Based on the age of what they have found I believe this to be the sister city to the real Atlantis. Why? I think one thing people need to remember is that the Earth is so old, and its geography has changed so much, that there isn't just ONE sunken city. @Waredwr just for your information, Gilgamesh is not a copy of the Bible. It did have a great flood but it hardly relates to the Bible at all. I read my Bible all the time, so I know. And as for stolen, it would have been other way around, the author of Gilgamesh stole from the Bible to write his story. By the way Noah took his wife, his sons, and their wives on the ark with him, everyone on this earth now is a descendant of Noah.

There are two, the most commonly referred to are the straights of Gibraltar. If he was talking about those 'pillars' then Atlantis must be outside the Med.

Based on the age of what they have found I believe this to be the sister city to the real Atlantis. Why? Because Atlantis was an island nation located outside the Straights of Gibralter not connected to any mainland and if you look at google earth you will see clearly that much of the Mid Atlantic Ridge would have been above water 12000 years ago.

There are also other tablemounts in the area with a strange sedimentation patterns on the west side but not the east. The sediment is not of oceanic origin it was created on dry land. I think one thing people need to remember is that the Earth is so old, and its geography has changed so much, that there isn't just ONE sunken city. There are hundreds, probably thousands, of cities that got wiped out and sunk beneath the sea - and every time someone finds one, it just HAS to be Atlantis, right?!
I do hope they find the actual Atlantis someday. I believe it exists, but maybe it's not the most important sunken city there is.

Seems like these researchers have found something under the Mudflats in southern Spain! A huge Methane Gas bubble is under the mud where they're looking, which shows that Organic material is breaking down, Only Methane is found there, not the surrounding area. @Alienpimp33 Don't know what you were responding to; but, who told you the Bible is "one book"? As a student of comparative religion for nearly a quarter century, that's an absurd statement to see made repeatedly as if people know what they're saying. The bible is a 66 book anthology written by 40 authors over thousands of years. It has multiple independantly corraborated accounts of history, etc which if it weren't religious in nature would be considered validations. Bias?
