I also appreciate your belief to a monarchy in the sense of "sovereignty vested in one person" - namely, the Crown. I tend to agree that an Enlightened Monarchy is better than a Republic or a Democracy. However, I also tend to agree that a Monarchy which is not enlightened or is prone to corruption is distasteful.

I also find issue with the idea that sovereignty runs through blood, not merit.

I dislike pomp, but I don't mind some ceremony. Monarchy, if a tradition, can do more good than harm for a society. So, I wouldn't favour the abolition of the institution.

However, it is as much a tradition of this country that the Monarchy is accountable to the people. It has been for hundreds of years, first through the Lords and then through the Commons.

What with many politicians and bankers deceiving us, would you prefer the Monarchy to hold more powers than today?
