50-60 lb.ft less torque and 200 less HP. The V8's don't have the grunt at lower RPM to handle higher gearing, so they run them as close to the limiter as they can, often running into it on the longest straight.
@PulletSurprise In 2006 was different just like 2005 and earlier when they throw 7th gear near the end of the straight. I hate this when they go from the start to the end of the straight on 7 gear. bring back the 3.0 V10 engines!!
The teams had a billion RPM to work with in 2006. The 19,000 RPM limits in 2007 forced them to use goofy gearing. Remember that in 2006 Cosworth, Mercedes, BMW and Toyota were all touching 21,000 RPM by the end of the season.
@nunchuckerz I like this new engine sound, because it is beautiful. Not because it's powerful, because it isn't. When I want a powerful sound, I listen to Mercedes C63.
Not even the late V10's in Monza trim could touch 380. Most teams will run the same wing levels as last year. Qual pace doesn't matter if your car chews up tires in the race and falls off quicker than everyone elses.
one of the better circuits

Oh this enigine sound just brilliant, especially with the headphones on. Its like it sees a corner and then wails for all the races in the past here.
