This guy was going to school to be a teacher. Incredibly decent guy and everybody in court saw this so the judge drastically lowered his charges and two strangers in the court that day payed his fine since he was using all of his money for his education.

Fire dept job isn't to patrol the streets at 3am waiting for fires. You have a police man doing a neighborhood patrol, sees a fire that no one else sees because people are sleeping. That's funny, my friend was there 2 years ago and I guess they had the same thing happen but people were provoking the officers and when asked to leave they became combative and started pushing. She had to get up and move her 2 kids to a safe area until the people were removed. Last year she elected not to attend because of the environment not being family oriented since the incident. Protesters cry about everything. Why should this be news? A bunch of kids without good parenting silently luring in the authority to the point where they have to take action so they can feel better about themselves. Well, rolling stops are against the law after all, even if it does seem so small. They're just doing their jobs as ENFORCERS. What if someone came to your office and shot you because of the work that you do? They don't make up the amount of the fines. If people were really sick of the tickets, they'd start obeying the laws. Whether it's coming to a complete stop or not blowing red lights. Everyone has to be weary of it, but you can't blame the officers.
If the laws weren't so ridiculous, it'd make sense to follow them all. The fact is, many of the traffic laws, among other laws, are there to make the state money. That said, many of the cops shot in routine traffic stops are shot because of drug smugglers. Should they be shot? No. Cops need to stop looking for trouble though. When you come RIGHT down to it, what is a cop there for? They're there to PROTECT AND SERVE. As long as everyone's SAFE, they're doing their jobs, regardless of the laws.

Rolling a stop sign is a lot different from treating it like a yield. As long as you slow down so you can reasonably see traffic, you should be fine. The arrests were completely justified. Like that one witness said, the only one who wasn't lying through his teeth, the people were there to listen to music and watch fireworks. I would like you to know that several weeks after the arrests were made, a video surfaces proving the protesters innocent of all accusations; the video was held in evidence while kids payed bail or spent the night in jail.

Fire dept job isn't to patrol the streets at 3am waiting for fires. You have a police man doing a neighborhood patrol, sees a fire that no one else sees because people are sleeping. And goes in the building to save lives. Or should the people die waiting for the fire dept which can take up to 5 min to get the call and arrive.

Well, that last comment was just me being cynical. I'm not saying we shouldn't have cops, but the way the state works makes having cops around more of a hassle than anything else. If you think about it, running into burning buildings is NOT in the job description the state gave to him. It's in the Oath he took, to protect and serve, but if he radio'd in to HQ, they'd have told him to stay in his fucking car. Being a cop doesn't make you a hero, and vice versa. Respect, though, HE IS a hero.

That's funny, my friend was there 2 years ago and I guess they had the same thing happen but people were provoking the officers and when asked to leave they became combative and started pushing. She had to get up and move her 2 kids to a safe area until the people were removed. Last year she elected not to attend because of the environment not being family oriented since the incident. I think alot of people fail to realize that when you're actions violate another's rights, you're just wrong.

But he struggled with them, so they made him stop by knocking him around a bit. Well, rolling stops are against the law after all, even if it does seem so small. They're just doing their jobs as ENFORCERS. What if someone came to your office and shot you because of the work that you do? They don't make up the amount of the fines. If people were really sick of the tickets, they'd start obeying the laws. Whether it's coming to a complete stop or not blowing red lights. Everyone has to be weary of it, but you can't blame the officers.

If the laws weren't so ridiculous, it'd make sense to follow them all. The fact is, many of the traffic laws, among other laws, are there to make the state money. That said, many of the cops shot in routine traffic stops are shot because of drug smugglers. Should they be shot? No. Cops need to stop looking for trouble though. When you come RIGHT down to it, what is a cop there for? They're there to PROTECT AND SERVE. As long as everyone's SAFE, they're doing their jobs, regardless of the laws.

Rolling a stop sign is a lot different from treating it like a yield. As long as you slow down so you can reasonably see traffic, you should be fine. You can't argue the point, when you make stupid people stop at a stop sign, that makes them more prone to sit there and wait until you get close to pull out. I ride bikes with my Uncle all the time, believe me we're safe drivers. I can understand the reason for rolling stops, but we're arguing a moot point. My point is, double the fine does nothing

The arrests were completely justified. Like that one witness said, the only one who wasn't lying through his teeth, the people were there to listen to music and watch fireworks. They weren't there to watch a bunch of whiny teenagers who wouldn't real fascism if it beat them over the head slander our excellent police officers. The police gave the protesters every chance to just walk away peacefully and they turned it down. So it's the protesters' own fault they got arrested.

I have a very difficult time believing any random protester would shoulder a cop, then grab him by the throat. considering the amount of cops they probably had there, the weapons he has on him, i don't know, it seems unlikely.

The Bush/Cheney administration has eliminated the parts of our Bill of Rights that used to protect everyone from illegal police. However, we are no longer a democracy. We are a military/industrial dictatorship run by the wealthy elite. This dictatorship now uses private security like Blackwater, the military, and the police to control citizens who speak out against them. We are no longer a democratic and free country, and conditions are surely going to get worse. Congress is helpless.

I would like you to know that several weeks after the arrests were made, a video surfaces proving the protesters innocent of all accusations; the video was held in evidence while kids payed bail or spent the night in jail.
I am grateful that not all Spokane police are corrupt and that at least one still stands up for what is right, but the police officer chose to serve and protect a citizen by tackling him, handcuffing him, and accusing him of assault on a police officer.

Hate would not accurately describe my feelings towards cops either, law enforcement is necessary; what is not necessary is abusing the power given to law enforcement personnel to bully those they have sworn to protect.
Spokane has a major meth problem; one of the worst in the country I believe. Perhaps some of this energy and at least half of these officers could have focused on busting a meth lab?

I have a friend who is a Harley mechanic and who pretends to like working on cops' Harleys, then he sets valves too tight, torques rod caps to wrong specs, drops rubbing compound in oil reservoirs, etc. He makes a lot of money off these assholes and fucks them over every chance he gets. It's hilarious to see them riding out of the shop with a big smile on their faces and waving like idiots! They think he's their buddy. LMAO!

Statistics don't lie. Police coneheads are 2 times more likely to commit crimes than normal citizens and their spousal abuse is 3 times the national average. Police who are sociopaths are not capable of serving and protecting the public who pays their inflated salaries. Sociopaths are only interested in serving and protecting themselves.
