  • Nice tracking technology, Google.

  • Is it possible to ADD a picture of me to a location? I don't know. Maybe the Playboy Mansion.

  • please view my video response

    watch, rate have fun guys.

if there is a solution to this problem (the grayed out "report a problem") let me know haha, ut so far it IS a problem...

    --DPB

  • Google lies. The report a problem link is not a usuable option. I want my house removed.

  • @websuspect why?

  • @websuspect WTF? it's grayed out. they straight up lie! why can't I use "REPORT A PROBLEM"??? have you figured it out yet?

  • "Privacy is PRIME" today! With medical records forced to become computerized by 2012, & everyone (in the US, anyway -- land of the free?) being forced to carry an identity card, when babies are given Social Security (SS!) numbers at birth, & other invaions of privacy, (the new "invasion of the body-- & mind? --Snatchers"?), we need all the privacy we can get! (Vote Liberarian!)

  • This is good to know. My ex-fiance's car is pictured in my driveway on street-view. This is something my new girl wouldn't appreciate.

  • Sorry to break it to some of you, but there are tons of people using commercial satellite imagery programs that are often far more complex and detailed than Google Maps, and you'll never get the chance to opt out of them. It's not like Google is the only one with access to this imagery and you're safe and sound once they stop displaying it. Of all those with access to this data, Google is probably the last one I would be concerned about.

  • Unfortunately, things like this really should be opt in and not opt out. Who has the time to search through a neighborhood to remove things that may be privacy violations?

  • Google makes no logical sense.

People don't just stay put in houses, they ultimately move. Unless its a famous person that owns a house.

Deleting people owned pets, people and perhaps Vehicles is one thing.

Unless the Google Car plans on coming back in a few years to update their StreetView Project.

  • It doesn't really make sense to have your house or car deleted from Google maps when anyone can just drive by in person and see it...

  • if google street view vans can pass thru NO TRESPASSING signs and private roads, anyone can take a sunday afternoon ride around area 51 and take a zillion pictures!! ? No? Lol

  • Google is already under fire for privacy concerns.

Because they are a company and have a business license, they must be careful where they take pictures.

NO TRESPASSING means NO TRESPASSING. Some private roads may not be marked or wear and tear on the signs.

So, to make sure they don't break any laws by mistake, they have a report form, if the owners don't like it.

  • lol the way he trows the request paper away

  • imagine if everyone in the US wanted there property removed what will we look at?

  • Google respect privacy? lololololololololololololololol! I'm sorry, but I don't believe you... don't trust you either!!! I was shocked to see my place photographed, right up to my front door!

  • True, I am so afraid of the technologies these days, Big Brother is definitely possible right now!

  • @justplainerica LOL isnt it terrible that now anyone in the world can see a picture of your house?

  • I like how the Google tech just throws away the removal request. XD

  • Yeah sure, so what do u do with the actual image. With "user Info" sell it to the Govt? Realtime image is more secure, if dealt with so called " objectionable imagery", images have to be taken with out any people or automobiles. Use DSP to remove info at point in time. That way, we can be sure its safe. Already I donno How many Thousands of TB of data is in Googles Storage. This is Precious Info.

  • What if I don't want my picture to be removed but somebody else report it?

  • it gets taken down

  • haha... the person at the end is deleting the removal-request, not the picture ;)

  • LOL yes i thought the same so much privacy haha

  • If you can take out houses, can you add them? I would like you to please add a big fucking mansion where my shitty apartment is, so yeah.

  • lol, that would be awesome.

  • Hey Google, i'm expecting to see a tool that allows me to move inside the streets just like the game Counter Strike or similar. The freedom to run around, maybe using the same commands from the game. Thanks!!!

  • A ak would be nice too so we can kill anyone that we don't like. lol

But that feature would be nice.

  • There is a flight simulator in Google Earth, so I think there is not much left to adapt it to a FPS engine as you say =) maybe online connection with Google Talk could be nice

  • Wait till the Web OS is out, there definitely will be something for u.

  • yea..take down..to the garbage xD..Google doesnt respect your privacy ;)

  • Comment removed

  • Notice, after the staff reads the message does nothing and then throw away and just smiles?? ^_^

    lol

  • :D

Well i guess google meant that they throw away the image, but that really is a little bit ambiguously.

  • I was kidding :D

  • I was hoping they would catch me having a wank at my bedroom window, one for the album

  • lol this video makes me laugh

  • i don't think anybody will report anything

  • That implies that it is not THAT important to remove the content. Tada~

  • That is really fair!!!

    Do no evil, google

  • Great.

  • Feh, I would LOVE to be on street view. Im still hoping they'll come by my house soon.

  • i was walking to work the other day and a street view car passed me. i was star struck. is that weird? anyway, i'm hoping that i'm actually gonna be IN the shot. i don't even mind being discernible (well, now i know how to report a problem: "my face is blurred" )

  • what makes you think everyone would be so free to search the whole of google maps to check that they're not there?

  • I like how that guy at 1:05 opened a take down request and then, with a smile on his face, acted quickly by put it in a recycle bin ;). On the side note I am really amazed by the technology that recognizes faces and license plates for blurring.

  • Its simple, the same thing used in ur cameras, called face detection, its a simple program actually.

  • I'm not worried.

  • neither am i:D i think street view, as well as maps and earth are all great products and i had a long conversation with a few people who said things like: "i don't want anybody to know i'm in my garden" which is...strange, i mean, WHY? have a garden? and who on earth (or maps, or street vies) would seriously care?

anyway, rant over, i'm not worried either, especially since google give you the choice of objection

  • Haha, saw you at your garden the other time.

  • Lol so this is why they took out a bunch of pics of the kid falling off his bike. But the guy flipping the camera off is still there

  • One time I was trying to find KFC on street view.

I looked at the KFC and right on the sign there was Colonel Sanders; and his face was blurred out.

  • Wish I would of seen them taking a picture of my house. I would of beat them down.....

  • if you life in the usa they would probably shot you in self defence.

  • All license plates are blanked.

    Nice.

    =)

  • Great product, and good that you can request removals.

But the complaints-link is badly designed.

    Its almost invisible.

I couldn't find it even when i knew it was there somewhere, i had to go back here and watch the video again.

If i didn't know it existed, and where it was, there would be no chance i would discover it.

It looks like the copyright text that use to be down there, not like a link.

  • Its so annoying when people complain about images and get them removed. For some streets, half the pictures have been removed, so what the bloody point?!

None of the pictures are ruining anyone's privacy. How is it different to going out? People can still see you, just as they can in street view.

  • If you wanted to report a piece of imagery to be blurred out that is not of you or your property, will Google still blur it out?

  • Will Google redo the places it has captured already in the future?

  • I did use many times because Boston is very confusing and Navigation is sometimes not enough

I hope they make Street View Night time too :)

  • I wonder how many people would be viewing the celebrities pool sides when the celebrities are sitting at the pool side with just their bikini?

  • I don't see how it's any different then a live person seeing you on a street.

  • Apart from a live person cant stand there for hours, take photos and study your way of life for days on end?

if google didnt blur stuff and get rid of things etc you could just stalk someone and probably even plan a robbery easily.

  • Did you even think before you comment? Since when does Google's car stand there for hours and take photos or study your way of life for days on end?

Also, how would seeing someone's face in streetview be considered stalking? And, really, what idiot would plan a robbery from an image on Streetview. The images are low quality, and nothing stops the person from driving to the same place.

  • Never mind the fact that Google images arent updated frequently, meaning that if a person were to change something (say, add a garage or take one away) between the time the pictures were taken and the current time, the thief would be fucked.

    boringcomedy is a fucking idiot.

Have the people that say these things ever used the software they're bitching about?

  • Yea I heard it takes about 6 months by the time cars collect data until that data is put into GPS nav systems that you buy in the store. For example. Also when street view showed up first in our area that pictures I saw were like a year old or something.

  • First, sorry for not getting my information correct.

Second, I never said anything about someones face, and just looking at a PICTURE is an easy way to plan a robbery.

If you see the house next door has a camera on the side, you'll be able to see where its pointing etc.

  • Yeah because the pictures are THAT good.

Check out this house: 2507 W 45th Pl, Chicago, Cook, Illinois 60632

It's not my house but I live in that same street and I KNOW where the cameras are. Can you tell me where they are and where they're pointing?

Alternatively, you can just walk by and easily spot them.

  • @lcfr2004:

They actually take cars/vans with cameras on them that take panoramic pictures. They've came through my town before.

  • I was unable to see any camera's, The picture was REALLY bad, Unlike if you type in "sm44jn" (post code) you will see a house a few doors down from mine, has Cameras that you are Easily able to see.

I dont know if its because i live in England but it seems that this view is much clearer

  • Even if the pictures were exceptionally great you're still missing most of the property.

For example, in the house I showed you, most of the cameras can't be seen at all because of the terrible angles.

Like I said, a simple drive past the house will reveal more than anything you could ever find on google maps.

Sadly, in the zip code you referenced, a lot of the pictures were removed.

  • boringcomedy, yes those pictures do seem to be more clear. I can see the contents of that black Jetta.

  • Icfr2004, what do you mean "where the cameras are"?

They drive down the road in cars with panoramic cameras. There are no cameras in the neighborhood.

  • We're talking about personal home security cameras.

boringcamera is saying that you could see them on google maps and plan a robbery using that information.

  • Icfr2004, sry I didn't see the beginning of the conversation. I never thought about that.

Seems like a moot point though. If someone wanted to break into a house, they would drive by and see the camers.

I doubt a criminal would plan their break-in using Google Maps only.

just my non-criminal opinion though :)

  • they should change the computer voice , to the one of stephen hawking

  • Damn Europeans don't want to become digital.

  • hey i love having streetview in london :) very handy tool.. shame its being censored abit, hopefully it wont spoil the rest of the experience.

  • thanks google. It's great that you're so customer friendly :)

  • so they take our letters then throw them out? 1:04

  • Metaphores. :P

  • accually they recycle them

  • Thanks my house for sale looks like shyt on google street view

  • Your comment *almost* leaves me speechless. Are you seriously complaining about that? What kind of entitled a-hole complains about something like that? You do realize that just the IDEA of this service 20 years ago would be mind-blowing. And that it's free. And that you don't have to do anything but go and use it. And that even though your house looks like "shyt" it is THERE.

You don't deserve to use their services.

  • Fck you faggot I spent over $100,000 remodeling my house that still hasnt sold yet it was garbage when google took satellite pics of my house so FUCK OFF

  • Owned. DUMBASS.

  • LOL Sucks to be you!

  • Yeah, I'll say the same thing again, you entitled douche-bag. You're complaining about a FREE service. It's FREE. You didn't even ask for it. And satellite/street view pictures are not put there to sell your house.

And if you haven't been following the news, NOBODY'S house is selling well. We've had ours on the market for 2 months with zero showings. But I'm not delusional enough to blame Google. That's ridiculous, like you.

  • 1:05 shows what happens with your letters.

    Obviously.

  • Ha Ha LOL

  • lmao.

  • it is nice that google take good care of its customers!

  • Coooooooooool.

  • Image take-down request goes in the recycling bin?

    Good idea!

  • yeap cool

  • yeap... no use for me though.... but not for a long tyme

    i hope....

  • cool
