Guys, we are a young country. It's not that we don't value our history, it's that we don't have much of it. That's why we learn more about American history, because their history is what lead up to the creation of the true north strong and free. So we should be more canadian and make our own history!

i dont' know what school you went to, but i have learned about the prime ministers, and how we are connected to great britain so we do learn things, we just aren't very interesting sometimes, and we don't talk about stuff that happened 100 or more years ago :P
kay see, it depends on how you were taught and if the teachers cared for history. so canadians do care about their history, they just might not have the resources and teachers with enough love for history to be taught.
Two or three days ago I was reading the Toronto Sun and the part where it says about what happened on this date (it's by the crossword puzzles) it didn't say anything about what happened in Crapanda, it was all America. So either Crapada was on holiday that day or nothing interesting happened that day or maybe the staff doing the paper didn't bother looking up what happened. Or maybe they think our history is boring and full of LIES.
i think someone should do something about this, it's our education..and knowing about our past helps us with our future..and right now, people my age, our future doesn't look too good..with global warming and stuff, so we need to do as much as we can, adn learn as much as we can, so we can make it better.

I, as a US Citizen am not prohibited from travelling to Russia, Cuba--in Fact, I have been to both. Freedoms are not defined by which countries one can visit; Canada is not perfect. And, there are truly more freedoms in Canada in some aspects; in others USA--Both of our nations are very decent, and free nations, who promote freedom throughout the world. No need to bash anyone.

It is unfortunate that there has been a conditioning of "ill-will" towards the ONE country that put forth the most efforts during WW2 to free Europe from Nazi Germany; and after the war, it was USA who flew thousands of flights, providing thousands of tons of wheat, oil, coal etc. to a country that just a year or so prior was her enemy; and those that turned on USA was her friend(USSR).

It's easy to spot the product of a small mind by the # of profanities it uses to convey it's narrow minded point in a threatening manner. The piece was satire. The object was to get parents to look inward rather than "blaming Canada" or the television, or music or the 100 other things that might be out there influencing their children.
