@paxwallacejazz This was recorded a fair while ago. Things have come a fair way since the original Yamaha S90. Still a very decent sound for its time I think.

@mtfsant The internal EQ is probably your best bet. Also, make sure the filter cutoff is fully open. That said, this is just the stock piano preset.

Since i have a yamaha s90 like you have, and am looking to by a nord electro 2 i was wondering if it is possible to control the nord electro 2 on the yamaha s90. Is it possible to use the nord sounds on the s90 is what im asking.

You can run a MIDI cable from the S90 to the Nord which will allow you to play the Nord sounds from the S90 keyboard.

Yeah man, dig the Stella changes and solos. Cool acoustic piano sample. Do you run it through a stereo system or powered monitors? When I run my Casio Privia PX-200 mono, which has a nice piano sample it's sux, but through my pro headphones it sounds fine in stereo. I am still researching what kind of studio powered monitors I need to buy to get the best piano sound.

Hey Groovatious, mighty playing as always. After listening to your rendition of 'Stella' and reading through your list of 'Influences' it seems you've left one very important one out. What about Bill Evans?!? Your playing then, really reminded me of Bill which is an enormous compliment. Virtually all of the artists you've listed as influences sit in my CD collection but of all the pianists there, Bill just stands out for me. (To be continued..)

Thanks. There are a few piano presets in the S90. There's a softer sounding piano there but I like how this one 'cuts through' a bit better.

Really great playing it deserves another take at an acoustic. Electronics are great and I play one myself but something this good deserves the tone/overtones digitals can't quite yet reach.

Thanks mate. The Yamaha S90/S90ES both have great actions. They are obviously heavier than the Nord Electro but feel very nice and solid for piano/rhodes playing. The S90 does have some very good rhodes sounds on it. They're a completely different flavour to the Electro's however. The S90 Rhodes patches are more 'produced' and have more effects on them, whereas the Electro Rhodes' are more raw. They are both useful in different situations.

Thanks! That's just the stock S700 piano patch. I EQ'd it at the mixer - a little more treble and mid and a touch less bass.
