what???? stupid comments ppl just dumb. seriously???? bjj overrated? changing rules this is pride the gracies had nothing to do with pride. and the gracies didnt change the rules in the ufc. the faretti brothers and dana white did all the changes. judo also derives from jjj and gjj was modified form of jjj so what the hell are yall talking bout really do ur research be4 making dumb comments ppl.

On the street a judoka only needs seconds to finish a fight with ONE throw. Ippon in judo reflects reality on the streets. BJJ is useful only in sport games where people can afford rolling on the ground without getting stabbed or kicked from third persons. Judo athletes know that the ground should be left quite soon, so judo tournaments are still reality based. Even under BJJ rules and without a gi the Gracies couldn´t defeat a world class judo fighter. BJJ is one of the most overrated styles.
Royce Gracie is the legend, but he's also supposed to be a hero, he failed in that part. The legend of him fighting much bigger opponents became less epic, after he got busted for using steroids. The legend of BJJ is also darkened after his loss to Sakuraba the wrestler, and it is even worsened when he used steroid. MMA's business is frickin dark since the beginning to today. For christ sake! Rampage just said in the interview that Pride doesn't care about Steroids. Damn...the yakuza.
The guy loses so he changes the rules. He loses to sakuraba, he takes steroids and beats him in the rematch. He was ballsy as hell and you gotta respect his wins in the early ufc's, but he is still a scumbag. Yoshida is clearly the better fighter.
Of course its mma there should be striking.its not a judo match but an mma match. royce didnt do anything to change the rule. study first before you make bullshit comment.
Yoshida got crushed in this match, totally dominated. Just to tell people, that a gi and punches shouldnt decide the match. So truth told Yoshida lost fair and square. He's just a man like everyone else. There's no BJJ vs Judo, there's only man vs man. And Royce was the better this day
Credit to Gracie, They did this sport BIG all over the world, hope you all understand this. I have read all comments, and you all have right .....little less...little more, but momentum is , this sport is acceptable thx to Gracie.s.
¡Imaginen estas peleas entre maestros de todos los tiempos!: Royce vs. Wally Jay; Rickson Gracie vs. Mashaiko Kimura; Bruce Lee vs. Huo Yuan Jia; Apidej Sit Hrun vs. Gerard Gordeau; Joe Lewis vs. Frank Dux; Masutatsu Oyama vs. Choi Hong Hi; Ku Yu Cheung vs. Ed Parker; Yip Man vs. Gichin Funakoshi; Helio Gracie vs. Gene Lebell.
If we sum up the two fights, there are clear conclusions from all of it: First, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is no match for traditional Jiu-Jitsu and that's why Gracie had to change the rules from the first combat, because he wouldn't have won otherwise. Without the Gi and punching, can we really call that a BJJ vs Judo? Sorry Royce, but I lost a lot of respect for you in this couple of fights...
Royce Gracie and the rest of his family are bunch of bitches. Why the fuck they would let them dictate the rules in the first place and why make exceptions. I totally lost respect to them and their sports when he fought in the UFC and actually pulled the hair of his opponent, you can't get any more of a bitch than that.
When the Gracies were in charge of UFC rules, there were no rules! So saying they made rules to benefit themselves is just stupid. No rounds meant that they could use superior conditioning to wear out their opponents and eventually get the sub. Watch the first few UFC's when Royce was owning everyone and tell me how the rules benefited just him.
And Royce didn't tap on that first fight, so the end was bullshit. Look at the video above and watch Royce beat Yoshida.
@14thSgtStedanko I agree! Actually most of the new rules introductions in UFC were mostly anti-groundfighting and anti-grappling (introduction of rounds, stand-ups, clinch-breaks, wearing gloves, etc).
gracies play only by the rules because they cant otherwise!emin boztep had chalenged roy gracie on a street fight with no rules and gracie declined!he cant use his technicks in a no rule match or with different rules by his own!
It is really funny how Royce's coaches curses a lot the japanese, while the japanese just comment on their side without cursing.
The Gracies are with no doubt great fighters, but they do not have any honor, they misunderstand win with honor.
I don't understand why Yoshida didn't fight like he did before. But seriously, why give a 100% in a fight where my opponent dictates all the rules to his benefits? There is no honor in this and is not worth it. That is the japanese thinking.
while the gracies are amazing at their art, theyre infamous for working rules to benefit themselves to make their art look better than it actually is. one of the gracies made the ufc rules, this gracie dictated this fights rules, and this one also basically cheated. "well i lost against yoshida last time with a gi and no striking, so now ill just change the rules so i dont have to wear a gi and i can strike". sneaky fucker, they'll do anything to get the upper hand in a cheap way
@chunkysoup42. I'm not any of the gracies, I'm not even a BJJ practicioner. But I can see all of ur arguments are nonsense and based on hatred only. Which UFC rules are favouring them? And how can u call this rules cheated when they both clear and agree on it? If any side having more influence on Pride, its'Yoshida not the Gracies.
@Ardian1899 i never said the gracies cheated. but just because the rules were agreed upon doesnt mean that yoshida was at an equal handicap. if youre one of the best in the world, of course youll still fight a challenger even if he says there has to be conditions. and which rules are favoring the gracies? seriously? you show your clear ignorance and inexperience in all forms of mma just by asking that question.
@chunkysoup42, then let me ask the same question but from another point of view, which common rules are infavouring other fighter? Gracies are sissy in punch yet the allow it, Gracies are sissy in kick, elbow, etc, and yet they allow it. These rules in the early UFC is fair, but you tell me otherwise. Talk about this match, I've never heard Yoshida complaining or hesitate with the rule, then why would you?
@Ardian1899 Oooooohhhh... So that's why Pride stripped Yoshida of his win, gave Royce all of his demands including no drug test and yet another rules dictation. Because Yoshida has more pull in Pride. That makes perfect sense.
@Super8astard, are you trying to tell me that Gracie has more pull in Pride despite the event is held by Japanese? When you held an international event, the last thing you want to do is infavouring your own. Either you favouring your own or trying to make the event as fair as possible. Or perhaps you want to tell me more about your sense?
@Ardian1899 You need to get over nationalities. Pride was a promotion out to make money, those who generate it have more pull reguardless of where they sleep. If Royce says, "do what I say or I will leave Pride", Pride does what he says. This happened. Who else in Pride was allowed to stipulate their own rules? Who else was allowed to stipulate what their opponent could or couldn't do? You think Yosh could've done the same? Who's rules did have he no choice in using, twice? Economics son.
@Super8astard, you can't just get over nationalities especially if your proudly national champion is on the line. Who else? who else is asking? Is Yoshida asking the same and got rejected? if not then how can you make that conclusion. Pride is already bigger than Royce at that time. Economic is one of the main factors I believe, but if you know how Japanese are proud of their "Japan", you won't fall into that conclusion easily.
@Ardian1899 Yes, you can. They stripped Yoshida of his win, made him fight again, knowing he wasn't healthy for it, and under a whole new load of BS stipulations Royce made up. No one else asked because they knew better. They fought for Pride, not the other way around, and Pride makes the rules. They may have been bigger than Royce by himself, but not the Gracies, hence why the Gracies got every one of their demands without any comprimise or hesitance. They had more pull than Pride itself.
@Super8astard, I got your point. But I see it just as a differerent point of view. Considering Yoshida is okay with that (nobody is pointing a gun to his head right?), then it's still fair for both.
@Ardian1899 It was an unfair situation for the Japanese, and more evidence of how low the Gracie family was back then, but you're right. Saku fought under Gracie rule making without a second thought, so did Yoshida. For them it was only the fight that mattered, not the rules or even who won. Puts the vast contrast of modern bushido and the Gracie way of thought into perspective doesn't it? I think the younger generation has learned from it, and are bringing some honor back to the Gracie name.
@chunkysoup42 Striking changes everything. Anyway have you seen the way judo guys take advantage of their tourny rules? If you thrown out of bounds it doesn't count. So all you have to do is stay by the edge and you can never lose. How about kendo? They don't actually swing the shinai they flick it which is faster, but wouldn't work on a real sword. Their are a lot of stupid rules in almost every type of sport fighting.
@bertotee Why didnt he win the first fight with pure grappling then and with a gi of course a Judoka wil have a much harder time when the opponent have no gi to grab they don't train that way
yoshida was owned...listen to the commentary...royce though 39 at that time did amazingly well against yoshida who was 28 then. well, as the commentators said, "if judges were present, this fyt wud hav been awarded to royce"
Punches are just a sign that gracies' jiujitsu wasn't enough to defeat the judoka.I mean this was about jiujitsu vs judo, and I find this fight dissapointing and embarassing.I practice bjj but i wonder if judo is more effective.Judokas have always been the boogyman of the Gracies.
@artconva Judo basically is kinda of BJJ but judo has the same Ne-Waza (ground teqniques) such as armbars, gogoplatas, and Gi chokes Judo is superior to Jiu Jitsu because Judokas are very strong heres an example : A Blackbelt Judoka can Throw a 300lb. judoka over his head while a black belt in Jiu Jitsu can Tapout a super strong guy Judo is very effective im in an mma class we do judo and jiu jitsu until saturdays i was looking at history helio gracie invented BJJ mostly ground jiu jitsu
Pride FC Worldwide Holdings, LLC took this down from my channel a few years ago :( I had to upload it to shut up all the people years ago who kept claiming how much better Yoshida was than Gracie. Only their first fight was uploaded on youtube so I had to search for and upload this one.
Let's hope they don't touch this one. Gotta keep this fight on youtube!
@jav2512 And the thing is, BJJ is only pure grappling when it's used in sport competition. For fighting it's used like here and in MMA. What Gracie did here was less sport BJJ and more MMA.
And Royce has never been the best of the Gracies. I would have loved to see Yoshida vs Rickson, or Yoshida vs Rigan Machado.
Royce was useless with his pure brazilian style in the first fight and he couldn't win in this fight. Ju jitsu and judo are Japanese. There is no brazilian ju jitsu. It could be brazilian grappling.
steroids or no steroids a true champion fights anybody its like mayweather wont fight paquiao coz he's really afraid to fight. a true warrior fights galantly even if the opponent has a great advantage!! a lose is a a lose a win is a win...
Its true Gracie is a sore loser.. just like how he tested positive for steroids the second fight with sakuraba and they didnt give it a no contest. Yea he developed the sport with bjj but it was already being done in japan with Pancrase! he had success in the early UFc cuz he fought guys that were brawlers lol. Point being Royce is a sore loser and I hope Dana gives him the ok to fight Hughes again so he can get whooped AGAIN.
@biohybridsvt What "brawlers"?! Art Jimmerson - a legitimate professional boxer, Gerard Gordeau - 8-time Holland karate champion, 1991 world Savate champion!
@biohybridsvt That's the "normal state" of a striker! Prior to early UFCs/MMA - almost NO strikers trained ground game! This explains why they mostly lost in early MMA! For years strikers neglected grappling aspect of fighting!
@ussrwrestling Thats what im trying to tell you!! that early mma fighters in the ufc had no ground experience.. hence I want him to get his rematch with Hughes so that Hughes can woop his ass again!!!!
I wanna if Royce was on his stomach and Yoshida was punching away that the ref would of stopped the fight and made up some BS thing that royce couldn't defend himself. The first fight was BS - disgrace to the ref , Pride and Yoshida - me not speak english BS.
@y0bro 1 win for yoshida via controversial referee stoppage. 2nd and final fight officially a draw due to special rules which declared if the fight was not "finished" before the time limit it would be a draw. Yoshida was obviously dominated in that fight by gracie. probably yoshida's worst performance but nonetheless was dominated by royce.
@imKyurem Really? Well with all the gaming you do it's no wonder you're an expert.
Lets just ignore the fact that the it's founder was beaten by the leading judoka of his time and now his son is losing to the leading judoka of our time, rematching, winning with no gi and steroids.
Yeah, your case doesn't look too good. You want to prove you're the big dog? Come to Aberdeen, I won't hold by breath though because I know you're full of shit.
@ihaterobbie123 ahh first of all i dident say i was a master ima a white belt i do it everyday and i game whats rong with that hop off u random u and what ever gay martial art u do is been craped upon by rickson gracie im done
@imKyurem I do judo and how about instead of hiding behind other fighters (by the way, Rickson Gracie is a black belt in judo also, so HE would think you're full of shit) you put up or shut up?
You're not a martial artist, you're a fanboy arguing about which superhero is best. Big talkers are poor performers.
@ihaterobbie123 ok buddy cause u no me i bet i can still probably finish u judo is only good for gi so fuck off ill submit as a white belt so go fuck off ur probably alot older than me to and if ur around 15 ill bang ur shit in regurdless muy tai buddy
@imKyurem 1. Learn to punctuate you illiterate tard.
2. You can't spell the name of your own martial art?
3. You're 15?! No wonder you think you can take on the world. Forget the fight, grow some hair on your chest kid, then we're talking. Before that, learn to shut your mouth and train hard. In muay thai you don't see many fights, in judo we fight 15-20 times a week, you're green as grass.
@ihaterobbie123 ur cool but yet agian 1. when it came to it ur fag he lost 2.dont get mad at me for it 3.no one said they can take on the world 4. ur blocked
@imKyurem Royce Gracie made the rules for this fight and the last fight and still couldn't finish Yoshida. Give some credit where credit is due. Even if you discredit the ref stoppage in the first fight Royce Gracie did tap earlier in that fight but the ref didn't see it but the camera sure gets a good angle on it. There is no supreme martial art it all depends on the one using it. Royce had three advantages in this fight. 1. No Gi. 2. He made the rules of engagement. 3. Steroids
@ScarecrowCSG When did Gracie tap in the first fight? There was no tap. You're talking about when Yoshida had him in a shitty leg lock and Gracie braces himself. Tapping is distinct. The fact that you have to harp on something that is clearly not a tap shows your bias. The fact is that Gracie should've won this fight. The last five minutes was Yoshida covering up and a lot of times not even protecting himself.
@Ligierthegreensun If you watch the first fight from 5:00 to 5:10 you'll see where he tapped. How is it a brace when he slapped the ground once and then later hits the ground two more times and miraculously he starts to get out of the leg lock. Also you had nothing to say about how Gracie used steroids and decided last minute that he wouldn't use a gi. The fact that you harp on something that clearly was not a brace shows your bias.
@ScarecrowCSG I disagree about "there is no supreme martial art".Japanese decide to train their army with scientific judo instead of jiujitsu because they tested many judokas vs jiujitsu practitioners and results were overwhelming on behalf of judo. Now,i know that bjj is way more evolved than japanese jiujitsu but I still wonder : what's been more efficient based in results "bjj or judo" ?
@artconva I don't think that most martial artist train harder than guys in the military, Jiujitsu doesn't require a lot of strength so of course someone who is a practitioner in juijitsu won't be stronger than a judo martial artist thats in the military. Strength helps in avoiding some submissions like armbars if you can avoid your arm being straightened then you can't be submitted with it. Another situation is a double arm bar which my judo sensei tried doing to me and I just picked him up.
I've wrestled for 8 years and started doing judo in march or april. My judo sensei is a cagefighter so he invited the wrestlers at my college to come grapple with him so he could get used to it. When you do one martial art and start doing another its hard to compare them because you have to fight what you instinctively do in your base art and you don't know exactly how to defend against the new art. jitsu guys wouldn't know at that time how to defend throws because that was new at that time.
@southtxguitarist He made the rules and was supposed to wear a gi but decided last minute not to wear one plus he was on steroids. By the way did you miss the part where he was on steroids? Gracie was the one that decided if there was no finish to the fight that it would be a draw. If you make the rules of engagement for a fight then you should have the advantage which Royce Gracie did. being able to use a gi against someone is like having 4 arms.
@6millionlies14 judo is more throwing base with locks ( which is still good ) where bjj is basically mma without the striking and the way bjj is taught i think it helps ur mma game alot more ( but i have only done bjj not judo but, so i may not be correct it's just my personal opinion)
@MlgProJosh Judo as we know it today is actually a mix of jiujitsu, sambo, and folkstyle wrestling although recently they have made changes in the rules so that shooting for leg tatkedowns can only be done in combination. Judo still works well for mma but many of the throws they teach use the Gi as a weapon. I'm a 13 year folkstyle wrestler and I recently started doing judo. Judo works very well in mma because you don't need all the throws you just need to know how to shoot well in my opinion.
Everybody knows that with or without gi Royce is the best, Bjj is superior to any other type of fight and the first fight was totally robbed in favor of the Japanese, he didn´t tapout.
@gagap6 royce was never a great fighter,he only ever beat opponents who were either useless grapplers or wrestlers with shite sub defense like severn and shamrock.
@gagap6 I say that he got robbed? Maybe, but BJJ is the best fighting style? Far from it. Every style has its flaws. And BJJ has its major flaws and major strengths.
anyone who has seen some one go out in the dojo gym whatever knows he look like he was going or gone, some time you will be out and not know tell it is to late so it was stoped ref. new what he was doing sorry royce but you were out
lets live in the real..not partial to anyone..Gracie never tapped and never went limp in their first fight..it was obvious if you would just watch it lol. it frustrates me that people dont do their homework when they make comments. Royce proved he is better in this fight. oh yeah, that ref who stopped the first fight early, is from japan...hmmm haha
First match was a total BS match. I couldn't see him tap and after the fight he was yelling to Yoshida "You know I didn't tap." I think that Royce went easy on him the first match and didn't allow striking on the ground.
Bad Gracies... always changing rules to make bjj look good.

I don't understand why Yoshida didn't fight like he did before. But seriously, why give a 100% in a fight where my opponent dictates all the rules to his benefits? There is no honor in this and is not worth it. That is the japanese thinking.

Gracie know that he could't beat Yosida on regular BJJ and Judo terms. Using punches on the ground and not wearing a judogi is what made him win.

while the gracies are amazing at their art, theyre infamous for working rules to benefit themselves to make their art look better than it actually is. one of the gracies made the ufc rules, this gracie dictated this fights rules, and this one also basically cheated. "well i lost against yoshida last time with a gi and no striking, so now ill just change the rules so i dont have to wear a gi and i can strike". sneaky fucker, they'll do anything to get the upper hand in a cheap way
chunkysoup42 8 months ago 33
@chunkysoup42. I'm not any of the gracies, I'm not even a BJJ practicioner. But I can see all of ur arguments are nonsense and based on hatred only. Which UFC rules are favouring them? And how can u call this rules cheated when they both clear and agree on it? If any side having more influence on Pride, its'Yoshida not the Gracies.
Ardian1899 6 months ago
@Ardian1899 i never said the gracies cheated. but just because the rules were agreed upon doesnt mean that yoshida was at an equal handicap. if youre one of the best in the world, of course youll still fight a challenger even if he says there has to be conditions. and which rules are favoring the gracies? seriously? you show your clear ignorance and inexperience in all forms of mma just by asking that question.
chunkysoup42 6 months ago
@chunkysoup42, then let me ask the same question but from another point of view, which common rules are infavouring other fighter? Gracies are sissy in punch yet the allow it, Gracies are sissy in kick, elbow, etc, and yet they allow it. These rules in the early UFC is fair, but you tell me otherwise. Talk about this match, I've never heard Yoshida complaining or hesitate with the rule, then why would you?

Ardian1899 5 months ago
@Ardian1899 Oooooohhhh... So that's why Pride stripped Yoshida of his win, gave Royce all of his demands including no drug test and yet another rules dictation. Because Yoshida has more pull in Pride. That makes perfect sense.
Super8astard 6 months ago
@Super8astard, are you trying to tell me that Gracie has more pull in Pride despite the event is held by Japanese? When you held an international event, the last thing you want to do is infavouring your own. Either you favouring your own or trying to make the event as fair as possible. Or perhaps you want to tell me more about your sense?
Ardian1899 5 months ago
@Ardian1899 You need to get over nationalities. Pride was a promotion out to make money, those who generate it have more pull reguardless of where they sleep. If Royce says, "do what I say or I will leave Pride", Pride does what he says. This happened. Who else in Pride was allowed to stipulate their own rules? Who else was allowed to stipulate what their opponent could or couldn't do? You think Yosh could've done the same? Who's rules did have he no choice in using, twice? Economics son.
Super8astard 5 months ago
@Super8astard, you can't just get over nationalities especially if your proudly national champion is on the line. Who else? who else is asking? Is Yoshida asking the same and got rejected? if not then how can you make that conclusion. Pride is already bigger than Royce at that time. Economic is one of the main factors I believe, but if you know how Japanese are proud of their "Japan", you won't fall into that conclusion easily.
Ardian1899 5 months ago
@Ardian1899 Yes, you can. They stripped Yoshida of his win, made him fight again, knowing he wasn't healthy for it, and under a whole new load of BS stipulations Royce made up. No one else asked because they knew better. They fought for Pride, not the other way around, and Pride makes the rules. They may have been bigger than Royce by himself, but not the Gracies, hence why the Gracies got every one of their demands without any comprimise or hesitance. They had more pull than Pride itself.
Super8astard 5 months ago
@Super8astard, I got your point. But I see it just as a differerent point of view. Considering Yoshida is okay with that (nobody is pointing a gun to his head right?), then it's still fair for both.
Ardian1899 5 months ago
@Ardian1899 It was an unfair situation for the Japanese, and more evidence of how low the Gracie family was back then, but you're right. Saku fought under Gracie rule making without a second thought, so did Yoshida. For them it was only the fight that mattered, not the rules or even who won. Puts the vast contrast of modern bushido and the Gracie way of thought into perspective doesn't it? I think the younger generation has learned from it, and are bringing some honor back to the Gracie name.
Super8astard 5 months ago
@chunkysoup42 Striking changes everything. Anyway have you seen the way judo guys take advantage of their tourny rules? If you thrown out of bounds it doesn't count. So all you have to do is stay by the edge and you can never lose. How about kendo? They don't actually swing the shinai they flick it which is faster, but wouldn't work on a real sword. Their are a lot of stupid rules in almost every type of sport fighting.

Punches are just a sign that gracies' jiujitsu wasn't enough to defeat the judoka.I mean this was about jiujitsu vs judo, and I find this fight dissapointing and embarassing.I practice bjj but i wonder if judo is more effective.Judokas have always been the boogyman of the Gracies.
artconva 8 months ago 2

Point being Royce is a sore loser and I hope Dana gives him the ok to fight Hughes again so he can get whooped AGAIN.

imKyurem 10 months ago
@imKyurem Royce Gracie made the rules for this fight and the last fight and still couldn't finish Yoshida. Give some credit where credit is due. Even if you discredit the ref stoppage in the first fight Royce Gracie did tap earlier in that fight but the ref didn't see it but the camera sure gets a good angle on it. There is no supreme martial art it all depends on the one using it. Royce had three advantages in this fight. 1. No Gi. 2. He made the rules of engagement. 3. Steroids
ScarecrowCSG 9 months ago 37
@ScarecrowCSG When did Gracie tap in the first fight? There was no tap. You're talking about when Yoshida had him in a shitty leg lock and Gracie braces himself. Tapping is distinct. The fact that you have to harp on something that is clearly not a tap shows your bias. The fact is that Gracie should've won this fight. The last five minutes was Yoshida covering up and a lot of times not even protecting himself.
Ligierthegreensun 9 months ago
@Ligierthegreensun If you watch the first fight from 5:00 to 5:10 you'll see where he tapped. How is it a brace when he slapped the ground once and then later hits the ground two more times and miraculously he starts to get out of the leg lock. Also you had nothing to say about how Gracie used steroids and decided last minute that he wouldn't use a gi. The fact that you harp on something that clearly was not a brace shows your bias.
ScarecrowCSG 8 months ago
@ScarecrowCSG I disagree about "there is no supreme martial art".Japanese decide to train their army with scientific judo instead of jiujitsu because they tested many judokas vs jiujitsu practitioners and results were overwhelming on behalf of judo. Now,i know that bjj is way more evolved than japanese jiujitsu but I still wonder : what's been more efficient based in results "bjj or judo" ?
artconva 8 months ago
@artconva bjj was invented by helio gracie in 1993 i think because regualar jiu jitsu was in 4,000 years ago and it had takedowns
Dinox242 8 months ago
@artconva I don't think that most martial artist train harder than guys in the military, Jiujitsu doesn't require a lot of strength so of course someone who is a practitioner in juijitsu won't be stronger than a judo martial artist thats in the military. Strength helps in avoiding some submissions like armbars if you can avoid your arm being straightened then you can't be submitted with it. Another situation is a double arm bar which my judo sensei tried doing to me and I just picked him up.
ScarecrowCSG 8 months ago
I've wrestled for 8 years and started doing judo in march or april. My judo sensei is a cagefighter so he invited the wrestlers at my college to come grapple with him so he could get used to it. When you do one martial art and start doing another its hard to compare them because you have to fight what you instinctively do in your base art and you don't know exactly how to defend against the new art. jitsu guys wouldn't know at that time how to defend throws because that was new at that time.
ScarecrowCSG 8 months ago
@ScarecrowCSG Yeah, go ahead and pretend this was a draw. Royce was on top of Yoshida poundng of his head for how many minutes?
southtxguitarist 5 months ago
@southtxguitarist He made the rules and was supposed to wear a gi but decided last minute not to wear one plus he was on steroids. By the way did you miss the part where he was on steroids? Gracie was the one that decided if there was no finish to the fight that it would be a draw. If you make the rules of engagement for a fight then you should have the advantage which Royce Gracie did. being able to use a gi against someone is like having 4 arms.

MlgProJosh 1 year ago
@MlgProJosh Judo as we know it today is actually a mix of jiujitsu, sambo, and folkstyle wrestling although recently they have made changes in the rules so that shooting for leg tatkedowns can only be done in combination. Judo still works well for mma but many of the throws they teach use the Gi as a weapon. I'm a 13 year folkstyle wrestler and I recently started doing judo. Judo works very well in mma because you don't need all the throws you just need to know how to shoot well in my opinion.
