Catchers don't "have" to be right-handed, there's just never any left-handed catchers or infielders. On the other hand if 1.5 steps is the difference between safe & out, then left-handed batters get a slight advantage

@BigRedMachine006 Catchers are better suited right handed for put outs considering most batters will be on their left side. Same thing with shortstops, a righty would be easier to make assists and turn plays over second, turning two over the horn is inherently trickier for a lefties.

Likewise, lefties have a distinct advantage at first where they can you their glove hand to pick up over throws outside the bag.

Either way, it's stuff like this that makes baseball great :)

For Example the 1991 world series champion Twins had all but only a handful of players who grew with the organization though the minors. Boston though (just like New York) bought thier talent.....
