Hi Patrick..I have an RK-35 resonated banjo...been thinking of going to Open Back for ease and weight even though I pick..what do you think about such a renovation on such a nice 5 string??
I haven't mastered three finger picking or clawhammer, but I have fun with my cheap Conqueror resonator banjo whether I'm strumming the chords to "Five Foot Two" (What?! on a five string?!) or finger picking the complex chord progression to "City of New Orleans"or whatever else I feel like doing.
Thanks Pat, I just finally got a banjo, that one exactly. I been playing gtr for over 20 yrs, but have wanted a banjo for a long time, it was on my to get list. Your video was very informative, thanks bro
Thanks SOOOOO much for this. When I decided I wanted to learn banjo, the person that sold me the banjo was a three finger bluegrass player. So, they sold me a Morgan Monroe Rockytop!!!!!!
I so much prefer frailing banjo..... This video is an answer to my prayer. I don't have to buy an openback.
Wow I didn't know you could actually tinker with a banjo to that extent. It's like it's all modular. I've totally got to get one!! Thank you for posting this!
Brilliant! It could take years to learn important basic things like this and its been a great help to me to know more about how a banjo works re-stringing etc. Thank you so much ..excellent tuition
I was thinking about converting my banjo to open back, but I wasn't sure if I would lose too much volume without the resonator on it. I play outdoors in a folk group, so I need to be able to cut through the rest of the bands music. So will I lose much volume if I take off my resonator? Thanks!
Im a big fan. You've taught me a lot over the years. Great video. Coincidently I took my banjo apart last night to remove the resonator and have been fiddling around trying to set it up right since. So this vid was timely. Kindest Regards
I found this video extremely helpful. I had already managed to convert my beginner resonator banjo through guesswork, but I had no idea about the tailpiece. Thanks!

are the screws for the resonator attached at a certain tightness or are they just tightened to hold it on to the back
