Tonight I just found out that Eddie Sauter wrote some music for this show. Sauter's approach to music is more avant garde than this theme...so he may have only written background stuff for the show...But themes are themes....you never know.
Sauter worked with Stant Gets in producing the unbelievably amazing soundtrack Mickey One, and Stan's studio classic Focus. Get them. There's nothing like Mickey One. It will never be dated. Not like this theme music which has a period vibe.
@filmidioten Robert Wagner was actually a fan of Eddie Albert's before they became costars. Sharon Gless came to the show as the last "contract player" signed by the studio. You're right... This should be on DVD.
no, definititely not confusing Charlie's Angels with Hart to Hart , if that could be humanly possible. He ma have been bought out after the pilot stage I am not sure . Read his autobiography, it is mentioned there and elsewhere. he was instrumental in getting Jacklyn Smith - seen here briefly?- her Angels' gig.
Although the particular effects associated with these opening titles (the vertical lines moving around in differing colors, f'rinstance) would be copied by WOR-TV for their opening of "The 4 O'Clock Movie" beginning c.1977-78, with the backing music consisting of Neil Richardson's "The Riviera Affair" from 1970.
For some reason this is a TV theme that I have always remembered -- even though this is the very first time I have heard it since I watched the show in 1975! Thanks for posting and thanks for the memories.
Wow, I have not heard or seen this since its original airing but I remember it well, because that show gave me the hots for Sharon Gless for some time!
I also remember it was a well-written show with a lot of funny byplay between Wagner and Albert.
Yes. I think it was in 1975. The first season had a different theme (you can find it on youtube). What a terrific duo. In france they aired only 13 episodes but it's still in a lot of memorys...
So does anyone have these episodes? It was always fun to watch--especially the early stuff. Box set? Crazy cable channel? Any production guys/actors out there got old copies of the shows?
Only resaon I am here is because it just popped up on the RTN (Retro Television Network) which we get here in Washington DC over WJLA, Channel 7-3 (an over the air digital channel). I don't even remember this show from the 70s, just learning about it now!!
Fans from Hongkong.

The Universal TV logo used on this series: 1975 logo. Season 1 had the 1975-76 jingle, while seasons 2-3 all had the 1976-78 music.

Enjoyed this show very much when it aired in the 70s - much more intelligent show than that t&a thing on about the same time...hmmm...some Angels?
bunnyhuntress 3 years ago
which Bob Wagner was involved in producing - somehow, don't recall the details....

Um... you're thinking of Aaron Spelling's other show, Hart to Hart, of which Wagner starred in the 1980s.

Actually, it's already here, per:

so you can see for yourself how the New York flagship of RKO General cannibalized the "Switch" opening for their own late afternoon movie show.
