Even though I'm Mexican, there weren't many shows that featured Mexican fams (Bros. Garcia and Miranda from Lizzie ok) or diversity for that matter, I really liked watching these black shows!! I remember watching shows like Moesha, Sister Sister, Smart Guy, Kenan and Kel, The Parkers, Family Matters, The Proud Family, That's So Raven, and BET and I really liked them!! I really liked watching them b/c even as a kid I got tired of watching the usual white family shows!! What a smart kid I was lol!
@yahirwao interesting Moesha was popular in Mexico. haha i actually tried the braids once --but it was just not cool on me lol so i just never did that again!!
@eclectica1 There was just so much that kept us guessing after it had gotten cancelled. I know they can't do it now because of Hakeem's death. But people do still live on tens years later. We could have seen if Moesha and Hakeem had gotten married with a kid or something. I know they can't pick up from 2001 obviously. It just my thoughts on it and I don't appreciate the smart ass comment.
Ray J should have been featured on this show!!!! On second thought, maybe not. Even with his limited amount of fame, he infected half the world's female population with VD.
@bclyde17 Funny, but I agree and if you think about it, Brandy made Kim Kardashian what she is today. Ray J was just Brandy's little brother. If Ray J was just some nigga off the streets nobody would have given a Damn about that whole sex tape thing. He is very ugly and triflin, and remember back in the day how their mother Gloria thought that they were all high and mighty. Now look at that pathetic family.
why do al the black sitcoms now adays have corny jokes lame writers and is soo sterotypical ie anything by tyler perry i remeber when all the black sitcoms had carictors about real familes dad was strict mom was sweet but backed up the dad to the fullest and told him when he was wrong the kids were like regular kids they went out had fun but they had morals and knew when to stop and go home the friends had eachothers back the lil brother or sister was anoying but funny what happend

@TheSexigurl100 can't Miles is too big. Hakeem died. etc etc :\ so much that stops it. They did have a plan to finish the show properly and what not or at least finish with a tv movie or so, but never got to...
they really need to get rid of all these "reality shows" and bring back the good shows like Moesha,Cousin Skeeter,All That,Degrassi(the one with Drake not the new one) and etc!!

Dude, I think that, besides The Proud Family and Everybody Hates Chris, this was the last time we had more than one token black character in a mainstream TV show. And all those shows are cancelled now. I'm white as can be, but I find something sinister about that.
@Yuffie3982 Being Black does have something to do with it. I'm not trying to bash my own race but I'm sorry compared to other tv shows this introlooks like they didnt want to spend much money to film it. Its in poor quality I know the 90's wasnt advanced as todays but it looks as it was filmed on a camcorder and the clothes they are wearing looks like they came out of aretha franklins closet.
@MALIKITIKI2 This show represented young, black youth in the 90's. You may think the theme is ghetto but the show wasn't. Moe's father was strict, stern, and in her life. She went to college and had morals. Everybody is different in this world, just because it doesn't come on bland, perpetrating white washed sitcoms, doesn't mean it lacks substance. Black represents black, not ghetto.
@KeesusChrist True, very true.... Are there any more good sitcoms like the 90's left?? I don't have cable and certainly don't watch tv anymore... Everything is either redbox/netlix, any suggestions...
@KeesusChrist awesome statement I could not have said that any better myself (I am Black Britsh 21) I used to watch this show back in the days was funny had humour but was still real great show (Hakeem was a joker! LOL)

@dsim200000 It's a spinoff because The Parkers focuses on Moesha's friend Kim and her mother Nikki Parker. Therefore it's a spinoff.. plus some Moesha characters made appearances on some episodes as well..
damn the 90s had some really good shows!!!!

The reason I think they will never bring back Moesha is because
1. Lamony Bentley (Hakim) died, and he was an integral part of the show and
2. Keep in mind, the show got to be soap opera-like when "Dorian" turned out to be Moesha's brother... I know that's when I stopped watching.

@Jeffrizel1986 it WAS??? nikki is a single mom livin with kim and they go to college. How is THAT a spinoff??
dsim200000 2 years ago
@dsim200000 It's a spinoff because The Parkers focuses on Moesha's friend Kim and her mother Nikki Parker. Therefore it's a spinoff.. plus some Moesha characters made appearances on some episodes as well..

kim was moesha best friend. the show was about kim AND nikki even tho nikki got most of the shine. :)
