I know I'm going to get hate for this, but I really feel like this song was a tiny bit of a wasted opportunity. It's got a great riff that could have been utilized to a much fuller potential. And although this is one of the greatest drum solos ever, it still takes up 3/4 of the song. I don't like any kind of solo to be that long. I'm not saying Led Zeppelin is wrong or anything - this is their vision for the song, and it's great, but I'm also a bit disappointed. I'd just like some balance.
@greyforge27 Yeah I kind of hate drum solos too, but it makes the main riff sound even more awesome when it suddenly comes in at the end of it, don't you think?
This was the first record I ever bought...and it is still the only one I am in absolute love with!! Thanks for putting all these up. Nothing but happy memories!!
May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this fine instrumental.
What an amazingly natural drummer Bonzo was. You get the impression that he could have gone on like this for hours and hours and never missed a single beat. The groove was just in him, man!
I LOVE THIS SONG!.....................want to know some bad s h i t that went down during their '72 tour of australia that they dare not print anywhere.................go to "peter blakeley crying in the chapel emimusic" and press "see all" to find my 3 hidden comments. regards.
@DimebagJim420 easy typing...surfing the net...pissing around with your mobile phone...making pointless comments..not appreciating what music was like back in the golden age. Back then little man..you woulda been a lost pissy pants boy. Jesus..music is what it has developed into NOW cos of bands like this and it ''easy drumming''. Go lay your arrogant comments in your diary and sleep well, cos its the only place your comments will mean anything to anyone around here on a ZEP page.
@TheBaafarang You have to be the stupidest guy i have ever met. I was being ironic. This is insane drumming, a true masterpiece. It's a golden page in the history of music. And even if i did mean it, take it easy. This is a comment section, where people can write what they think of the song/video. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. You can't expect people to solely listen to the music that YOU like.
@TheBaafarang There has always been this issue. People think that the music 20-50 years older is the only true music, and people who just happen to like the new music. Even in the 60's and 70's. Not everyone liked the mainstream music back then, there were still people, thinking that "Them youngin's are some goddamn dirty hippies, who need to learn som goddamn discipline!". There has been, and will always be that issue. Not everyone can get along, it's impossible.
@TheBaafarang But you should be proud of your taste in music, no matter what people say. And don't even BOTHER spending a minute on people who directly HATES your music. Don't give them the satisfaction of seeing you burst into flames of anger. Just listen to the music you like, and don't give a crap about any other genre.
@DimebagJim420 well it is easy mate..but like TheBaafarang said if its not for bands like these music would be pretty boring.....its easy drumming BUT groovy n believe me this is not bonzos best drumming...i have no question bout ur taste in music coz ur username says it all..u have gud taste in music....but dont be a hypocrite...everyone knows who john bonham is..peace
@TheMajor91286 You are legitimately stalking me, aren't you? Well, erm, as flattered as I am, that's a little creepy. Listen, my debating days are over. There's no point in trying to convince you that your ideology is dead if you won't listen to anything that contradicts your silly beliefs. We can speak again when you're ready to drop your pride and open your mind to modern truth. In the meantime, please get a hobby or something. Your constant internet activity concerns me.
@TheAerochick13 who said anything about debating Emma Bayliss?why not just talk about something else like how are are you doing Anthony or something like that.why does it always got to be something about debating? i kind of miss having you around.
@TheMajor91286 Why are you calling me "Bayliss"? That's not my name. I just assumed, seeing as that's all that goes on between me, you, Lucy, and Ana. Debating.
Exactly 30 years to the day on December 4th 1980, the English rock band Led Zeppelin officially disbanded. After the death of drummer John Bonham on September 25th, John Paul Jones, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page felt their friend and fellow band member was irreplaceable. I think 'Moby Dick' is Bonham's signature solo performance, showcasing his amazing drumming skills.
