Its definately an auto.. but because its a 5th gen there's a good chance he'd have semi-auto from the wheel. Manual is the way to go if you wanna get the most out the VTEC - Takes a while to kick in but when it does you can keep it there through the gears. It's not the fastest thing on the road... its just lotsa fun to drive!

if this car is manual then you'r doing the shifting wrong.the vtec is supose to kick in only one's,and when you change the gear to the next one you'r supose to be in the vtec automaticly.and that not what i heard.
