In fact there's other original settlers especially in Borneo Malaysia that consist of hundreds of ethnicity. Under the Malaysian constitution, a person who practices the Malay culture and is a Muslim, is a Malay.Hence, the logic states that Malaysians are Malaysians, normatter what blood you have. Just because I'm a Malay, doesn't mean I can mock non-Malays.
