Notice when his hands enters the water he pulls right away. THAT IS WRONG. You must glide a little with hands out stretched and then pull. Without the glide recovery the stroke timing will be off. Your hands will feel like they get trapped in the water at the end of the pull.
this guy makes Phillip Toriello look like Bob Bowman when explaining fly, to swim fly your first kick is the big 1, this happens after the underwater body dolphin phase, you kick so that your body comes out of water, chin low on recovery, then just as your hands are about to re enter the water you kick again big or small, and repeat the cycle, This took months of hard workout to master, so be patient and it'' be rewarding as it makes your hips and shoulders strong and flexible
you should also include how your feet kicks on your video while breathing... this is the most problem of the beginners how to do it in perfect timing.... right?
man i just started trying the butterfly stroke, i think i understand it, but i can never get my arms all the way forward and usually dont have enough time to breath. could i be not synching my movements right, or am i just not pushing hard enough?
This video is pretty much rediculous, there should not be a little and a big kick. Both of the kicks should be roughly the same size. and the breath should last almost all the way until your hands enter the water again.
good thing hes cute otherwise this video would suck;)

Your hands should never touch each other as they enter the water. The arms should be just slightly less than shoulder width apart.
