After typing with mechanicals, I cannot even look at my Apple wireless keyboard (tenkeyless). Just awful. "Gummy" is the perfect word for the typing experience. I'm convinced that these types of keyboards are popular because the masses just don't know any better.

@shrumpkin pretty much. Have you ever seen people not buying a keyboard because it is not "soft touch" (gummy garbage)? it is very common.

I think this keyboard is really popular with the kind of people that buy a keyboard because it is "soft touch." I don't mind it, but I think the IBM model M that I am typing on right now is SO much better. Also, it might be popular because it is what ships with the computer-I have noticed that most people get accustomed to whatever comes with their computer and say they really like it. I don't think it is that bad though...
