  • That was beautiful! !!! just wondering what high note was that around 2:17?

  • i love this song. every time i get chillbumps

  • A gorgeous rendition of an important poem by the fantastic Sara Teasdale. Thank you for sharing this online! Loved it.

  • :(( i was supposed to be in this choir this year but im moving to ireland. my luck :(

  • great. but the only problem is that the sopranos were slightly sharp g. but other than that it sounds great

  • Good Job on the piece especially for being a high school choir. Watch your vowels and be aware of oversiging especially in soprano section.

  • i sang this in my highschool chamber choir last year and it was beautiful <3 it's my all time favourite choir piece from my whole highschool repetoire !!

  • Great video, guys! Be careful not to spread a and e vowels too much :) great performance, though, especially for a high school choir!!!

  • omg is this a highschool? fantastic! wooooot

  • god i wish there was a recording of Susquehanna University performing this piece this year on youtube! they were TO DIE FOR! back when i was so in to this song i used to listen to you guys allll the time!

  • This is just a wonderful piece of music. so much passion and beauty behind the music itself and the words as well. Randall Stroope is a brilliant man, i sang in the 2009 All-Northwest choir directed by him and we performed this. He was so passionate about his music. i will always remember the focus and feeling he had while directing us. It is an honor to perform his works, and it should not be taken for granted. You guys did a fine job with this thanks for posting :)

  • A beautiful piece, but watch the vowels. I find that to be the worst kind of error to make in this piece. Other wise it was wonderfully done. It's one of my favorites by Stroop.

  • I heard some screaming... still a whole lot better than my choir :P

  • this is probably my favorite song that my choir sang

    so beautiful

  • this is intoxicating

  • A sang this at Arkansas's All-State only it was the female arrangement. But Randall Stroope is so amazing.

He has the most miraculous works.

  • wow :] this is so wierd!

I sang a womens arrengement of this in regionals for CJMEA a little while ago, and I needed to look it up because I'm doing a poetry project on it. And then I realized that this arrangement was by Randal Stroop.

I was just in nationals for ACDA in Oklahoma City and our commissioned piece was by him, and I just met him a few days ago. It was awesome performing a national debut of one of his pieces. Also he signed my music for me :]

    Weird coincidence!

    BTW: Well done :]

  • We just sight-read this today in concert choir for our district choral festival. Such a pretty song. Good work!

  • i just sang this song yesterday in a district chorus concert with a women's group and this arrangement is simply beautiful. thank you for posting =]

  • i am in a concert choir in high school and this is one of the songs we are singin for contest and sound a little bit better with adding the dynamics but you guys and gals did very good.

  • Comment removed

  • No doubt this was awsomely done except like i have say over and over you need to work on the dynamics more it just makes the piece a little more exciting in the beginin you have a pianissimo and it bulds to forte at "lost as a snow flake". but it was great.

  • its probably just the angle at which you shot it, but couldn't hear the guys as well as i wanted to. I've sang this tenor, and at sometimes i couldn't even pick out my own part

  • but overall very good!!!!

  • simply moving

  • Koodos. amazing . . . chills like crazy. I wish my choir could sound like this; too bad we only have five tenors! Good job.

  • beautiful, i hope we can sing it half as good as this!

  • You did a very fine job with this piece. This arangement is mostly done by college choirs! You all are very talented young men and women! keep up the good work!

  • i am such an IYC creeper...

and this is by far my favorite recording of you guys.

    please continue being amazing. :)

  • very good, but the tenor could be strong at the note at the word "sea" where they make the jump up. when that jump is really strong, it makes the piece amazing

  • i LOOOOVE THIS SONG. and you guys sing it so well <3 KOODOS :) i could only hope that the guys in my chamber choir will be just as good as the guys here :)

  • ummm how old is the "youth" in this choir. because this is very well sang. i just found this song and this version is so amazing.

  • This choir is made of 80 students from about 30 different high schools around Indianapolis. Everyone is in 10th-12th grade. This group gets together for 2 hours almost every Sunday during the school year.

  • wow, that's insane. i would love to do something like that, but anyways, thanks, cause this song was good and very well done.

  • amazing. your sopranos are amazing -- the tenors beautiful. you all kept me full of goosebumps from start to end. well done :)

  • amazing i am a tenor for my choir been there for 4 years, im in the chamber choir where the talent is and i would love toi singf for this choir amazing

  • ii liked soooooo beautiful!!!!!!!! :)

  • The sopranos are kickbutt! The entire choir is great!

  • i love this song. it's soo beautiful and very sad. the lyrics are so powerful, like just when you think at times she's maybe re-considering, she still keeps saying IM am not yours.

  • I love this song. It's amazing! Our All-County Choir is singing it this year...It's really beautiful!!

  • I actually really do want to complilment you guys this is incredible!!! And not a terribly easy song either!!

  • There's something magical and terrifying about this song. It brings me to tears. But it is so beautiful...

  • indiana represent!

  • and actually GOOD SOUND TENORS 1!!!!!!!!

  • WOOW THAT'S IS AMAZING! I liked, and also forget about the negatives comentaries BECAUSE THIS WAS AWESOME!!!! :)

  • Chills. Chills when I hear this song. It's probably my favourite from my choir days

  • OMG like, we're singing this in chamber choir at my school. I love singing it. I can't wait to sing it in a concert. =D Personally, I'm a 1st soprano. Lol it's fun hitting those really high notes

  • I love singing with these guys. Bass! :DDD

  • this is beautiful.

    ignore the douche bags.

  • I just don't understand why some people comment every song and act like they are blessing us with their "expert" critiques. It's kinda ridiculous guys. You are not as smart or talented as you think you are, because if you were, you would show more class and compassion for those performing because I doubt people posted in order to get great critiques. You've missed the point of sharing music with people. No performance or choir is perfect whether you think the one you sang with is. Sorry...

  • they sounded great at hear our song

  • Forget what everyone had 2 say negative... This was awesome.... We song this for the Mississippi Honor College and I fell in love with it... Keep up the good work!!!!!

  • a bit bright and choppy notes but really one of the better versions of this song i have seen.

  • I did this song this year in my school chamber choir. It took me forever to talk my director into doing it because he thought the close harmony would be hard for the choir but he loved it so we did it. I'm a baritone and that F# at 1:58. love when the baritones are higher than the tenors

  • Beautiful! You guys did a great job!

  • I didn't know Stroope also had a song to this poem!

My choir sang the version by David Childs, and while I love Stroope, I think Childs version is better and far more emotional.

  • i love this

  • WHERE'S YOUR K'S....snowflaaaaeee in the sea

my high school select mixed choir sang it as one of our 3 songs that we sang in chicago for our spring trip...and all our choirs got gold

  • we're doing this piece on our tour in Beijing next week i really loved your performance! very moving as that is our goal to achieve!

  • Funny- my choir will be performing this piece among others for the Olympic Cultural Festival in Beijing in a few weeks.

I hope your tour went well.

  • Watch vowels, and sopranos need to open their throats more to hit those high notes,

    but moving, really.

  • Woah... This is better than our school's going to be! I HOPE we are this good. I could hear all the parts and they blended SO perfectly.

i think this has made me so in love with music again!! heehee

  • LOVE THIS

  • i wish this song was on i tunes

  • Beautiful performance. Best one I've seen on YouTube so far. =]

  • excellent blending~!

  • practice vowels the a's should be more ah.

    good though

  • as far as the "issues" that were commented on-this was our first time performing this piece and we know we werent completely ready. it was more of a practice/preview for a parents getting ready for our performance at the ACDA division convention in Grand Rapids, MI. and as far as the lack of bass/tenor we were missing people that night and i think we were all a little unsure of notes and such because we had just learned it. I just watched our video from convention and it was much better.

  • Beautiful. Simply incredible. I am singing this song with my high school's select ensemble (best of the best), and I LOVE IT!! My favorite piece ever written. The first I heard it, I cried my eyes out! Miraculous!!

  • Beautifully preformed!

  • YAY IYC!!! I love singing this song soo much. I'm gonna cry Sunday when we sing it! P.S. GO ALTO 1's!!

  • My only criticism could be your words...I yam is not a word. Put a paper thin space between the two words. Other than that...Well, we could always use more bass and tenor...Fantastic job though.

  • Wow, amazing job!

  • This is oustanding. I mean wow. I have seen many choirs do this song and all i can say is wow. Especially for youth. what r you alls ages?

  • we are mostly highschoolers grade 10-12 [so ages 15-19] but we have a few phenomenal 8th and 9th grade guys =]

  • i love it!.. my high school chamber choir just sang it yesterday at our festival...and were going to states with it...

i have a question. how many people are in your choir...cuz half of the people are cut out of the video;...

its very interesting to hear the difference dinamics between a large choir like yours and a smaller one like mine....

anyways, gorgeous job! check out the recording on my account..please mind the crappyness of the recording...

    toodles ^-^

  • we have about 80 singers in our choir. I would love to hear this with a smaller group, it's probably beautiful. Thanks, I will definately check out your channel!

  • @CATHCG my high school choir will be doing it in 2 weeks with about 35. i will post it for you. just look for Squalicum high school.

  • I did this with my high school choir at competition last friday, for which we got a perfect rating and a standing ovation for. Such a beatiful and powerful song.

  • Overbrooks Overtones is singing this for Spring Concert...were prolly gonna own..were better haha. sounds amazing

  • Oh my gosh! we're singing this for the spring concert in Concert Choir @ my school, and we were practicing it this morning, and the pianist asked us what a Taper was, and i was the only one who knew. :-p. and its SOO beautiful together. except on "swept up by the tempest" bit, sopranos tend to shreik. lol. it sounds horrible. but we're working on it. and its gonna be BANGIN by may. :-D

  • Amazing! My school's choir is singing this in our spring concert this year, so we're working on it now. Hopefully we can perform it as beautifully as you guys did. It sounded gorgeous... I got goosebumps. Very nice.

  • omg this is amazing....i love it...even my dog is sitting still and watching it....

  • Very nice Choir here in Puerto Rico, we did that song in the Choir of the University of Puerto Rico!!!

  • The Mars Hill All State choir I sang in this February sang this. In rehearsal, I remember looking straight infront of my at the line across the auditorium. At least 4 of the girls had stopped singing they were crying so hard. Its a beautiful song.

  • We sang this in madrigals for festival this year, and we got a perfect score! So the school District retired the song so it can never be sang again at festival.

    :)

Most amazing song of my life. We were all crying! It's AMAZING!

  • Scotia Glenville Choralaires own all!!!!!!!!!!

  • i won't lie...this song just about makes me cry.

  • That comment was directed to jojomusicloveo09.

    I forgot to specify.

And SkeltorOwnsYou, please disregard the last part of jojomusicloveo09's comment.

Our choir definetely has better manners than him.

He's not dumb. His ego is just a bit inflated.

Our choir's standards are quite high and we perfomed this song recently.

This song was very emotional to the entire choir.

IYC sings it beautifully but, there is absence of dynamics.

The basses need to be heard a bit more.

  • Good to know. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a bitch. It just bothers me when people speak incoherently. :)

  • This is a beautiful version of a beautiful song - my only real critique would be the absence of dynamics. This song is really all about the dynamics, but your notes are beautiful, and I'm very impressed with the soprano part in particular. The tenors could have been stronger (I am one, haha) but overall, fantastic job.

  • by the way, to jojomusiclove09, I find it hard to believe that your choir is "betta den dis one." Hopefully your choir's overall intelligence is higher than yours.

  • i love singing alto on this! :)

  • ok. uhhh u guys r really good.

but ima need sum dynamics in da song.

yuh feel me. lol. n da basses. i mean

u guys 2 sing louder. so yea. but u guys r good but not betta den our choir.

    EVERGLADES LEGACY CHOIR. ahahha bitch.

    * str8 face *

  • Hey. It's Squirrel.

    Duuude. Check your spelling.

    And stop bragging!

I love you, but that comment was ridiculous.

    <3

  • you guys were qood but... everqlades leqacyyy choir in miami florida is wayyy better... && we actually did dynamics && had the emotion when we sanq... but good tryyy... but not better than ME!!!!

  • who arranged this piece? it's beautiful!!!

  • Z. Randall Stroope

  • sang this at mars hill '08.

most beautiful song i think i've ever heard. CRIED!....incredible.

  • I sang this at Mars Hill this year too

  • heyy i was in mars hill too!!! i def cried during this song

  • Easily one of the most beautiful and fun songs to sing. My high school choir did this at a huge concert with like 6 other area high school choirs and we definately owned with this one.

  • I just sang this as part of my All Regional Choir in AZ.

Absolutely, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and THE most beautiful song I've ever performed.

  • we sang this at mars hill... i cried. it is a very beautiful song.

  • My Community College just sang this yesterday at our spring concert. I love this song, your second sopranos could be a little stronger, but kudos to the altos, those notes are hard. Great Job

  • my choir did this song back in the fall. it was my favorite. i think its absolutely beautiful and yall did a really nice job!

  • were singing this and elijah rock too! haha. small world. were also doing ubi caritas and MLK by U2.

  • Elijah Rock is an awesome song. I sang it in Carnegie Hall when I was in High School with my Show Coir.

  • my choir is singing this as one of are song for are spring competition this year...its so beautiful :)

  • so are we. and it so well sums up my feelings for a girl i know.

but yeah, it's really beautiful. we're also singing crucifixus by lotti, elijah rock, there will be rest, and another one i can't remember...

  • i love this song, our choir is singing it currently. the recording doesn't do it justice but otherwise good

  • great song we are singing in my choir is pretttyy

  • oh, wow dif version from us- but you guys sound great!

  • i cannot wait to perform this piece in the spring. i know that that the score says forte but damn soprano one's stop screaming....it might also be the recording. very nice regardless. more bass and beritone though

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

Thanks for posting this. Great job. :]

  • So lovely... as an alto I must commend the alto's for cleanly hitting that low F#! VERY nice.

  • we're doing this song too. i fell in love with it. it's so beautiful i love her poetry

  • Amazing choir....

My choir is singing this soon. I hope it will sound very good, however our tenor section is lacking support right now.

  • I'm missing the bass and baritone sections in this gorgeous piece. The camera probably wasn't positioned in a place to pick them up, but I am missing them. Well done though. Congrats to you guys.

  • this is such a beautiful peice!

you guys sang this really well!

  • No bass :(...they are really supposed to round out this piece.
