@dasdasist There are few similarities, the most obvious for System shock 2 players is the Hydroponics deck mission of killing the organic matter growing on walls and affecting the air quality. Basically Dead Space used the same premise up to the point that the player's job is to find a special chemical and place it in environmental regulators, just like in System shock 2. Additionally there's the "restore the engine power mission" and also based off a similar one in that game
@dasdasist EA owns the rights to the System Shock franchise and Dead Space was called System Shock 3 when it was still early in development. It turned out a pretty good game but it's a good thing they renamed it because it is in no way a System Shock game. It feels like a spiritual successor taking a different approch than Bioshock.
@ale9z In non-modified version of System shock 2 - a.k.a "vanilla", midwifes lack an attack animation that would enable them to reach the player with their melee moves. Some unofficial patches and extensions barrow hybrids animation scripts, making this exploit (almost) obsolete.
@JudgeDeadd Aside from two or three professionals, most of the voice talents in this game are the designers themselves - complete amateurs. I'd say they did pretty well, for today's standards when you have Hollywood stars doing voice-overs for video games it may sound silly, for but for 1999, it was pretty good.
I find it stupid the only way to kill monkeys is by shooting them with a weapon or using your strategy. Couldn't goggles just step on the monkey and kill it? Maybe someone should make a foot stomping mod for monkeys and worms.
Dr. Miller, an infected scientist, kidnapped female staffers, one by one, and "augmented" them using a surgical bed. He performed illegal and cruel modifications to their bodies like mechanical prosthetic and cyber-implants. The sole purpose was for those midwifes, as he called them, to protect the annelid eggs, and hunt down remaining uninfected humans.
@ShephardReborn, there's a interesting thing about the Bloome Midwife after killed: her corpse will never disapear. Sorry for my bad english, I'm brazilian.
Yeah Loesser's reaction to the cyborgifications is a total let-down. Not only does she not do anything, but from her tone of voice you'd think Miller stole her parking space.
Oh yeah, to be clear, I think the ghost scene between Bloome and Dr. Miller is awesome. But the audio log from Angela Loesser after she sees Bloome is different. She should be horrified, but she starts off talking more like Bloome had a bad haircut than the fact that half of her body's been removed.
Lol, great stuff, as usual. Especially the way you got rid of that midwife. Death by dancing, never a good way to go :P
It's funny, when you brought that monkey all the way to the window, I figured you were gonna dodge both the midwife and the cryokinesis and do some kind of epic manuever, but nope, you killed yourself, haha!
Yeah.. believe me I tried to do that again, without getting killed - but I forsaken it after several failed attempts. I hope one day someone will follow similar gameplay path as me.. and succeed.
I was so frustrated in the body of the many i have started to use cheat codes for getting lot of AP ammo for the riffle.... it was very hard to do and restarting again and again was pissing me off xD. Can't wait to see how u manage that, also u cannot finish the game if u don't kill the Many and Shodan... hehe

why midwife cannot harm you while you're ducking?

It reminds me of som types of monsters in 'Thief3' - miners, statues, kushroks and some others - who cannot damage ducking player.
But thief3 engine is different from thief1,2 and SS2 ones. So i wonder...

"What is Love" sequence was so good. Please, you need to finish this series.

The ghost scene isn't that good... Erin's voice sounds silly and not like someone in lethal danger.

But I will keep this style of gameplay as long as it's possible
ShephardReborn 3 years ago
Holy crap, good luck getting through the body of The Many. I can't imagine how you'll manage that.
darren8475 3 years ago
It's possible, don't worry I'll manage that;-)
The main problem are now the 3 red cyber-assassins in Ops, and 15 "super eggs" on Rickenbacker.
ShephardReborn 3 years ago
I forgot about them D: Aren't some of the eggs isolated from enemies though?
darren8475 3 years ago
Yes they are isolated that's the main problem about it:/ I have to find a way to destroy them hopefully without using weapons
