Houston is where CO is headquartered, so yes it is also their home turf. But EWR is, to use CO's own words, their "global gateway" and fortress hub in the New York area. And one can see why. About a year or so ago (or longer) EWR has surpassed IAH in number of daily flights as well as amount of revenue brought in.
yes they do, I live in NYC and all the subway stations and trains in times sqaure are usually filled with CO ads. But I think New Yorkers prefer LGA or JFK rather than EWR.
I think it depends where you live in the NJ/NY area which airport you would prefer and what destinations. Since LGA only has domestic destinations people would rather travel to EWR or JFK to get a direct flight. Some might even prefer going to EWR to avoid the long lines at immigration.
