  • Absolutely great song. Best Motown song never to come from Detroit!

  • This only hit #63 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the fall of 1982, and the album "Men Without Women" only made #118 on the Billboard 200 (or, #18 on the Bubblin' Under 100).

  • great song

  • Very Asbury Park-ish!! LOVE THIS ONE!!!

    NYCにはたまにこういう物凄い江戸前のイタリア人がいて、思わず銀座かと疑ってしまう。

  • So happy to find this...made my day! I wore out my MTV vid of this AND the cassette I special ordered from a music store in Nashville...Thanks for sharing!

  • Good song and artist but Liberal hack!

  • LaBamba the food Juggler... LOL Juke Horns I remember talking with Ed Manion back in the day, the tour was expensive with a band that size. Great stuff.

  • I know that horn section can only be The Asbury Jukes

  • @501columbus - isnt it the miami horns? Not sure....

  • @camberwellcarrot68

The Miami Horns are a part of the Jukes

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs

    when

I was a young girl.I imagined Steven Van Zandt singing this song just to me.I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song and him too!!!

  • hahahaha! silvio dante. Steve Van Zandt. great guy

  • And when you see him on Sopranos this doesn't come to mind. And when you see this video, Sopranos doesn't come to mind. The same pretty much goes for his work with Springsteen. I''ve been a fan since this video and probably always will be.

  • Great video for a great song, one of my favorites from the best decade of music ever, the 80's. Too bad it's not in stereo to get the full effects of the awesome song, but I guess you can't have everything.

My favorite part and the part I remember best about the video, that made me look it up, is the black bass player with the white Mohawk riding a bike down the middle of the city street. Awesome.

  • That was a trip @2:23 seeing an old subway sign, back when they had double letter routes.

  • Man, I've been looking for this video for almost 20 years!! Thanks for uploading this!

  • hope she likes not only the music but the lyrics too :)

  • omg i used to love the bass player jean

  • Southside Johnny did this song the last time I saw the Jukes.

  • this album was(is) so good, played it till' it was worn out,by that time there were cd's,so i can play it over and over again, this is a song that really can make my day so much better:-)

  • With Dino Danelli on drums from the Rascals

  • love love love this song been looking for it for some time so glad i found it

  • when this song came out I wanted to sing it aswell, but we were a rockabilly band so it couldn't been done. I started a new band to do just this song, it never happened cause we had no horns and the vocals was to difficult cause its very high pitched, after 2 months we stopped this project. but its truly a great song and still I love it and I hope to hear it alot! it makes me feel getting older specially when I see this vid, then I know times goes by to fast! thanks for the add

  • Love this song...kinda reminds me of Smokey Robinson songs

  • @DutchHeartMonger1

    Exactly!

  • awesome

  • silvio > world

  • Wonder if the bass player still has that hair.

    And bicyle

  • Jean Beauvoir!

  • Bitter Fruit.

  • he looks like paul stanley

  • Best part of song is first , quiet chorus at 50" but it never repeats, the production is awful, voc way too high

  • little steven is truly my musical hero, and his radio station Underground Garage is amazing.

  • still have the Lp

  • he is the guy from Sopranos

  • He looks just like that guy in the Sopranos!!

  • because it is

  • still got the 45 and it is LOUD! my favorite song EVER.

  • I still have this one on 45.

  • thanks for posting this video!!

    luv the Akita at :58

  • aah boy. no greater video than this. this WAS nyc in the very early 80's. fyi this was to be part of a mj thriller-like mini movie - i wish steve would let loose of the rest of the raw video, he has it, but he already said he wont. oh well. lol at la bamba and his chinese food.

  • Rock. Deus ex Machina, Bruce is the Motor, he is the fuel, E = E-Street = Explosion = mc2.

  • Even back then Steve already looked like and had the same stroll as his Sopranos character Silvio... :-)

  • wow he looked like himself?

  • I saw them live at Hammersmith Palais in London, must have been 1984 or so. Great fun!

  • To pajholden. I was there too! Great gig, but I'd seen them a couple of nights before at the UEA, Norwich playing to a crowd of about 50! They gave it their all...best gig of my life....and I've been to few!

  • Thank you very much for posting this video, brings back many many memories. thanks again

  • Great tune. For me this song needs just a little bit more horns in the background - bit more trombones & tenor sax.

  • he had la bamba and the hubcaps. you want MORE horns?

  • Actually, thats the Miami Horns...no Hubcaps for a good few years yet.

  • Excellent song !!! BTW, as far as "Tears Of A Clown" listen to them back to back. I think you'll be shocked. Great to see a young LaBamba and Rusty Cloud plus Jean Beauvoir great solo artist and former Plasmatic plus Dino on the drums !!!!!!!

  • silvio dante lol

  • Great song

Always reminded me of Smokey Robinson's "Tears of a clown."

I remember driving my '78 Monte Carlo with the windows wide open blasting it over and over off the cassette deck down the Jersey Shore in the early 80's.

I'm glad Southside includes it in his shows.

    LaBamba is cool.

  • Good tune, good memories, I remember summer cruising down the beach with this some blasting....Thanks

  • This is a really cool song - very Motown - I agree with richi66, this should 've been a hit. Thanks so much for posting.

  • @Marisa36 it was a hit in holland back in the days ;)

  • Little Steven could always tear it up - just like the Boss! Haven't heard this in years.

  • Great pop tune. Came into my head tonight and it still sounds catchy as ever. Should of been a hit.
