Not a bad idea at all. The problem, of course, is that without the overarching union there would probably still be Jim Crow laws in the south. I've imagined breaking it up into 4 pieces West, South, Midwest, and East and reverting the unifying along the lines of a federation. As the country heads to 400 million people the representative part of our government is getting a little thin.
What we really need in this country is for people to realize and government to recognize, that 50 soveriegn states make up this union and we as citizens of those soveriegn states are not held hostage by the federal government, which has numbered powers;
1. the power to regulate interstate commerce
2. the power to regulate import export
3. the power to regulate crimes against the federal government.
4. the power to deal with matters of national security.
I'm not against the manufacturing of the so-called "post-ban" guns that the manufacturers in the "UZI Triangle" are fabricating. Just so long as they don't fall into the wrong hands... and if they do, it should be up to the States to prosecute the misuse of the guns.
You can't just start eliminating states because you don't like what goes on there.
the post ban went away when the law sunset in 2004. All that ban did was prohibit cosmetic items on semi-auto rifles with detachable magazines.
However, I agree exactly with what you said, if there is a missuse of a weapon in an actual crime, the states have all the authority to prosecute. Mere possession, should not be a crime.
I don't understand why we have digressed with the advent of great technology. For example, air travel - what purpose does it serve? For the cost of a round trip across the country, you could instad buy a computer and have a teleconference with business associates or prospects, and not just once but multiple times. I can't understand the wastefulness of this travel shit. I'm fine staying at home and visiting anywhere in the world on my internet. In fact, I prefer it that way.
"Good attempt at creating the great divide between the nation states and the nation as a whole."
If the people of MS want the death penalty but the people of WI choose not to have it, that's not a divide, that is simply states excercising their sovreignty.
I agree but your statement relates to criminal law and that is the way it is already unless prevailing federal law supercedes state sovereignty. But I could see how it might be helpful to the people to strip the feds of all of their horrendous powers that tend to oppress us, rather than elevate our liberties and our economic status or opportunities.
If you think about it, America is a country of laws, it's not about freedom or liberties or any of that, or else we wouldn't have the most prisons and the largest per capita inmate population in the world. I think people need to wake up and see past their braindead eyes.
Why the 3 Divisions if we are going back to 50 individual sovereign state rights?
Washington DC is already a sovereign country if you think about it.

I've advocated the country of New England for a long time. I'd happily include NY, but that's about as far as I'm willing to go.
No southern states. No Bible pounders.

"1.the power to regulate interstate commerce"
this should be left up to the States
"2.the power to regulate import export"
again, should be left to the States doing import/export with other states and countries
"3.the power to regulate crimes against the federal government."
there would be no Federal Govt., so this would be moot.
"4.the power to deal with matters of national security."
the States can secure themselves individually with their militias, and can ban together if and when necessary.

why did you keep the UZI Triangle in the western division? Hahahah, you didn't know there was an UZI Triangle? Hmmmmmm? It exists...it's fact.

Good attempt at creating the great divide between the nation states and the nation as a whole.

Thank you.
I do believe this is what the founding fathers had in mind anyway.
The Federal Govt. exists only because we needed it when the country was born.
It is obsolete, in my opinion, because with technology today, people are much closer together than they were back then.

I agree completely.
Life is too short NOT to be at home as much as possible. Traveling is overrated.

You're preaching to the choir, I'm fully aware of prison overcrowding and net widening and three strikes laws and yadda yadda.
