  • Usually when you see a lot of these stormchasing videos, the chaser is all excited, bordering on being giddy for seeing the tornado.

In this video, the chasers FULLY RECOGNIZE that this is a very serious situation. That tornado was waaaay too big to be getting happy over seeing.

  • This has to be the most terrifying thing...a huge tornado at night.

  • Maybe the Sheriff and his corrupt Deputies down there won't try and Confiscate a Big Rig Again like they tried back in 2002, and trump up fake charges - what goes around comes around - strange how all charges were dropped once certain parties threatened to expose that sheriff and his Deputies down there !!!

  • @JetRanger0007 Whats this? Corrupt small town KS law enforcement? Nah! ...At least he didn't get caught selling prescription drugs to highschoolers like some Kansas sheriffs.

  • o.o omg, that was the coolest yet scariest thing i have ever seen.

  • I remember the Tornado that hit May 25, 1955. When I went to Greensburg to help, I was amazed how equal in damage the two were. The modern information these folks had saved a lot of lives when in 1955 all we had was little to no information of what was coming.

  • @MrCraig1930 I sould have said Udall, Kansas.

  • Reed wasn't in it because the strongest tornado him and his team have seen is an ef4

  • @griffindorboy your an idoit, im no nerd but i know my shit, reeds very first torando chase was the F5 oklahoma may 3 1999 torando get ur shit right

  • @griffindorboy He saw a F5 back on may 3rd 1999. The bridge creek/moore tornado. The strongest tornado ever recorded.

  • These guys ruin the viewers experience with all the juvenile behavior. I know there is a lot of excitement in the situation, but they reveal themselves to be more thrill seekers than weathermen. Some self control would be greatly appreciated by all who view these historic videos.

  • Suggestion...hire a different camera man.

  • i wanna chase these monsters to bad... just been my dream for the longest time

and this only conferms my love for them.

my heart goes ou to the people who lost family, friends, and homes due to this tornado, but i have to say, this is one of the best recent tornadoes ive ever seen

  • 1:35 tornado shape

  • I was in the F4 tornado in Hoisington Kansas in april of 01. Its some scary stuff man. Luckily i was in the basement, and the tornado changed direction right as it hit the edge of our block..our side of the street was okay but houses across from us were gone.

  • i still remember the day after that when it was on the news. i live in missouri so its wonder i find it fasinating.

  • poor cows. I'm not a vegetarian or a member of PETA, but I really wish there was something we could do to protect the animals from storms like this. I'm not placing the cows above the people of Greensburg, however, as my hear still goes out to the town.

and just curious, why no hands outside of the vehicle ever? and how did the police ever know that Daniel was found?

  • tremendous raw video. Awesome. so awesome, I subscribed.

  • I live kinda by greensburg and after the tornado our church went in for mission work and there was a field that didnt even get touched by the tornado and it was probably 5 or 6 miles away from the tornado and it was just filled with wood and all kinds of crap and some people even found like picture frames and watches and stuff like that it was amazing

  • 1:25 omg thx for telling it took me 3 or 4 trys to stop it there

  • 1:35

  • lol at 7:15 "i dont wanna blow up" xD

dont get me wrong or any thing but that wuz funni

  • My god that Tornado is huge!! 1.7 miles dam 1.7 miles that is just unreal.

  • I'm in no way trying to take away from the seriousness of this but towards the end when the guy says "Stop talking"...he MUST have been talking to Reed Timmer. I want to say that and more every time Reed opens his mouth. He is by far and away the most irritating personality I have ever heard except for maybe Richard Simmons.

  • I didnt hear reed in this video, its easy to pick his voice out and he was not in this one. He does better camera work, much better so i dont believe reed was in this one.

however, whoever was the "crew" should have learned how to say more than one sentence followed by bickering. They were not remotely close to being prepared for a chase. I hope they improved from this.

  • @ubenstupen I know im responding to a 10 month old comment here but I just wonder what it is that you like about Timmer? Because for me any video without his voice is a good one. I'm not trying to make light of this disaster i'm just honestly curious. I believe most of the time his mouth is open its nothing but things he thinks sounds good that he himself doesnt even understand. He just seriously irritates me.

  • @ubenstupen This is by no means a typical chase and the fact that they stayed remotely composed is quite impressive

  • i don't think reed timmer was there, it was derek, darin, and dick

  • Pause when it lights up at 1:25, my gosh.

  • 3:28... Unbelievable

  • I was just down there about a month ago and it's moving. Many houses have been built....chruches, and they're working on the school, hospital too. But their streets are in bad shape and weeds are growing almost everywhere.

  • this video is insane

  • 90% of that great town was wiped out. Good news and bad is the loss of life was minimal and they had close to 15 minutes to get to shelter. I have been to Greensburg and it is a nice place I haven't seen it since the storm hit though.

  • I was there a month ago....Just weeds everywere and there building...its insane...

  • That is sooo scary! I just read that an EF5 tornado, or this tornado THAT BAD, happens on an average of 1 TOTAL TIME in the U.S. It's so rare, and EXTREMELY scary!!!

  • Happens 1 TOTAL TIME of what?

  • that is insane. im looking for a job in storm chasing any openings

  • DYRECK??!??!!?!?! Hubbard? Dyrek hubbard?

  • good god whe they slowed it down at 4:48 it was right next to them.

  • my god

  • Well i do hope everyone had enough time to take shelter.

  • o mi gawd 2:57..... lol

  • and 2:00

  • 1:25 if u pause just right its huge

  • omfg that is huge

  • thats wat she said

  • hahahahahahahaahahahahahaha that was good

  • pause at 1:04

  • 1:35

  • The only word that can describe that is incredible.

  • coooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

  • Man, somebody roll up the window! :P

  • Well, obviously an EF5 looks stronger than an F5, but what is the difference between an EF5 and an F5 in terms of scale? What is the full scale spectrum of tornadoes?

  • EF stands for Enhanced Fujita, it's the scale that was put in place of the old Fujita scale (F) as of February 1st, 2007. The old F scale put F5 torandoes at wind speeds of 261-318 MPH, while the more advance EF scale places the wind speeds of an EF5 tornado at 200+ MPH.

  • i feel sad for greensburg

  • this IS AWSOME. I LIKE HOW you took this footage. I watched the EF5 tornado from my car 50 miles away. Isaw this huge tornado HIT THE WHOE TOWN THAT WAS SO WIDE IT COVERED half of the sun set

  • man i hate living in a place like Kansas since its in the middle of The TORNADO ALLEY

  • im with you i think there should be a law thats says NOBODY LIVES IN TORNADO ALLEY.i think there should be a law about that so there will be NO deaths every tornado season

  • While I don't agree that death is right, we can't just place people in the United States outside and around Tornado Alley. First of all, tornadoes are a beautiful phenomenon of nature, minus the death toll. Second, tornadoes happen elsewhere besides in Tornado Alley. Third, they're very helpful for science, and they are just fascinating for people like me.

Also as an additional note, tornadoes aren't the only disasters to occur in the United States.

  • I've been through an F3 before... I can't imagine an F5 :s

  • F3's are pretty damn big, am I right? I don't live where tornadoes frequently happen so I wouldnt know.

  • Yeah, they are big but no comparison to an F5

  • Jesus, F5's are the real deal then, huh?

  • Yeah, they are. I thought the winds were over 300 mph sometimes.

  • they in oklahoma once in a f5 they were 316mph i think maybe more

  • oh my gosh I start shaking and almost peeing in my pants when there is a lot of rain a little thunder and a couple stikes of lightning I would have a heart attack if i was there.

  • Thank you for putting your life on the line so that we have a better understanding of the world we live in. I know people in greensburg will get some closure by watching your videos. Sometimes just getting all the info can help the healing process.

  • MAN,wish i could have been there to chase that beaudy,i always wanted to see one like that in person, TORNADOES ROCK!!

  • pause at 3:28.. Wow

  • THATS HORRIBLE!! I HATE TORNADOES! poor people. i saw the disctruction. =(

  • it's too bad that this tornado had to demolish greensburg :(

  • Man that sucks, I dont think there is anything scarier then a Tornado at night, let alone that monster.

  • Sooo.... whats more funny?....peoples's lives being turned upside down..or your pathetic attempt at humor?....continue to be amazed at the lack of sympathy for victims!!...survived an F3 in Arkansas on April 2nd, 2006....you don't know 'til you've experinced it!!

  • @rock64bg i know it sucks. i have been through the same thing

  • @Steviethetornadokid Thanks.. Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of the F3 in Marmaduke, Arkansas. We're looking at some possible tornadic weather overnight tonight. Heads up to everyone.

  • @rock64bg i agree when i visited my gran in Wakita Oklahoma ages ago on the way to the airport from Wakita a large tornado was on the ground heading for my familys car we drove away from the twister we ended up in Kansas it was petty scary

  • your a moron!!!!...let it happen to you and we'll see how hard you laugh!...i survived an F3 in Arkansas....idiot!!!!!!

  • omg i feel so bad for greensburg

  • dang, this is one crazy tornado video.

  • I loe tonadoes, they rock! and the prople who chase them is even cooler! That thing is massive! but never chase them @ night, only morning, when you can actually see them!

  • OMG!

  • pause at 3:49 WHOA!!

  • i know like this help ccccc!

  • NEVER chase tornadoes at night cause u cant see it except when lightning strikes

  • wow

  • Wow, what a monster.

  • omg

  • looks like something out of a movie its just scary as hell

  • Tornados are cool! But they suck cuz they're so destructive!!!

  • right with ya there

  • Another perfect video, pretty good. Thanks again for another

  • Holy mother off god! W

  • That's a bad day for ya

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video. Well done.

  • fucking scary

  • OMFG, this is the sickest movie i have ever seen, its so insane!!!!

  • Holy

  • cool i wish i was there :D

  • lol i wish that i was never anywear close to it... and im greatfull i wasnt =P

  • This video pretty much defines my greatest fear: seeing something like that in my hometown. Thanks for your continued bravery in the field, so to speak.

  • I hate to ues the word "great" for this vid, but it certianly conveys the feelings and fears of all involved.

  • Is there more?

  • wow, that is some serious stuff. stay safe guys.

  • Wow is all i can say

  • Film really astonishing and appalling, unbelievable is the great tornado that toured this area was extremely high with a diameter very large and sweeping with everything that was on its way, is a storm that will never be forgotten by any stormchaser, stormchaser stake a key role in alerting the population to warn of the possibility of severe phenomena, as we like to pursue tornadoes and we warn prior to the population to make it safe.

Thank you for this film 5 stars ;).

  • I am actually wondering, since I am quite familar with the area if all those gas lines busted were not from homes as much as it was from Panhandle Eastern pipe line company, its just near town. Major gas lines there.

This video is awesome, I know this is my second post but I really can't thank you enough for posting.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I suggest everyone go to Greensburg if they are near there, they are really trying to rebuild and get on with life. Its amazing. My hubby's grandpa is a county commisoner there and the community really has come together.

That storm was terrible. Grandpa almost went to the high school for shelter, it was locked, he thought of a closet instead, but eneded up going to the hospital for shelter. Thank God, his home was GONE when he came back

  • Great Job!!!

  • all i can tell you if i saw that thing heading where i was i woad get in the basement and pray 5 stars good job guys

  • It's bad enough that the beast was an EF5, but at NIGHT? You can't see a thing! That's terrifying. It's the biggest threat that could possibly destroy your family and your home, and you can't even see it approaching. My heart goes out to everyone who saw that day/night.

  • it's kind of eerie knowing that at that moment, hundreds of houses are being torn apart.

  • The cows were hurt? :(

  • damn...i thought the audio was screwed up..it's the damn wind...daaaammmmn

  • Night tornadoes. It doesn't get much freakier than this.

  • wow awesome vid

  • Sadness - can't even begin to imagine what it was like - this comes closer than I want -

    *StormSpinner*

  • holy shit nice footage

  • HOLY SHIZZ

  • the cow or w.e it was was hurt :[ but i feel bad for those ppl

  • Man, that's scary. I'd have done messed my pants at that point. Just horrible.

  • wow.....just goes to show you the destructive power of nature

  • holy shit i paused the video 2 make a complety differnt comment, but pause it at 2:43

  • I heard about this on the show that had the "TIV" and they said they missed it.

  • Yeah, they did miss it. They would have made it there if it wasn't for Joshua Wurman's decision to head north instead of south. I have the show posted in my account.

  • that show on the Discovery Channel?

  • Yep. That's the one!
