I don't regret my decision switching to this instrument. So much better than alto flute and Oboe! ( No disgrace to oboe's out there! I still loved playing you! )
wow, i've played that particular solo on the regular flute and i happen to prefer the way it sounds on bass....it's really interesting it sounds almost like a sax or a brass instrument at times
i love the bass flute! my band teacher told me about it today and i looked it up and its the craziest thing i've ever seen! i've been playing the regular flute for 3 years but im quiting next semester because i dont realy like it.but im still gonna play on my own so one day i can get a bass flute and play it!
I Play Flute (Regular) And I Abosolutely ADORE The Sound Of Bass Flutes, I Just Dont Really Like The Look On Them. Lol. He Is Amazing On This Thing. I've Been Playing For 4 Years And Im 14
aww, he cheated.... curved head joint. I've played it with straight head joint... VERY HARD! I almost popped my arm out of its socket. Great sound, though!
VERY cheap ones are around $1500 and are famous for going sharp in the second octave. Common name brands run $4000 to $7000. Really nice ones start at 10,000.
I have been lucky enough to play the bass flute 3 times in my life so far (twice on stage ^^ ) and let me tell you, Playing a bass flute is like . . like . . . WOW.
(You know what I mean, right?)
After I played it the first time I couldn't get it out of my head for months(i kept going to ebay in hopes of a cheap one). It is the most amazing instrument to play ever!
wow! beautiful sound! you must be a wonderful flautist! i mean what ive heard of you, your great, but im sure your better like in rl. lol i play soprano flute and have been looking into getting some other kinds of flutes, but i just dont have the money. but now i see that when i do get a new one i am getting the bass! =D
I play the bass flute, and flute, and piccolo they're such cool instruments, with bass you have to work on your breath control, and posture, and it's hard to get 2nd octave notes.. :| And if you're wondering i'm 14, and my hands are particually small. So you should be able to play it. But you do need to practice a lot, to be able to play it, same as piccolo probs, but i'm finding all my instruments fine (: and cool video lol (: x
likewise though i play plain ol concert flute me and my friend planing on trying the piccolo next year in highschool but since i've herad of the bass flute i've wanted to play it.
I doubt a school will have one to lend unless you go to a performing arts school. Plus they never use bass flute in band, i would get a piccolo before a bass flute.
There not that rare now days though. My friends school has a bass flute and they only have arround 36 kids in band and my scool just got a second for flute choir.
But I agree with you piccolo's are more practical to buy because they have parts in almost every band and Orchestra song.
This flute is amazing!! I play the normal concert flute but ever since I saw this one I've wanted it like really badly. But OMG they are so expensive. I'm thinking about asking my rich grandmother for one for christmas, but I don't even know if she can afford one. Does anybody know where you can get a cheap used one?
You could try ebay i'm always on the look out for a really cheap one . but there is a very small chance i will even be allowed to spend that amount of money anyway ( fourteen year old )
But there are always cheap ones popping up if your brave enought to have it shipped to you
...which is the same for any wind instrument, pretty much. The tone quality of the instrument changes as you move through its registers. The strings, on the other hand, usually have a more consistent sound across its range.
Oh my god... that comment came out so wrong.... playing the flute people, playing the flute
