  • Predecessor to the 76 model my Grandmother had With the Generation 1 Dual Action and the Triple Dispenser unit. These old Lady K's were the best machines Whirlpool ever made in my opinion.

  • that's pretty good-my parents had an avocado green Kenmore refrigerator up until the early to mid 90's-they finally got rid of it just to get a new refrigerator-it still worked-it made the crescent ice cubes

  • What is the yellow thing on top of the agitator?

  • This is the label plate for the agitator. It says LO . . HI. The bottom of the agitator has adjustible paddles and four positions indicated by the dots between and including LO and HI. Under the plate is the main screw if you ever need to take the agitator off or remove the inner metal basket drum. Gotta love these old Kenmores...not made like this anymore!

  • I miss the wooooo-click-kalunk woo-woo-woo-woo of the agitaton period. I would love to gey my hands on a beltdrive Whirlpool Imperial Mark 18 or a Lady Kenmore. They were great machines! They had only one major drawback, a week spin speed. 500-550rpms.

  • Ahh, yes. Lady Kenmore was top of the line.

  • The noise looks like a bad water pump pulley. Try to replace the water pump.

  • lol you're right, as of now, this machine is sitting out of service with the pump removed... just waiting till i can afford to order a new one

  • Have you heard of them doing this? She never got that fixed and we never knew the cause of it. It made that noise for years but never seemed to effect anything. I've always been curious to what the cause was, if you know, please let me know. Also, how does the veri flex agitator work, I never got that either. Thanks!

  • You pull up on the center post of the agitator and rotate it, this extends or retracts the fins at the base of the agitator. Fully extended for regular loads and fully retracted for delicate loads

  • Ah ok. That makes sense. I don't think I ever saw her change that. Thanks again for the info.

  • Oh wow! My grandmother had a 71 Lady Kenmore with all the push buttons and the flip open control panel with the fluorescent light. It doed on her in the mid 90's but she still has the dryer! Where did you find this washer or did you always have it? I'd like to find one myself. Also, something that would happen with her's is the last 5 mins or so before the first spin, it would buzz really loud, she never got that fixed and we never knew the cause of it.

  • I found this washer at an estate sale in Minneapolis just this past weekend. I have no idea what the buzzing was about, don't know if it was mechanicall related or just a malfunctioning out of balance buzzer

  • Right on, that's a good find right there. The out of balance buzz wasn't as loud as this would get before the spin cycle, that I remember, unless the malfunction amplified it. Ah well, she's in washer heaven now, unless someone found her and restored her. Thanks for the info though, i do appreciate that.

  • Such a beautiful, quiet machine and an AWESOME find, I'm envious :)

  • thx

  • Niiicceee. Must have the quiet pak belt installed.

  • sure does

  • I can't wait to get my 800 going. It doesn't have the quiet pak so it has that "Whooo" sound to it. It's a slow process. Life gets in the way.

  • The Vari-Flex agitator has some damn good roll over which really surprised me! What a nice machine! These pushbutton Kenmores are popping up everywhere it seems.
