Awesome vid, I also grew up playing all these old point and click adventure games (I'm 32). I used to map out the screens on a piece of paper by drawing rectangles and lines connecting the various screens, with brief descriptions in each box of what each screen contained. Gamers today have it so easy!
Very cool! I just sold my Tandy 1000TX with a copy of Space Quest. I had King's Quest II and Thexder at one time. Fun old system, but it was just gathering dust in the garage. Hated to part with it, but it was just taking space.
Just want to tell you guys that I love you all. Reading your comments make me feel right at home. I loved all the early Sierra games. Someone mentioned Colonel's Bequest, great game and I wish it would be re-released today.
Man this brings back so many memories from when I was a kid in the 80s! I used to have tons of Sierra games back then. Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Colonel's Bequest (my fave), Leisure Suit Larry, Gold Rush... Good times!
If I remember correctly, the first King's Quest was specifically developed to take advantage of and to promote PCjr. Apparently the engine used for Sierra's early graphic adventures, AGI, shows the signs of being originally developed with PCjr's hardware in mind (most notably resolution and the sound format). Perhaps the best way to play AGI games with modern computers is to use modern AGI interpreter such as NAGI or ScummVM.
@fidgophone Yes, I did it to my origina Tandy 1000, all you need is an 8-bit ISA or 8-bit ISA compatible 16-bit SCSI Card with a BIOS boot ROM, a 50 pin SCSI cable, and a SCSI HDD.
@g00glian0 Are you sure that you aren't speaking about Conquests of the Longbow? It was one of Sierra's first 256-color adventures and released in both 16-color (for computers without VGA support) and 256-color versions. Also, you can download it legally for free at the homepage of the person, who designed that game, Christy Marx. However, that download doesn't include docs or patches for that version (1.0). The former is available at replacementdocs and latter at Sierra Help. Just use Google :)
omg thank you...i used to play that as a kid and never knew its name...i found this video today and recognized it...finally!!! i was searching for this the last 10 years! THX!!
What was amazing about the Tandy 1000 and Sierra games was that you had 16 colors on a CGA or EGA screen. You had to play games using either the Cyan/Purple color scheme or the Red/Green color scheme to appreciate this. Kings Quest was the other fantastic series from back then.
I have an older Pentium computer with a DV Capture card and capture software. I ran the Tandy via composite vid out and audio out to the Pentium and recorded the footage on that. I have plans to do more vids soon with a more tricked out Tandy 1000 (I have one of the full desktop models now, and put a SCSI Hard Drive in it so no more disk swapping). I have to rip some band videos first though.
Seriously, this is the only thing I remember from age 5-8 other than Kids Incorporated. Thank you so much for posting this-- I wish my Tandy was still alive!
The memories! I remember having this game on my Tandy, and sadly almost beat it. I got as far as rescuing the princess from the Horned King in the dungeon of his castle. Thanks for posting a video of this, it really brought back the memories :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Finally, someone who records DOS games played on an actual DOS computer! Do some more Sierra games!
And another question: how *did* you record this?
