are you totally idiot? the fleuret is on of the best swords in the western history og war. the "softness" would mean that if you hit someone in the chest, the sword would manouvre under the ribs and directly into the inner organs. The Fleuret (and rapier) has caused more death than any greatsword or whatever you are refering too....

And the weapon are not "made soft for safty reasons". the safty of the weapon is related to the way they get broken (without edge) and not to the "softness".
I agree with Krutoy, I prefer solid swords as well rather than these rubber sticks.

In reallity the weapons were solid and you needed strenght to strike and defend.

sure they were a little flexing but not like those sport fleurets whcih are made soft for safety reasons.
