  • I just heard a weird signal on 27.165 that somebody identified fro me as the Lincolshire Poacher. Do you have any knowledge of it operating there? I posted a video on my channel that is entitled "KB5WQW".

  • if i remember correctly, this numbers station has been traced to a British military base in Cypress and transmits towards the middle east. seems to be the only numbers station that i've heard about that's actually been traced.

  • Amateur listener: OMG, I've stumbled upon a government conspiracy!

Broadcaster: Small or medium coffee Jim?

  • WHAT DO THEY MEAN MASON????WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN!! THINK MASON!!! THINK!!!

  • I don't understand. I am trying to find the march for the The Lincoln and Welland Regiment, and I keep hearing all of this about some radio station. I don't understand what this video is about.

  • @Alex911TheCanadian Britain's secret intelligence service (MI6) used to broadcast a radio station from Cyprus transmitting coded number messages to operatives overseas, which used the tune of "The Lincolnshire Poacher" in-between messages.

  • vive la vive la vive la roi, vive la vive la vive la roi, vive la vive la vive la roi, vive la companie. WHY ARE THE FUCKING BRITS PLAYING A FRENCH SONG FROM THE 18th CENTURY???????????

  • It's probably something like: ''This message has no value whatsoever LOL''

  • i am peter reznov

  • @90005alexander viktor reznov

  • 0096 - 2251 - 2110 - 8105...

  • 395 395 704

  • WTF

  • Okay. I have no problem with spies going about their spyey stuff, BUT WHY DO THEY HAVE TO MAKE THEIR TRANSMISSIONS SO CREEPY?!

  • @roboticpigeon42 - Well a lot of the creepiness is from the static, I think.

  • @roboticpigeon42 So people don't listen to it hard enough to figure out the code.

  • @roboticpigeon42 Why do you think people stumble on them through sheer luck? They are put on for certain ranges for spies to tune in and get target info or trigger words for sleeper cells. But thats just my theory.

  • @roboticpigeon42 because its transmitting from another world

  • Combines...

  • lol is that tune there to cheer the military spies up after their work?

  • @RitzyRick it's actually there to help them tune in

  • @RitzyRick - It's an end-of-stream designator. Otherwise you might not be able to decode it right if you tune in during some random transmission.

  • The description makes me think of pokémon, like:

A wild lincolnshire poacher number station appeared!

  • Psycho Mantis is behind it all...

  • I've broken the code. It's a coded message to agent SDD and it states: "smoke weed every day"

  • The distortion of the song really adds to the creepy

  • this has to be a CONSPIRACY MADE BY CREEPY HEAVY.

  • o_O ...

  • Am I the only one that get the creepy feeling?

  • THE NUMBERS MASON, WHAT DO THEY MEAN!!!

  • @IamTheiPhone Would everyone STOP making Black Ops references?!? Number stations were real things that told spies basically when to destroy something! Now whenever someone even hears numbers they think of Black Ops! I'm surprised some kids don't yell that in kindergarten when learning how to count considering most Black Ops players are under 7 years old.

  • @Snake1045 Wow, I can't believe I just read that. All that for making a reference? I know what a number station is and I did before Black Ops. I know perfectly well of the UVB-76. And anyway, do you somehow think you are superior knowing it from a different source? Because you aren't. Surely if you think that knowledge of these stations is good, you wouldn't mind where people experience them from.

Also, I'm not a kid, stop trolling and stop being prejudice. Kids cant even get Black Ops.

  • @IamTheiPhone I am just tired of seeing the same comments over and over again. Also trust me, I play Black Ops and most of the people playing with a mic sound like they're still in elemrntary school. Either that or it's so sensitive that we can hear their families in another room.

  • @Snake1045 Well, fair enough, I agree its repetitive, but there's way more Team Fortress references on here! I agree with the mic thing too. :(

  • @IamTheiPhone Dragovich.. Steiner.. Kravchenko. All these men must die.

  • Imagine walking down a dark corridor with flickering lights and blood-stained walls and then you hear this!

See even I can make a generic horror scene and I wasn't even trying...

  • @Tarik360 PROCEED TO TARGET. OSWALD.. COMPROMISED!

  • @mew6112 and then the scary clown monster from hell is in the far end of the corridor staring at you as the Merry-Go-Round musics plays (in a slow pace) and then the lights go dark and the main character gets killed in the most horrific ways possible.

(Fun fact, I have never understood the fear of clowns)

  • @mew6112 REZNOV WHERE ARE YOU?!?! REZZZZNOVVVV~!!!

  • @JHAAMYEESS Ich Hast Du.

  • AGGH- Oh. Shut ze fuck up you CoD schweinhunds...

  • @TheRealRealFlippy Nein du

  • @PopcornFever Nein! TELEFONMAST!

  • OH MY GOD, THE NUMBERS ARE REAL

  • WHAT ARE THE NUMBERS MASON?!

  • @Snailman4 well it was 7 months ago. just thumbs it down and you will be fine!

  • @Snailman4

    snailman4 thumbs up = 0

    juanpablotito thumbs up = 252

    who's to talk?

  • BABY STATION!!!

  • That is creepy shit...

  • I would love to hear this station. Kinda sucks that Lincolnshire poacher is not online anymore.

  • Please, somone tell me what these are ussaly for, they say there for the Goverment, spies, drug deallers, but what is the main reasson we know?

  • @tangofizz77 The letters only make sense if you have a sheet of paper (a "one-time cipher") to decipher them.

So for the first letter, "A" might correspond to "R", "B" might equal "H" etc etc.

For the second letter you would have a different set of letters to use. Once you've used the whole sheet you can never use it again. That's why it's called a one-time cipher.

Guys with suitcases handcuffed to their wrists on passenger planes are often carrying one-time ciphers.

  • @tangofizz77 ....their main use is for government agencies abroad etc. Especially military and spying.

  • YAESU FAG-7700

  • @Snoofalah It looks like fag, but up close its "FRG"

  • THE NUMBERS MASON WHAT DO THEY MEAN!?!?!?!?!?

  • The song is at a lower tone in this video. That must be part of the code as well as the numbers.

The number stations are obviously still in use.

  • @AmunRa1 I've read that the tunes played may contribute to how urgent the message is.

  • @AmunRa1 The Lincolnshire Poacher station is no longer in use though. There are still Numbers stations on the air to this day.

  • @danschaoticmind

Is there only one station that uses that song? Huh.

  • @AmunRa1 Yes, the Lincolnshire poacher was only used by that specific numbers station. Each numbers station has its' own identifying characteristic. Such as "Attencion" and "Yosemite Sam" which for example, was a 600ms data burst (Spectrogram UID) and then a line from a 1949 Bugs bunny cartoon.

  • MASON ONLY YOU KNOW WHAT THE NUMBER MEAN!

  • What you are hearing is lottery numbers from the future... now go and bet all your money

  • Comment removed

  • The station went off the air in June2008. It hasn't returned that I know of.

Punch in the frequency on the display of the larger radio, without the period, into the AM band, and you would have had it...

  • how do you find it...?

  • WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN, MASON???!!!

  • @MegaMan6947 HAHAHAHA exactly the thing i was thinking when i saw these videos

  • @MegaMan6947 I think the station is saying "FCK F Y CLL F DTY FNBY CNTS!"

  • @cattacer Yea that's probably it.

  • ...uh...where am I?...who am I?

  • @madsorama u have seen too much fringe ;D

  • @madsorama Fringe reference win!

  • acharam o sinal da Cultura na hora do documentário sobre indios?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • thank you for the lotto numbers!

  • Would it be possible to infiltrate one of these stations and play michael jackson on it instead?

  • is it still running?

  • @20122017 It's not...

  • spy sappin mah radio

  • @DoitForTheLolz1 That spy is communicating with other Spies to grab the intel.

  • @mikesvampire Long and short yes that is correct. It is , of course, a bit more complicated but the gist of it is actual spy radio.

  • @danschaoticmind But you get the joke, right?

  • @mikesvampire Yeah i got the joke.

It just wasn't too funny man sorry.

  • @danschaoticmind SHIT.

  • @mikesvampire Sorry. If it's funny for you though, then right on man.

  • :< i want your yaesu

  • it's heavy!!!

  • am or fm(i really wanna check this out)

  • WHOLE STATION IS BABY

  • @valzilla2000 3 9 5 3 9 5 7 0 4 :D

  • One day when the world ends, either by nuclear war, or another unforeseen event, all that will be left on our planet will be these number stations, still broadcasting, for no one to ever know their meaning or true purpose.

Really fucking creepy to think about.

  • Im 14 wtf is this?

  • @pmckeown40 Saying your fourteen obviously means your ten. *Points to door*

  • @TeamMemberStudios Well how do i know your not like 13? Ive been through "it" chose my options etc, what does it matter? If you know just tell me.

  • @pmckeown40 Well, considering 13 is often the legal age for most sites...

  • @TeamMemberStudios Legal age? The law doesnt matter on the internet, i have truthfully stumbled onto a porn site for typing in the word "latin" on google images with moderate safesearch there IS NO law on the internet.

  • @pmckeown40 There is law on the Interent. It's just not easy to uphold.

They have a report button on safesearch, too, stupid.

That had to have been the stupidest thing I have ever heard, ever.

  • @TeamMemberStudios Whatever that doesn't matter if you know what this is about then spill it if not then just go find someone else to talk to.

  • @pmckeown40 It looks more like you don't know.

Besides, I'm not looking to talk. it's Youtube comments, not a forum.

  • @TeamMemberStudios And? Doesn't mean your not allowed to explain something probably pretty simple to someone who wants to know.

  • @pmckeown40

Good god just shut up already.

  • @LOLBROTIMETOLUL Alright sorry just curious.

  • Glad to see they made it with the top notch "FAG 7700" Communications Receiver!

  • @CrispyBunions FRG-7700, smartass

  • @prophetoftru7h YOOP

  • Aaaaahh fuck off, it's 1 in the morning. Creeped me out.

  • I want one

  • Has this thing been repeating the same numbers since it has started? or does it do different sequence of numbers each time ?

  • 3. 9. 5.

    3. 9. 5.

    7. 0. 4.

  • @juanpablotito HEAVY IS NULL

  • @juanpablotito Yeah...it was scary.

  • its part of the intelligence networks way of transmitting to agents and field operatives without the barriers that other methods have. they travel like no other with little cost to effect. the codes are for secret purposes obviously and can only be decoded by the the person who recives the right numbers to open or make sence of what they need to know.

  • What is this?

  • food for thought. these nations could be sending out these transmissions as a way to tie up the other nations... like they could be sending out these nonsense transmissions and other nations are wasting their time trying to decode it while they are sending the true message some other media outlet.

  • @dacribgansta Like in commercials!?

  • Why does it play that song at the end? Was it mention to cheer the spies up after a long day or somthing?

  • @TrustHax To identify that they are on the correct station. There are many numbers stations and this one moved around in frequency so you couldn't just tune in to a set value and be sure you got it.

  • @TrustHax It marks the end of the message.

Could also mark the beginning of a message as well.

  • why cant mi6 just send spies a text message? "go kil target, cu when u get back"

  • @gringolazlo that is a really good idea! "plz kill saddam. kthanxbye"

  • @gringolazlo Because any idiot can intercept a public cell phone message with the right equipment. :D

By using one time pads and this sort of system, it's virtually impossible to figure out what's being communicated.

  • @gringolazlo

    CDMA, TDMA, GSM, D-AMPS

With proper tools (which I'm sure most spy agencies have at their disposal) you can find out what a text message contains, what network it was on, what satellite or cell tower it when to and triangulate a persons position.

  • @gringolazlo Other countries could be listening, and I don't think they had Mobile Phones during the WW2 where this seems to be originating from. I think this is just some old recording on a loop.

  • @gringolazlo The Government probably just keeps it running for fun, like a Easter Egg :P

  • @gringolazlo Because messages are traceable and intercept-able. Perhaps encrypt a text, maybe

  • @gringolazlo because radio which is encoded is the safest way to get your messages to the spy .. if you would do it in another way .. everyone could hear the transmission and your mission will be compromised

  • I think you'll find they stopped broadcasting it because every civilian Tom, Dick and Harry knows about it and listened in.

It's a security breach, not to mention illegal under UK law.

  • For some reason, the repeating tune of it makes it creepy for me.

  • this is part of england's history. BRING IT BACK

  • @rebelosty

    Did it ever go away?

  • yeah, they haven't used it in almost 2 years

  • It may yet be back, when it's needed again.

  • It's be kinda funny if we petitioned Downing street demanding they bring back the Lincolnshire poacher! Cherry Ripe's just not the same....

  • the poacher is not so well tuned, maybe 0.1 or 0.2 khz off tuned.

  • idiot!

  • whats it all about i dont get it.

  • Its a number station - shortwave radio broadcasts which lurk on the edges of the shortwave world, broadcasting seemingly random patterns of numbers, which only one person with a one time pad can decode. They are intended for spies, and started during the cold war (or even ww1). Governments claim they don't exist, but that we shouldn't listen to them because it is illegal. Confusing eh?

  • this one is broadcast from cyprus

  • Apparently it was traced back to RAF Akrotiri (South Cyprus), although the station itself was supposedly operated by SIS/MI6.

  • The radio station was believed to be operated by the British Secret Intelligence Service and emanated from the island of Cyprus. Amateur direction finding had linked it with the Royal Air Force base at Akrotiri, Cyprus, where several curtain antennas had been identified as being its transmitter

  • No-one knows what they are for, the most credible theory seems to be espionage. Its the buzzer that rattles my head the most. Buzz, Buzz, Buzzzzzz.

  • @cutterschoicenotmine Agreed. I saw that on Cracked the other day and it really gave me the creeps.

  • Are you talking about UVB-76?

  • @dominicrusho I you got caught listening to it, and you'd brought to justice, maybe something interesting info would come in the trial.

  • @jabajabamaster Likely just a way for agents to better identify the frequency if it was coming in weak. You have to admit, it's hard to mistake this for something else.

  • @dominicrusho , well, according to several laws, it is illegal to listen to transmissions reserved to governative purposes, like Police or Army. But I don't believe that a trial would be performed, in UK, if someone is seen to sintonize on these frequencies. Probably there will happen the confiscation of radio-broadcasting, and a strong money-charge

  • Did you do a mod on your 7700 dial light? mine wasn't working so replaced the bulb but its not half as bright as that??....

Love finding these number stations even if we'll never understand what there for.......

  • How much does a basic system like this cost???

  • about 900 bucks not bad but u can get them on ebay for like 120-700$

  • I need to get one of these radios... could maybe pick up some Nellis or Area 51 broadcasts here in Vegas, haha.

  • I don't think you understand how shortwave works...

It doesn't matter as much where you are in the world, you can usually pick up the signals.

  • I know that.

  • So why did you think your location would have any significant impact? With any half decent setup the difference in quality is very small.

  • Oh, I don't know. What goes on over there just interests me is all.

  • Not a whole lot really. There'd be military prototypes being tested, but nothing ridiculous. It's basically the stuff that you see in 10-15 years if it's successful.

  • eerie stuff. I'm surprised that the people who send out this signal haven't even been found.

  • All they did was record the digits 0 thru 9 on tapes and a machine played the tapes depending on what number to send out. The military used it to encrypt orders to their spies in foreign countries.

  • Well, that's just a theory. I, personally, believe these are either for spies or drug smuggling. Spies is probably the best bet.

I also heard they use burst transmissioning, but that's a whole 'nother story.

  • The Lincolnshire Poacher transmitter has been traced back to the RAF Airbase at Akrotiri. Cherry Red used to do the same thing in the Pacific.

  • I didnt know that, I always thought they were never tracked.

I also read just now that both the LP and Cherry Ripe arent being aired anymore. I found it on Wikipedia and found a source page.

I wonder how long that will last...

  • this sounds like somethign from the conet project..

  • There are some tracks from the poacher on the conet project

  • The Conet Project is a cd containing recordings from number stations. For the LP to be on there is no surprise, considering how popular this particular station is.

  • Nope.. it's still here

  • I thought, wrongly I guess, the LP was long gone and out of use????
