I just got my first dove, shes a small diamond dove. I just had her wings clip for safty while shes getting used to me, I plan to let them grow back out and train her. anyways lemme know if you have any tips. your doves are soo cute!
..... doves are not like parrots and parakeets, it is very dangerous to clip their wings because it causes lots of stress and their wings are built differently and it can damage wing tissue. you bird might never fly again. i hope you're happy you ruined your bird's life for your selfish desires
My 10 year old doves aren't clipped, but I know that clipping them won't hurt them. In any case, it will always grow back. What is more, for some people-- it maybe best to clip their doves because once a dove escapes... it's escaped. And then it suffers because their bills are soft, their only defense is to "fluff up"-- and, if they're white, they become easy prey for hawks, cats, and other predetors. This isn't about selfish desires but protecting your little birdie.
I'm baaad. I got the white one (Ghost) from Pet Depot. I wanted a new dove after my old one died and that was the only place that had doves. The tangerine (Obi) was originally bred by some lady and then let free. Someone was able to catch her and bring her inside during a storm.
I give credit to doves for being beautiful and gentle. And for being awesome. I love their coo. Where did you get them? Oh yeah you.......are a good person.

Personally, i prefer cockatiels, galahs, palms, and greys. did you try petsmart for doves? i saw them there for about $30.
