I almost bawled when Elk sacrificed himself when I played through. Mia was enough D; This game series is probably the only one to have made me cry then, and still do today.
He was probably referring to the fact that Aura being born meant that it was the beginning of what Harold originally intended, and the true beginning of "The World" itself. What you play through in the original four games is kind of like a Beta, seeing as how Aura isn't really born yet, which was why "The World" existed at all. Kite would've had no reason to think there would be an R:2, although the creators may have doubled the meaning knowing they were making more content.
Most of them do, but that wasn't my point. The ending of the original four games marks, about, 1/3 into the entire .hack story, which spans across many games, Anime's, and Manga's.
The major entries into the .hack// series go as follows:
AI Buster > SIGN > IMOQ (original four games) > Legend of the Twilight > ROOTS > GU > LINK
There are other entries as well, but none that add extreme amounts to the overall plot as far as I know.
I dont get with the baby crying. does that mean that something is being born? And ive played these 4 and all 3 of gu...but i still kinda dont understand...was AIDA just a bad virus in the world? did it start in the .hack//INFECTION? if not how did it come seven years later? can someone answer those questions for me...kindly. i need answers...
In the .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet manga, which takes place about 3 or 4 years after .hack//Quarantine, there is a young AI named Zefie who is Aura's daughter. So I think that she may be the baby that was crying at the end.
As for AIDA, I believe that it may have some connection with Morganna. Morganna was the program that controlled "the World" before Aura was born. Morganna was supposed to "die" when Aura was born, so that Aura could take control. However, even though Morganna was a program, it did not want to die. As a result, Morganna tried to prevent Aura's birth and created the "Cursed Wave". I don't know if Morganna was ever killed, but, if it wasn't, then it may have created AIDA to attack Aura.
Oooh! Is that why AIDA was going after the Epitaph Users? Because it somehow thought they were connected to Aura? Then thats when Aura made the Azure Knights to protect "the World" from it! Oooooh ok! Thanks. It makes more sense now! =D
Have you watched any of the .hack//G.U. Terminal disk files? They were part of a limited edition release of .hack//G.U. Vol.1. They answer a lot of questions that I've had, such as how the Epitaph Users were created. I've found 12 so far on Youtube.

The crying was symbolism of something being born/reborn. This game was the first "Rebirth". See the epitaph of twilight for more details about "Rebirth".

In GU its not the real Kite. Aura took the remnants of his character data and put them together to make an incomplete AI. She did that to Balmung and Orca, too.
When kite killed Aura, she became positive energy and fused with morggana (corbenik, which is the reason why corbenik looks like a bunch of eyes since morggana fused with the 8th phase) and became the perfect AI

i have played G.U. it's awesome ... all the .hack games go together so well... it's has an awesome story line... They say that Aura was lost during the final .hack game but in G.U. they talk about a girl in white in the forums so... Aura was reborn... thus is born .hack//G.U. rebirth!
Thnaks for the videos dude. I beat .Hack//Infection, and Mutation, but never got Outbreak and Quarantine..and just recently i heard about G.U. and wanted to play it bad, so your videos helped me out...
