Hello, I am seriously considering grabbing some somniferums to grow in my backyard. Can you please tell me what a legitimate place to buy seeds is? I found the one stop poppy shoppe but I dont know if they have the real thing =/ Also, what do you do with the mild you retrieve from the pods to process? Is it useable as is or is there more to making it smokeable/ consumable? Any information is greatly appreciated thank you.
they are worth growing for the beauty.. very gorgeous, and that silver green.. wow. I see wild ones here and there. and knew an older couple who grew, they had pods in their porch ? :) maybe for aches and sleep aide.

@assinomen I have tried from Tazzy over the net but still no go, even tho it's part of Auzzy, it has 2 come over seas, so i'd say regulations r different than from state to state. I'll keep lookin, it's not a big thing, but whenever i see sum1 growing i just ask is all.
There r sum on teh netz that claim to be able to 'bypass' the border or whatever with packaging, but i'm not taking that risk. Also if they say that, Authorities can read it too derrr LOL

But i did find sum wild 1's years ago & grew them myself for about 3 yrs & ended up moving & forgeting about em, Spewin now lol. & Trust me, i do always check the wild 1's lol. Also, u used 2 b able 2 buy them in health food shops for baking & food stuff, but now the cook or cure them somehow so they r useless to grow grrr.

Of course .opium is the substance that morphine is extracted from which in turn is synthesised into heroin. If you use it only when you need it and for not more than 2 weeks at a time you should have no problems. Unless of course you have an addictive personality and then once will do it.
@Mattiafederer opium is probaly more benign there is something in the interaction of all the other alkaloids..modern pharmacist,s say all the other alkaloids bar a few are useless but if so why are they there?modern ideas of refining the:active ingredient:is responsable for a lot of trouble take coca for example people in s.america chew the leaves and rest and seem to suffer minimal side effects wheras cocaine can be devastating.opium is addictive so needs max respect!!

In 1996 Opium was totally eradicated by Taliban and no one was allowed to grow opium in Afghanistan as Sharia law forbidden that. In 2001 when Americans invaded Afghanistan, the Opium growth went up by 90 percent, security in Afghanistan was 100 percent when Taliban were rulling the Country but look at American backed Government in Kabul that they can not even control 10 percent of Afghanistan! @Ramenascus yes it will ,some varieties will let themselves be "milked "numerous occasions ..the secret is to lance the outer skin of the Pod leaving the inner skin intact ..the plant attempts to heal ,clot the wound ...giving us the latex otherwise known as raw opium .
I hear it's far more frugal to eat the pods unless you are dealing with very many, in which case milking is more worthwhile. 7 pods worth of milk will only give a couple hours of pleasure where as eating the same amount could last you well into the next day. pop a couple in your mouth with a swig of water, chew em up and swallow really fast. By far the least wasteful method from what i heard :)

@assinomen i,ve milked these inside to ensure i,m not showing people something that may be illegal in their state country ...it is of course much more productive to milk the pods whilst the plants are still firmly in the ground/pots ...this was my very last harvest of the year ergo ...lancing inside as these Pods were later hung to dry ...and harvest the seeds ..and enjoy tea from the dried Pods .

I think they generally cut in the morning and harvest late afternoon after the sun has dried the stuff, but they dont do it with soil wet, not that it really matters.
Also u can lance them several times if they are still in the soil, ie cut and collect on several different days, I think about 6 or 7 times.
@tpvalley the chinese score across instead of down,in little dashes-----to begin,then full lines around the pod.although the cuts dont join as this can kill the pod.they start at the top of pod and work down..first bleed is set aside from subsequent bleeds as the first bleed contains more morphine .it does work.better i think than afghan technique

Reageren op deze video... as i,d hate to get anyone in trouble ,i send many seeds to those whom ask ,for gratis ,as they cost me nothing ,but i always do note these plants are very powerful and not to be underestimated ,nonetheless their gift is of so much value to man it is a shame it cannot be utillised

@NaySayerGeneral very true indeed NSG ,i,ve grown these and other "interesting "plants for years ,enjoying their gift with no ill side effects or pain killer taken in years ...but the gift they share with us is a powerful thing that shouldnt be underestimated ,however as i say i prefer this alternative than any BIG Pharma option .

@NaySayerGeneral No, this plant will do all the punishing for you.Its my duty to warn people here, unless you have cancer stay right away from opium, its harder to quit than Dia morphine and only 2% (and they are probably lying) get off it.but hey if you really want to be a tar junky.....the end will be methdone for the rest of your life.Right Ive done my civic duty, now i'll shut up.
