This only hit #63 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the fall of 1982, and the album "Men Without Women" only made #118 on the Billboard 200 (or, #18 on the Bubblin' Under 100).
So happy to find this...made my day! I wore out my MTV vid of this AND the cassette I special ordered from a music store in Nashville...Thanks for sharing!
LaBamba the food Juggler... LOL Juke Horns I remember talking with Ed Manion back in the day, the tour was expensive with a band that size. Great stuff.
And when you see him on Sopranos this doesn't come to mind. And when you see this video, Sopranos doesn't come to mind. The same pretty much goes for his work with Springsteen. I''ve been a fan since this video and probably always will be.
Great video for a great song, one of my favorites from the best decade of music ever, the 80's. Too bad it's not in stereo to get the full effects of the awesome song, but I guess you can't have everything.
My favorite part and the part I remember best about the video, that made me look it up, is the black bass player with the white Mohawk riding a bike down the middle of the city street. Awesome.
this album was(is) so good, played it till' it was worn out,by that time there were cd's,so i can play it over and over again, this is a song that really can make my day so much better:-)
when this song came out I wanted to sing it aswell, but we were a rockabilly band so it couldn't been done. I started a new band to do just this song, it never happened cause we had no horns and the vocals was to difficult cause its very high pitched, after 2 months we stopped this project. but its truly a great song and still I love it and I hope to hear it alot! it makes me feel getting older specially when I see this vid, then I know times goes by to fast! thanks for the add
aah boy. no greater video than this. this WAS nyc in the very early 80's. fyi this was to be part of a mj thriller-like mini movie - i wish steve would let loose of the rest of the raw video, he has it, but he already said he wont. oh well. lol at la bamba and his chinese food.
To pajholden. I was there too! Great gig, but I'd seen them a couple of nights before at the UEA, Norwich playing to a crowd of about 50! They gave it their all...best gig of my life....and I've been to few!
Excellent song !!! BTW, as far as "Tears Of A Clown" listen to them back to back. I think you'll be shocked. Great to see a young LaBamba and Rusty Cloud plus Jean Beauvoir great solo artist and former Plasmatic plus Dino on the drums !!!!!!!
Always reminded me of Smokey Robinson's "Tears of a clown."
I remember driving my '78 Monte Carlo with the windows wide open blasting it over and over off the cassette deck down the Jersey Shore in the early 80's.
Absolutely great song. Best Motown song never to come from Detroit!

Best part of song is first , quiet chorus at 50" but it never repeats, the production is awful, voc way too high

Great tune. For me this song needs just a little bit more horns in the background - bit more trombones & tenor sax.
ZiegeGF 2 years ago
he had la bamba and the hubcaps. you want MORE horns?

Actually, thats the Miami Horns...no Hubcaps for a good few years yet.
