You know there's a real working "tricorder" called the PHAZIR. The first models cost about 24,000 dollars U.S., but the cost must be lower by now.
With FLIR, range finding and remote temperature scanning all the technology exists for a real practical tricorder. It'd cost a butt load, though. FLIR technology is expensive as shit.

Those replicas can cost $400-$800 depending on type.
