  • We adopted a young dal from a rescue last winter. He turns 2 in Jan. He has a good temperament and ridiculously athletic...um..okay I'll confess - he really likes to sprint/cut and to jump over other dogs at the park. (no they don't like it) Not kidding. Is it too late to start agility training?

  • Dals are fun to train whatever their age. Find a club to work with and remember, Dals were not bred to please you like a Golden or to do your work like a Border Collie. They are built for endurance and have a high center of mass so they are not the most agile of dogs. Enjoy.

  • Thank you! This is our second Dal..I would 10 times rather have the Dal over a Golden! :) I hope agility training would give him a nice outlet for the "I want to leap over something" instinct. :)

  • It seems that my Dal likes agility, too, and she's only 9 months old =) Whenever I take her for walks in the trails, she ALWAYS runs by me, back and forth, making sure to make sharp turns AND to dodge me haha. And she shuffles through trees like nuts. Do you think she has potential? She's incredibly fast, too haha

  • that reminds me of mye own Dalmantian. She is just 1 year so we are new in this sport. How old are Porter?

  • Porter just turned 3 in July. I have started training a younger half brother, and he like his sister loves agility.

  • Do you have some trainer tips? for a beginner like me? :-)
