Luckily, I have a wonderful indie bookstore in the city I live. I love it soooooo much. It is one of those stores you can go sit in and spend an entire day in leaving only briefly to go to the target next door for the bathroom and cafe thing. I love it!
Well said! It's also nice to be able to walk away with a book straight away, rather than having to wait weeks for it to arrive (if you happen to live in a non-Amazoned country like I do).
Isn't it kind of funny that Amazon secretly got rid of peoples' copy of 1984? I mean, that just SCREAMS minitruth! All they have to do now is say that the book never existed.
I agree with indie bookstores, but the saddest thing is that the closest one to my house is like 30-45 minutes away while Barnes & Noble is like 5 minutes away and Amazon is a click away. That's the problem.
No one should be able to influence who we are allowed to read. Whether it is a giant corporation like Amazon or a tiny independent bookstore. There are a TON of indy bookstores that hide or refuse to carry books with questionable content. Deciding who you buy from shouldn't be a blanket "support the independent, fuck corporations" choice, it should be a personal judgment.
Also Indie Book stores tend to be more interesting and occasionally have cats. .... That shouldn't be a motivator for where I shop but it totally is. Kitties!
Great video. I completely agree. I try to buy all the books I can at indie bookstores, even if it means spending a little more or waiting a little longer than I would have to with Amazon.
I bought As You Wish at Borders.
Going to an indie bookstore is on my bucket list now, btw. (:

I bought AS YOU WISH from Barnes and Noble two days ago. It still carries it.
