Hey if you got that problem take it to VZW and they will replace it for free, it was a problem RIM had before they shipped it out and its a hardware issue and they'll give you a brand new phone everything, which is an advantage.

point is, the curve 8530 is horrible, compared to this, tour is faster, better resolution, better camera with flash.., better keyboard, more memory.., how do u make a bb with a horrible cam with no flash.., wi-fi is over-rated u have 3g service why would u care about wi-fi? and the only issue id see is the trackpad/trackball it jus depends on what u like, ppl dont know how to take care of phones, dropping em 10 times and smashin the trackball or pad its not gunna last.

@pothead4632y the ball does not light up however there is a facebook app no youtube app but just use the browser it works fine. the light in the corner continues to blink until you check unread messages that includes notifications calls texts ect

well its just a red led light that blinks on and off about every 2 seconds not really much you can sutumize with it. still very handy if you missed a notification or something

u can download any apps, from blackberry world, some r free, some u pay, but all blackberrys come with facebook n myspace now, some with twitter also, if not just dl em for free

u roll the trackball too hard. u need to do it very lightly and it works perfectly. if u do it hard it doesnt work!!!!!!!!

i suppose everyone just needs to buy a phone suited to their needs. if you are going to rely on your phone for wifi at work or home then maybe the tour isnt for you but for others without the same concerns its a great choice.

if you have a family of 5 you wouldnt buy a 2 bedroom home then say the house isnt that great because it only has 2 rooms and doesnt fit your needs

Depends if you want a qwerty keyboard or touchscreen. If you want a qwerty, get the Tour. But if you're set on getting the Storm, I suggest holding off until the fall. The Storm 2 should be released in Oct/Nov. The original Storm had so many bugs and required so many OS upgrades... RIM will probably stop releasing upgrades for Storm 1 after Storm 2 comes out, so you're better off holding out for the newer phone.

It comes with Docs to Go, which does support Word documents, as well as Excel sheets and PowerPoint. You'll need to upgrade to Premium Docs to Go for the full set of features; initially, only viewing and basic editing are included. Should be about $60 USD, less if your register first.

Yea you can get this phone for the basics, but you're really missing out. Bunch of my friends did the same thing as you and after about a month they had the urge to use all the features (internet, email, blackberry messenger, gps, etc.) If you buy this phone you will get your moneys worth more if you attach a data plan (it sells for about $230 CDN on a 3 yr plan)

I have setup 4 Tour's in the last two weeks and ALL of them have the left to right scroll issue. Have adjusted the sensitivity and a little better but I imagine they'll be coming out with a handheld software upgrade soon that will correct that and other issues. I have Storm and Verizon's latest operating system fixed almost, if not, everything wrong with it.

I work for verizon and have played with the tour FREQUENTLY (I plan on getting one in the next week or so) and have had no trouble with the track ball if i just swipe it judiciously. Just move it in a chilled out fashion. Hes swipin it like hes coked out of his mind!

The browsing seems quite similar to me, and I find it to be decent. I do take issue with the spartan black on white look of the device, though. It's gotten a bit better with recent OS revisions, but not much better. No idea on an EU release.

Verizons network is just as fast as att and sprint so you need to get that in the clear.

Take a look at your signal strength. With verizons 4g net next year nothing can touch it. and you don't need wifi. the speed would be just as fast

As far as the trackball is concerned, trackball sensitivity can be changed to your liking. The setting "80" works great on my Curve. The lower it's set, the more rolls it'll take to do what you want.

It happens to me when I am using a bunch of applications at once or i keep them running and forget to close them. Sensitivity has nothing to do with this issue. It just happens :)

It is probably your specific model. A user posted on one of Phonedog's video saying he works with Blackberry Hardware and the biggest Hardware fails on the Blackberry is the trackball, so it is possible for your trackball to be having issues and failing. However, I am not entirely sure since I currently do not own a Blackberry Tour even though I would love to have one.

Looks like it is a PIN message, actually. Not sure if you can change the default behavior, as PIN messages wouldn't be of much use. In any case, you can always use the menu.
