  • although your version is beautiful, I must say that horowitz adds something to this piece that cannot be matched by any other pianist

  • This is one of my favorite pieces, and I can definitely say that you have put a lot into it and managed to keep the mood of the music alive, even in slower tempo :) Great work and thank you!

P.S. I like how you don't drown everything out with the pedal.

  • Oh, my, god, I could listen to this chap play all day. Genius.

  • Cambry how difficult would you rate this piece and what are the difficulties specifically?

  • Good for you. I enjoyed hearing you play. Hope to hear more of you.

  • ....I find nothing "wrong" with your playing, i enjoy the concentration on your face. Give the Lord the credit for your talent, and He will always take you far. I will be listening to your other recordings. Thank you, Katheryne

  • I agree that his playing is very good, but give the boy some some credit- we can't bring God into every acheivment- God didn't practice piano for thousands of hours to make this peice the way we hear Mr. Cambry play it.

  • And,...as i can see, these commentators have GREAT TALENT for destroying someone's feelings and nullifying their hard work! I APPRECIATE THIS RECORDING, JONATHAN! You and i are studied pianists, so it goes WITHOUT SAYING that each true musician knows what they can and must do to improve themselves, to reach the goal....

  • Is it true that Tay Zonday never had any piano lessons?

  • Melody up there must be independed of other notes, melody isnt good at you. Melody Independend. Sorry for english...

  • To much thinking with your head, use your heart!

  • to improve make every secend bar a contrast one the first little runs half pedal and staccato and do not cadenza to anything more thatn 3 bars enless it says to else you end up getting to loud, plus play it more lightly and bring out the tune at 2:02 and at 2:20 play especialy lightly

    good luck

  • i do not think you play this peice very well at all because i feel it should flow more and be much less powerfull especialy the left hand also you seem to put very little expression in your music i would barely grade this average

  • Who tuned this piano?

    Scott Joplin?

    It it terrible!

  • First of all ..... I am not a such stupid to make your job ridiculus. Iinstead I really appreciated your talent and I am sure that you are here to improve your interpretation, almost close to the best goal. Just think less when u play and fell the heart more. You will find an amazing result :)

  • donnaio65 is right, you have a talent for destroying good music. Congratulations.

  • very nice, pay no heed to the haters. this piece is awesome and i enjoyed your interpretation of it. i hope to someday play this piece.

  • awesome!

this piece has a colossal challenge of technique, and i think im incapable to play this piece with my current skills..

  • very nice, i dont think people on youtube have any right to critise also.. anyone who critisises this sort of playing either has a inferiority complex or is plain ignorant, playing like this requires a masive amount of practise and dedication

  • Very nice! Sensitive playing. It's a tough piece.

  • as tompelicious said good performance if I may be a little bit of a bitch and say your missing the main theme of it not the exact emotion in fingers its how we say the fingers are blinde.. i apologize but its just my opinion

  • so , now you destroyed scriabin aswell , afeter beethoven and chopin . are they pianist the people say likes you ? u good student but nothing else , i m sorry .

  • hahaha you have just destroyed the English language, you might as well write that in whatever language you speak because this is bad

  • i m not english , my language is bad like your way to play

  • Surrrrree it's soooo baddddddd, everyone hates it... I just taught you a word, it's called 'sarcasm'

  • come on man im not a pianist but i think u play great...but instead of making fun of his inablility to speak english u could have given him a comeback on what was wrong with his comment...maybe ask hims what he doesnt like about the vid!!

  • someone with absolutely nothing constructive to say doesn't deserve anything constructive back, if someone views ALL of your videos and tries to trash them, that's past the point of asking them nice questions

  • @donnaio65

Put your videos from u playing chopin, scriabin, beethoven......

and than u can open your mouth. tzzz

people like you are so disgusting. of course u cant compare him to an Rubinstein or a very good pianist. he is still studying.

people like u use youtube to say something. but in reality they often are so small and little sucker :D

  • @donnaio65 You are sorry. Post some videos... Expert.

  • much improved this is a very good recording

  • very erfect

  • Awesome

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • I play piano too! (but I'm only 7, so I'm not quite as good as you) says Sarah

  • Good performance. You should listen to Ulugbek Palvanovs version of this piece. It's interesting and different.

  • Outstanding performance

    awesome

  • amazing

  • That's Good! Thanks for sharing!

  • Gorgeous Playing...Scriabin is your man 5*

  • :_[ was my expression throughout this piece. omg this was excellent

  • This is great!

  • Not to detract from this beautiful performance, but I've never seen a comment from anyone of any... fame on youtube. I'm surprised that you even comment on others' videos.

Very well done, Cambry. I love this peace and you play it excellently.

  • Tay is my YouTube homey

  • Fabulous!

  • passion for the keys, indeed.

  • Hey PianoPlaya! Just wanted to let you know that I use your videos in my classroom to introduce young students to classical music. Most of my students are young African Americans in elementary and most have only been introduced to Hip-hop (radio hip-hop) and they really appreciated seeing a young African American male play classical music. We love playing you after lunch. I've been able to introduce them to other Chicago artists like Common and John Legend as well as Jill Scott. Great stuff!

  • Excelent¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Wow! I hate Scriabin's music, but the playing is great!

  • Bravo! very nice; it would be great to see

more expression from you within this piece; to bring out that meaning/emotion and the art, if you know what i mean. great work. I like your taste, and would like to see more. keep it up

  • congrats on denmark, btw. i want to see LOTS of pictures!!!!!!!!

  • yaaaaaaaaaay! CAMBRY! I MISS YOU!

  • Beautiful playing. I love your videos.

  • I ADORE YOU!

  • WELL DONE.

  • Well first off you're nothing short of amazing. I thought the tempo was a bit slow and I caught what sounded like a couple of missed notes, but I'm so jealous!!!! I wish I could play like that!!!

  • Scriabin to me is transcendent Chopin. Almost the place Chopin would have gone. Good performance I thought the bass levels were high but it could just be my comp.

  • Some say Scriabin is Chopin except more advanced. I'm not very familiar with Scriabin myself so I won't offer my opinion.

  • You may be right about the bass levels, this recording studio was pretty much set up to record contemporary music involving lots of instruments. There were like 8 mics hooked up to this piano.

  • Nice work Cambry. What kind of headphones are you using? I love recording with headphones and this has me curious as to recording artists like Perahia if they use headphones while recording?

  • Hey Craig, i'm not sure what kind of headphones those were, this was in a recording studio that I reserved with a friend of mine. It's pretty amazing yet different to listen at the same time, I really like it as well. I bet some of the pros did this kind of stuff.

  • Thanks Jonathan. I use the AKG240DF series for recording. They are flat response.

  • man... great stuff

  • excellent :) , 5/5

  • I have watched you for almost 2 years now. This is surely your best recording. I was not convinced with the last etude (op8-no12)...and tempo of op2 no1. But Jonathon, this was simply brilliant. Bravo! You obviously have many fans so keep posting! Congratulations on your new Boston! It's gorgeous!

  • Excellent work, Cambry! I rather enjoyed the performance.

  • Thanks a lot for stopping by William!

  • Good!!!!

  • What happened to your "Obama '08" hat? Nice job on the Scriabin.

  • chopin65, I will be breaking out the Obama hat again soon haha

  • That's excellent. Nvr heard of Scriabin before. You know some Scarlatti? Keep it up.

  • That's great!

  • Damn! That was amazing!

  • Beautiful playing! This is also my favourite Scriabin Etude and you've played it wonderful.

I wish I could see your hands though. :-)

  • Thanks a lot, this is my favorite Scriabin etude as well

  • Very nice. Good pronounciation, not muddled.

  • Thanks a lot, there was great recording equipment

  • Very nice indeed.
