this is neither house nor electro.. this is MINIMAL. hence the crisp minimal beat. the bassline is in the style of electro but the beat is mostly slower and has very short (or minimal) hi hats and snares compared to the the hard hits of electro. your a dj and you dont even know your genres bro. but i agree, electro is def one of the best genres for the club. songs like this are perfect for opening with. i highly recommend it, as it makes the crowd go absolutely wild. :P

(i mean every house/electro/techno is a little repeatitve but this one is not enough to be minimal)

maybe, but I don't classify genres by repetitivness. I classify them from sound and feel.. if a producer uses a certain set of sounds and hits then I classify the genre by that along with the bpm and style/feel he goes with. but then again, I made that comment a year ago when I was more inexperienced. were both right in our own way. this song is just unclassifiable, its one of the best songs by trentemoller.

I personally have been exposed to many genres of electronic music since I was very young because of my older brother. For example, I was listening to Kraftwerk when I was in 5th grade and started listening to Richie Hawtin (Plastikman) in middle school... you were probably around 7 or 8 years old back then.

I listened to all that good stuff back in late 90's to early 00's (I was about 5-13 in this time) because my dad listened to all of it. the quality of productions that came out back then was much better I think. I still find myself blasting songs from '95-'03. it just feels like the producers poured their heart into it and didn't rush out albums with a bunch of fillers and only 2 good songs. but maybe thats just me??

I find a lot of stale and emotionless producton nowadays as well, not to mention the amount of producers who are just hacking others' style and sound just to make a few bucks. I was originally going to write more in my first comment to actually make a point, but ran out of space... the point being that genre isn't really that important anyway. I look for music with feeling, not for particular components or patterns.

I actually have favorites in all electronic genres except hardstyle/harcore. but I have favorites in dnb, dub, breaks, electro, house, trance, progressive, minimal, etc. I suppose everything has something to be appreciated. my absolute favorite is when producers incorporate sounds and styles across subgenres. for example using dubstep sounds in tech trance. brings something new to the table. however, there are still a few artists out there who are still workin it!!

And I am actually very excited about this decade were going into right now becuase I feel like there will be more cross-genre production than ever before. Right now I am hearing a lot of what I call "post-dubstep", which is where it isn't exactly dubstep, but it isn't really anything else. Artists like Mount Kimbie, James Blake, Appleblim, Falty DL, Joy Orbison... and even more techno oriented stuff from artists like Actress, Floating Points, etc

The Artificial Intelligence series from Warp records, the early Basic Channel catalogue, Underground Resistance, so much good detroit techno and acid house... even trance was good in the early nineties...
