@codyjt5150 the 24 hours of lemans is split into 3 drivers to drive an estimated 8 hours each and usuall 1-2 hours a drive .. it seems impossible to sit in a car for one day
@codyjt5150 There's usually no need to go because the drivers sweat out all their liquids from the heat. Besides, if they can't keep their butt cheeks tight for two hours they probably shouldn't be racing in the first place.
Race cars take more wear and tear than street cars??
ONE pot hole on my street causes more "wear and tear" than what anything these cars go through in an entire race. Times that by the 50 billion pot holes in my neighborhood. i think your talking about drivetrain/tires only.
There's nothing like watching the final lap of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Some of these finishes are more like gentleman-like finishes. You may call it soft, but it's tradition. This is just beautiful to watch. But with all due respect, the 2005 Le Mans was even more beautiful as I almost wanted to cry over Tom Kristensen surpassing Jacky Ickx for most all-time outright wins at Le Mans. Again... beautiful to watch.
Yeah cause most of the time the win is already secured (2007 and 2008 was not so sure) and the last lap doesn't make a difference anymore. Something you can't see in shorter races.
@atallen223 A porsche engineer once said every miles of race condition is equivalent to the wear and tear of 1000 street miles.
These races are about 3200 miles for these cars. A street car with 3.2 million miles is definitely stretching the point, but the idea doesn't fail to impress. Remarkable engineering.
@atallen223 The don't, that's why they have the pit crew and mechanics to fix all the stuff that breaks during the race! LOL 8) But really, I know what you mean.
Are you kidding me?! They are just trying to set a record. have respect for the talent of theese drivers. OH and before I forget DO NOT judge all Americans by looking at only those who are arrogant.
they do give the drivers credit u idiot but 3 people race for 24 hours geez. once the fatigue sets in they're going to have to rely on the performance of the car, quit hiding behind the computer and actually do somthing if u really care about the drivers that much.

audi has been the leader in technology in racing for some time now. does anybody remember the 1989 trans-am championship 4-wheel drive, smoked them bad,and then they outlawed 4x4 cars..........Lola out.
Argh! That commentators Leigh Diffey! He used to commentate the V8 Supecars in Australia, but he left last year, I thought I'd never have to hear his annoying voice again!
For god sake, the entry is no reflecton on the road cars. GT1 cars have the chassis and engine block in common with the same makes road cars, and thats IT. Still, it's expected that Corvette would win the class. The development rates are huge, so for Aston to come straight out the box and be as quick is quite something.
A true petrolhead would just enjoy the amazing engineering of the cars regardless of who made them. american, english, german or damn marshan. put your handbags away little girls for fucks sake
Northax, the Aston Martins have been making the Corvette teams nervous, and the Aston Martins have defeated them in some races. In the 2006, they almost had the Corvettes, one hour left and then had a problem. For the most part, they were pretty reliable. I think it's only a matter of time before the Vettes get knocked off. It'll be nice when that happens, the Vettes are starting to get stale.
Doesn't matter. It's still an American car. Imagine American racers driving Porsche 911s, Ferrari F430s, etc. and winning; but at the end of the day, you Euros have the right to say your cars are good, because we use them!
Thus, the same is now said about our cars, like Panoz, since YOU use them! :)
you say america are getting better? ye with britain's help! who designed the original GT40? plus wen the Aston get reliable we will kick your arse man!
lol! Corvette, my friend, not GT40. Stop living in denial, my friend. :) And saying "When Aston gets reliable we will kick your arse man" is like me saying "When Corvette has the handling of a Formula 1 car, and top speed of a Veyron, it'll dominate every car on the track... man!" LOL! Please, live in reality, not fantasy. :)
I'm a American, but I have no pride in our cars. I admit, our cars are going down the drain lately. Also, I'm just amazed at Audi in how they won with their new TDI engines. I mean, if Audi beats the Corvette Team with diesel engines against gas combustion, Audi deserved another great victory.
Still, I would never buy a European car, I wouldn't buya American either. Had my share of problems with American Cars.
Well, we're making better cars: Look at the Cadillac CTS-V on Top Gear. It beat an Audi S4 around the track, easily. Looks at the $68,000 Corvette C6 Z06 beating multiple European cars that cost $130,000-$200,000, on the track. Look at the Ford GT, as well. We're getting better.
And the CTS-V weighs 430 lbs. more, and lacks the 4wd the S4 has. Therefore, it should've supposedly dominated around corners, which it seemed to've not done.
LOL! If American cars suck, that means ALL other cars in the world suck even more... because the Corvette team won 4 out of the last 5 Le Mans... you dimwitt! LMAO! Who feels stupid now, boy? LOL! GM won an international award: Best engine (which is in the Corvette C6-R) in the world... it was given in Germany. You just got owned, American style, buddy.
Excuse me, correction: FIVE out of the last 6 Le Mans were won by Corvette! I believe 4 out of those 5 were 1-2 finishes: both 'vettes making it in 1st and 2nd place. Also, American Dodge Viper won Le Mans 24 hour in 1998 and 1999 I believe, if memory serves me right.
I love the last lap of LeMans, with all the corner workers waving all of their flags. Its such a colorful lap. The corner workers are deffinitly what makes the race. With out them...who knows. I am a I volunteer my time as a corner worker at Watkins Glen, and it is a blast!!!
Stock? Yes. Race worthy, not the same as the original entry. The new Ford GT is an ode to the great GT, and a larger car. Still impressive, but the Vette dominates the GT1 class of race cars, for now.
