I need my geek fix and what's better than a girl doing really informative reviews? One thing though, keep them coming as regularly as possible. Subbed.
Jolicloud fucked up my computer horribly. It is supposed to dual boot with windows, but rather it erased my MBR and set GRUB up so Jolicloud was the only boot option, and I could not get back to windows. I ended up hooking the drive up to another machine, pulling off my data, and wiping the drive and reinstalling windows. This is something that happens with alpha, and maybe beta quality software, but never with a 1.0.
Ease up on the use of the word 'like' it makes you sound like an idiot. If Jolicloud runs better than Windows on your netbook, you must have a bit of a shitty underpowered netbook, so I suppose Jolicloud is the better choice for you.
@ItsMeRobin10 Disgusting? Not sure how that applies to Windows!? lol
Windows 7 is not slow. It was voted BEST netbook OS on Lifehacker. Jolicloud was rated fairly decently also, but well below the number of votes Win 7 recieved.
Jolicloud is OK, but don't kid yourself it can truly compare to Windows 7. It doesn't take advantage of all the hardware in your netbook, Win 7 does.
@LurkingCrassZero its not like i use my netbook to like do heavy stuff, all i do is go on the internet with it. and windows fails on that, it was actually slower to browse on teh internetz on windows than jolicloud.
Crazy to think, that everything that is on the homescreen on jolicloud is apps that I actually use all the time, apart from a few. This actually makes sense on a netbook!
@theman7431 Make a partitian on your hard drive for it so you can choose to boot into this or Windows. Before you begin though look for a guide on how to restore the "Master Boot Record" or MBR for Windows if you decide to delete it or Windows won't boot properly.
AH! No wonder I didn't see this vid.. I wasn't subscribed :( (Sorry Candice! There were a few peeps I missed when I had to resub to everyone with the new account).
i used jolicloud since the first beta came out. You forgot to mention it first ran on the mozilla prisin runtime engine then switched to google chrome. :)
does anyone know if this would be faster than xp on a 6 year old laptop [not netbook]
brian9827 1 year ago
@brian9827 most likely because jolicloud is less CPU and GPu intensive

Is it compatible with a built-in-wifi adapter?
jebug29 1 year ago
@jebug29 Most likely. I've been using it lately, and I think it's compatible with all Ubuntu-compatible hardware.

Linux owns. I predict this is where the distro Chrome OS will be going w/ combination of web + local applications.
