  • amazing thank you!

  • How long does it usually take to make one diaper

  • I like everything, very helpful. I'm thinking of making my own but I'm having a hard time finding the fabric. What kind of fabric are you using & where did you find yours, I love that color!

  • @Citlallygagging verybaby(dot)com and wazoodle(dot)com have great PUL selection at very reasonable prices

  • I like everything about this diaper except the insert. And I would use a micro fleece lining. Excited to try it out!

  • So you don't sew on the elastic at all?

  • @TheFernandezs No, the topstitch creates a casing at leg opening.

  • i love ur video style thank you

  • Curious. I'm currently baking bambino number two in the oven :) and I am very interested in making the switch to cloth diapers. And the idea of making them myself is even more exciting. However, I have never sewn a day in my life. My husbands giving me the thumbs up on investing in a sewing machine and a couple beginner courses but I'm curious if even with that that I will be getting way too far over my head with this task. Is this appropriate for beginners or more of an advanced sewing task?

  • @xkrayonzx I gave my boyfriend (who had only sewn in his home ec class 15 years ago) all the diaper pieces and the instructions (no video) and he made a nice pocket diaper without any help. It took him about 1/2 day. The topstitching was not perfect and the elastic casings were not even, but it was very well made (Henri outgrew it). I'm sure that with video and some patience you could easily make your own diapers. Keep in mind that the more you sew the quicker/better you get.

  • when drying it on the dryer wont burn the plastic?

  • @claudiagm No, it won't. It actually helps prevent leaks by "closing" the holes made by needles. I would always put Henri's diapers in the dryer and the laminate fabric still look brand new after more than a year!

  • where can you purchase this pattern?

  • @lmadams123 you can find this pattern on our website (jalie.com)

  • where did you find the best price for your velcro? I run out of the soft portion so quickly and i end up with tons of ruff velcro left over. is there a place i can get just the one without the other?

  • @8RachelN

VeryBaby.com has Velcro reasonably priced and you can purchase hook or look side separately in 1", 1 1/2" or 2" widths. It's where I purchased mine from =)

  • First of all, great job! You're a pro for sure! My only question/concern is that the diaper does seem a bit bulky. Is there any fabric one could use for the soaker so as to make equally as obsorbant but with less layers?

  • @jabs085

Zorb is a newer absorbent fabric from Wazoodle for diaper inserts. I purchased 3 yards for all of my soakers. It takes less fabric for the same amount of absorption.

  • Hi,

I got your pattern and am getting ready to sew pocket diapers. Though I was wondering if I could use flannel or some other fabric instead of PUL on pattern pieces C and B? Seems like they are not gonna be in direct contact with wetness so I was hoping to substitute them with a breathable fabric. :)

  • @asmat1984 Using PUL for piece C prevents wetness to seep all the way to the edge of the diaper. If you use flannel, you might end up with leaks around the waist if your baby is a havy wetter. For piece B, PUL provides a bit of of stretch, but it would probably work just as well with flannel.

  • Very clear video, but from other tutorials that I've watched it says not to pin the PUL because then it won't be waterproof, so I'm confused as to why this pattern was pinned. Any thoughts?

  • @kaltey When you wash the diaper in warm/hot water, the laminate expands and covers the holes. Still, we try to pin as close to the edge as possible. When sewing, we make many more holes than when we pin and the diaper is still waterproof :)

  • This is an excellent video. I am wondering though, I hate velcro, can snaps be supplemented? If so at what step would I put hem in?

  • We used the Baby Lock Imagine (serger) and Baby Lock Espire (sewing machine). You can see pictures of both of them at the end of the video (6:25).

  • I didn't purchase this pattern, but have been struggling with how to create the casing for the elastic in my own. Thank you so much for this: it truly took hours and the heartache out of doing these diapers!

  • Thanks for this video! I can't tell you how CONFUSING their pattern + instructions are! There are even mistakes in the instructions! This clarrified everything for me....and prevented me from chewing Jaile's ear off!

  • This was the first diaper I made. If I was doing it with just the pattern, I would have set it aside and made another. But this video made all of the difference. I was running back and forth from computer to sewing room and I ended up with a great diaper for my son that fit him well. Amazing how clear it all was without words!

    Thank you.

  • This is an excellent video!! Very clear and cutely made! I totally laughed out loud at the cute music and sound affects. I can't wait to try this pattern when my materials arrive and I will definitely be following along to your video! :)
