  • i assume that a bass flute requires more air than a normal one? i've played the flute and the piccolo, but i've never tried a bass.

  • we are officially not flautist anymore .... wooh to non ridiculous names!

  • Nice playing.

  • i play the for 4 years and ib just cant imagine the cost of that thing its beautiful

  • wow, i've played that particular solo on the regular flute and i happen to prefer the way it sounds on bass....it's really interesting it sounds almost like a sax or a brass instrument at times

  • The sound is amazing! I played Bass and Regular Clarinet for awhile but band just go too be to icky

  • Just out of curiosity what is the favored brand of bass flute?

  • haha. if you think that's crazy, look up a double contra bass flute.

  • the sound is sometimes similar to basson

  • i love the bass flute! my band teacher told me about it today and i looked it up and its the craziest thing i've ever seen! i've been playing the regular flute for 3 years but im quiting next semester because i dont realy like it.but im still gonna play on my own so one day i can get a bass flute and play it!

  • Lovely!

  • The sound makes me think of what you would get if you combined a violin and a wind instrument, marvelous.

  • a violin + wind instrument would be like a retarded duck scratching a piece of wire.

  • I Play Flute (Regular) And I Abosolutely ADORE The Sound Of Bass Flutes, I Just Dont Really Like The Look On Them. Lol. He Is Amazing On This Thing. I've Been Playing For 4 Years And Im 14

  • you will be a excelent flautist

  • I'm not crazy about the sound, but as a flautist I'd love to play a bass flute just once.

  • That has to take a lot of breath.

  • its amazing how a piece of metal tubing can make such beautiful sounds...

  • Dear Friend, the bass flute EVA KINGMA

is the best of the world

so much fantastic a pure sound

    Deep and very good pitch

I have One, and I love it !!

    BOHINDRA

  • holy crap, incredible timbre and overtones. great job

  • It Sounds Sooo Beautiful

    Thanks for sharing

  • I like these better than normal flutes.

  • Ahhh. I want one now. Are they more expensive that an normal concert flute?

  • I've been looking up prices because I want to save up money and buy one and the most common prices I've seen have been around $2500.

  • VERY cheap ones are around $1500 and are famous for going sharp in the second octave. Common name brands run $4000 to $7000. Really nice ones start at 10,000.

  • between $1,000 and $3,000 Is what I'v found in my recherch.

  • I always loved being in the lower registers with my flute. I really wish I could get my hands on a bass flute.

  • would you send me the notes/ music for this song.

  • seems nicer than normal flute can actually hear it in a band

  • I have been lucky enough to play the bass flute 3 times in my life so far (twice on stage ^^ ) and let me tell you, Playing a bass flute is like . . like . . . WOW.

(You know what I mean, right?)

After I played it the first time I couldn't get it out of my head for months(i kept going to ebay in hopes of a cheap one). It is the most amazing instrument to play ever!

    . . .

P.S. In heaven, the angels play bass flutes ; )

  • I think the angles really play bassoons ; )

  • woah, what the heck is that thing? A bass flute is the craziest thing.

  • contrabass flutes are even crazer!!!

  • i want one sooo bad.

  • Awesome! I'm a flutist!

what's the name of this piece? i played a portion of it in high school for an audition.

  • Sarabande by Haydn I think? I forgot

  • Its Sarabande

Middle school flutes played this for a region band tryout

  • absolutly beautiful.

  • woah... i want one...

i play just "normal" flute :)

  • is the bass flute played on a treble clef and have the same fingerings as a flute?? i REALLY want to switch over

  • Yes, it uses the treble clef and is the exact same fingerings as a flute. Just sounds an octave lower.

  • its like the cello of the flute

  • sounds a little like a basson

  • Ya! I'm a Bass Clarinettist, and my dream is to be a bass flautist!

  • Does this have the same fingerings as Treble Flute? I'd like to switch over.

  • i.. kinda.. want one O:

  • Nice job, but the ornaments are mordents, n-o-t trills...

  • wow, what a peculiar sound. now i can't decide between the bass flute or bass clarinet :S. anyway, beautifully played and a beautiful sound.

  • wow. that thing is beast. my sad little normal flute pales in comparison. i want one.

  • sounds like the cor anglais

  • love the sound:)

  • Oh my God. This has to be one of the most gorgeous sounding instruments I have ever heard. And you play it beautifully.

  • thats cause flutes kick ass... jus sayin

  • Haha I agree with you.

  • Oh my goodness, what a beautiful sound!

  • wow ive never heard of a bass flute and i have been playing it for 2 years ive only heard of a regylar fluta and a piccilo

  • This is amazing. I play the bass flute and this is one of the best demonstrations I have ever seen.

I wish you the very best of luck.

  • omg i want a bass flute! lol and a pic but i just borrow my friends pic lol

  • OMG!! I used to want to play the piccolo. Now i want to play this

  • is the fingering same as normal flute?

  • playing bass flute is cool...i've tried it

  • is it the same fingerings?

  • Yes, the same as a concert flute.

  • awesome, i play the flute and that was really good

  • Nice!! Playing a bass flute must take a lot of lung power!!! It would be cool to try one some day...

  • does it take alot of air? or more than a c?

  • bass probably isn't much more than a soprano flute. the piccolo, which i play, takes more air than my soprano flute

  • wow i never heard one..sounds nice.

  • wow! beautiful sound! you must be a wonderful flautist! i mean what ive heard of you, your great, but im sure your better like in rl. lol i play soprano flute and have been looking into getting some other kinds of flutes, but i just dont have the money. but now i see that when i do get a new one i am getting the bass! =D

  • dude, like how much does a bass flute cost?

    i reeeeeeeeeally want one.

  • they're really expensive. the cheapest price i saw was around 1,300 dollars

  • yeah....they're expensive...but omg...a decent oboe can cost 5,600 dollars...

  • 5 valve 6/4 silver yamaha tuba costs 22 grand, im sure theres an oboe that can top that though lol

  • Oh yes Godd Oboes, Bassoons, Clarinets (any size or pitch), English Horns, or Heckelphones can top that easy lol.

  • nice sound

  • I play the bass flute, and flute, and piccolo they're such cool instruments, with bass you have to work on your breath control, and posture, and it's hard to get 2nd octave notes.. :| And if you're wondering i'm 14, and my hands are particually small. So you should be able to play it. But you do need to practice a lot, to be able to play it, same as piccolo probs, but i'm finding all my instruments fine (: and cool video lol (: x

  • Hey

i'm 14 too i have a concert flute and picc but i dream of getting a bass but my parents won't let me ... i will when i'm older though x

  • likewise though i play plain ol concert flute me and my friend planing on trying the piccolo next year in highschool but since i've herad of the bass flute i've wanted to play it.

  • I doubt a school will have one to lend unless you go to a performing arts school. Plus they never use bass flute in band, i would get a piccolo before a bass flute.

  • There not that rare now days though. My friends school has a bass flute and they only have arround 36 kids in band and my scool just got a second for flute choir.

But I agree with you piccolo's are more practical to buy because they have parts in almost every band and Orchestra song.

  • i feel the same way T.T i hope my school discrict will have one to lend

  • i love playing the piccolo, but its so hard to play it in tune!

im 13 not like anyone cares hahah.

  • Wow...if velvet had a sound, this is it.

  • this sounds like something out of narnia

  • can you send me this sheet music. i play saxophone and flute.

  • This flute is amazing!! I play the normal concert flute but ever since I saw this one I've wanted it like really badly. But OMG they are so expensive. I'm thinking about asking my rich grandmother for one for christmas, but I don't even know if she can afford one. Does anybody know where you can get a cheap used one?

  • You could try ebay i'm always on the look out for a really cheap one . but there is a very small chance i will even be allowed to spend that amount of money anyway ( fourteen year old )

But there are always cheap ones popping up if your brave enought to have it shipped to you

  • I love bass flutes. Unfortunately, an ALTO flute is too big for my hands, let alone a bass flute ;_; Sigh.

  • does a bass flute have the smae fingerings as a C flute??

  • Yep! Same fingerings but just 1 octave lower in tone, etc.

  • I think it does, as it is in c and is jut an octave lower x

  • Why is it they have Bass Clarinet, Baritone Sax and all that in a windband, and exclude the bass flute >=(

  • I play flute but think the bass sounds way cooler and I want one but cant afford one they're so expensive.:(

  • You might be able to do a payment plan with a company if you try hard enough, that's how i got mine.

  • props to you, i cant even make a sound out of one

  • I wish I could play flute. xD

  • I have always wanted a bass flute but they are so darn expensive.

  • What etude is this? It sounds very familiar to me.

  • it's the third movement for the flute alone sonata from bach, bwv 1013

  • What etude is this? It is very familiar.

  • the only thing about the bass flute I dont like, is that it has 2 sounds to it, the warm low sound, and the higher bass weak sound.

  • ...which is the same for any wind instrument, pretty much. The tone quality of the instrument changes as you move through its registers. The strings, on the other hand, usually have a more consistent sound across its range.

  • yes but its more extreme on the bass flute than say an alto or C flute.

  • that is cool, and I really hate the sound of just about all ww instruments unless the player is godly.....

  • omg this is AWESOME! I totally want to play bass flute now! Does it change your embochure slightly like the picc does?

  • i got my bass flute for 1'000 dollars its awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow i've never heard of a bass flute. I've played a flute with basically the same head joint, just smaller.

  • how much its cost???

  • A LOT. Trust me.

  • It depends what you mean by a lot! It costs 1295 UK pounds - approx USD2500. For a bass flute, that's pretty reasonable.

  • I got mine from here at £1300. So great.

  • Well, yeah... that doesn't sound so bad.
