@2004svtterminator Maxima is an all around car.... it has enough aftermarket support to be a race car, theres a guy on youtube with a 12 second 95 Maxima naturally aspirated, and theres plenty of supercharged Maximas with over 400 whp. Or you can just leave it stock and its a great grocery getter. The Maxima will suit anyone for whatever your driving needs may be.

5th gen maximas have bin known to hold up to 430whp on stock internals and as a DD at 10psi no bullshit...the stock 5.5 has 255 hp and 246 ft ib..a couple of mods can push it over 300 and a turbo or super charger will get it easy over 400 with the right psi

@zo0yoRk69 Actually, the 99-04 GT has 302tq and they weigh about 100lbs more than a 6spd Maxima. Both having good drivers, the Maxima is slightly quicker than a GT...even the V6 5spd Altima can keep up w/ both.

a 6spd maxima should have no problem keeping up with a new GT. It's unlikely that it will actually beat it, but it stays right there on its tail. 2002-2003 Maximas run low 14s.
the 2002-2003 6spd was faster than the new ones. Factory times (which are slower than actual times) are 14.7 seconds for the 5.5 gen Max... The 2000-2001 runs 15s. 2002-2003 should only run 15s if equipped with an auto trans. Otherwise, there simply is no excuse to run a 15+ time.
where are you getting these numbers? like i said before my mom has the maxima and theres no way it does 14.7s and even with a stick its not going to drop half a second! at very best a maxima with a stick and a really good driver might get a 14.7
yes, the 6 speed does make that much of a difference on the Maximas. The manual transmission Maximas have always been light years faster than the automatics. Look it up. A 4th gen 5 spd can hit high 14s with a good driver.. The 2002-2003 6 spd is much faster. Again, the manual transmission makes a big difference.
6speed manual has much closer gear ratios than the 5 speed auto. That means if you line up one auto and one manual maxima, the manual will accelerate faster in every gear, and yes even shave off a half a sec.

you dont know thunderbirds that well do you? stock a 97 thunderbird 4.6L will only run 15.6s best they suck at anything from a stop. let me spell this out for you; i was hitting 15 flat with tuner, cai and exhaust.. then when i did the pi swap, jmod shift kit, and got it tuned again to make sure the swap works properly i started hitting low 14s. im still fairly new at drag racing so when i get good tires on her and some more runs under my belt ill be hitting 14 flat easy.

The Charger R/T runs about neck and neck with my maxima. Beats me on the 0-60, but once in 3rd gear I start to pull away. The SRT-8 kills me though. And so does the Supercharged 32 valve Cobra. As far as the Evo goes, it beats me. Not by much, but it does. And so does the MazdaSpeed3. That's a fast little bitch there/

my mom has the maxima 3.5. ive raced a 02 GT in it. had some minor mods like exhuast and intake. we raced from a 30mph and a 50mph and he took me everytime no prob.
i have a 96 gt my friend has a slightly newer maxima. same thing happened, i got him at first but he started to catch up. he's got more HP but I got more torque. incase you were wondering...which you probably weren't
the mustang did not walk the maxima... he got the jump, but it's clear to see that the maxima was catching up fairly quickly.. the max was the faster car
yeah even though he jumped it off the line before the light.. but its sad that the max was caughting up just shows that if the mustang didnt get that jump he would have lost

@zo0yoRk69 Actually, the 99-04 GT has 302tq and they weigh about 100lbs more than a 6spd Maxima. Both having good drivers, the Maxima is slightly quicker than a GT...even the V6 5spd Altima can keep up w/ both.

a 6spd maxima should have no problem keeping up with a new GT. It's unlikely that it will actually beat it, but it stays right there on its tail. 2002-2003 Maximas run low 14s.

the 2002-2003 6spd was faster than the new ones. Factory times (which are slower than actual times) are 14.7 seconds for the 5.5 gen Max... The 2000-2001 runs 15s. 2002-2003 should only run 15s if equipped with an auto trans. Otherwise, there simply is no excuse to run a 15+ time.

yes, the 6 speed does make that much of a difference on the Maximas. The manual transmission Maximas have always been light years faster than the automatics. Look it up. A 4th gen 5 spd can hit high 14s with a good driver.. The 2002-2003 6 spd is much faster. Again, the manual transmission makes a big difference.

6speed manual has much closer gear ratios than the 5 speed auto. That means if you line up one auto and one manual maxima, the manual will accelerate faster in every gear, and yes even shave off a half a sec.

Yeah, because they cannot drive..that are LOTS of people running 14.2-14.4 in STOCK 5.5 gen Maxima's. They are all over the Maxima board..as is my 14.01 pass in a STOCK car. Haha..that thing better be heavily modded..what did you trap when you went to the track? I ran with 40 psi in my tires, on Goodyear all-season..(50k mile tires)..so I don't even want to hear about your traction issues..Those tbirds are comparable to a sn95, but heavier and slower..so you better have a motor swap, built motor, or a power adder otherwise you are talking out of your ass. Bottom line..you said you have not run 14 flat..I have, so I am faster..how hard is that you understand?!

you dont know thunderbirds that well do you? stock a 97 thunderbird 4.6L will only run 15.6s best they suck at anything from a stop. let me spell this out for you; i was hitting 15 flat with tuner, cai and exhaust.. then when i did the pi swap, jmod shift kit, and got it tuned again to make sure the swap works properly i started hitting low 14s. im still fairly new at drag racing so when i get good tires on her and some more runs under my belt ill be hitting 14 flat easy.

Damn!!! Maxima's are fast. I have a 2004 tripple black SL with an intake and i have raced many slow ass cars that other people think are fast. And i love my car i beat a 2008 Evolution , mustang's cobra, 2009 GM Sierra 450whp, many chargers and let me tell you them hemi's are not fast at all....300 hemi,......lighting, many many differen types and the maxima is the best, i'll never get another type of vehicle. any one that owns a maxima ....you know what it do!!!!!!!!!!! hahhaha

The Charger R/T runs about neck and neck with my maxima. Beats me on the 0-60, but once in 3rd gear I start to pull away. The SRT-8 kills me though. And so does the Supercharged 32 valve Cobra. As far as the Evo goes, it beats me. Not by much, but it does. And so does the MazdaSpeed3. That's a fast little bitch there/
