  • That GA8 kind of resembles the S12 switcher that was made by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. The other diesel resembles one of the later ALCO RS models.

  • Good thing they have deadmans systems on modern locomotives!

  • Wow! This usually doesn't happen. Cool.

  • Its just a euphemism for the Argentine economy.

  • now do this with a camera in it

  • i was expecting to see a flaming skeleton driving it.

  • It's American, yet it has buffers? What?

  • @crazyracer12 It's American built, but evidently they use buffers in their coupling system there so that's how it was equipped.

  • 3 Accidents? What kind? Like freight trucks in the way?

  • Where is Edward to rescue James when you need him?

  • On modern locomotives there is a button the engineer or the coductor have to press every 15 seconds if there is no movement of the controls. It is like a deadman switch. If the button is not pressed it puts the train into emergency and stops the train.

  • @Rdrake1413 this is a VERY old train.... i mean look at it....

  • @PaperbatVGFAN67 Yes I know its a old locomotive most of the locomotives they use in Argentina are rebuilt locos that where used in the US and Canada back in the 1950's,60's and 70's. My point is this would not happen with a modern loco.

  • Due to budget cuts there have been some layoffs.

  • holy shit just like the movie

  • IT'S THE REAL GHOST TRAIN FROM THOMAS!! XD

  • Somebody watched "Unstoppable"! lmao

  • Where's Denzel Washington and Chris Pine when you need them?

  • Well we know where the movie "Unstoppable" came from

  • USA definition of a train is " An Engine , or more then one engine, coupled, with or without Cars, displaying Markers. Thats FRA rules, and Im a retired Conductor of 34 years.

  • run Thomas, run

  • then there is the AWS automatic warning system. there are track magnets between the track that makes a horn sound in the cab if the next signal is red and if the driver doesn't pres it in about 7 seconds the brakes come on

  • Its Crazy 8's little brother!

  • Fascinating.

  • wrong locomotive such morons

  • the perfect crime

  • In New Zealand, the definition of a train is ''engine or engines coupled, with or without vehicles attached or self propelled rolling stock, duly authorized to run as a train''.

  • Where's the train at? All I saw was a runaway locomotive! Kept waiting to see a runaway train but there wasn't one. People need to go back to college if they don't know what a "train" is! Dumb reporter.

  • Cue runaway TTTE music

  • umm. that's a LOCOMOTIVE! not a TRAIN. a TRAIN is a series of CARS pulled by a LOCOMOTIVE which is what we see in this video. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT B4 YOU GO MAKE A NEWS STORY!!! morons

  • @TrackMaster555 Actually, the definition of train, is: a locomotive, with or without cars attached, according to the railroads.

  • @TrackMaster555 The article was made by Reuters, an English news reporting company. In England, people refer to both single engines and consists as trains. Not everyone uses American terminology, and it's quite ignorant of you to assume that they do. Next time, before you comment on a video in the way you did, I recommend you get your facts straight.

  • @SammSammmm also adding to this we call our train drivers in the U.K. train drivers and not engineers as our engineers are the true meaning of the word as in engineering works as in repairs and up keep of the trains or loco not drivers, a driver is a driver.

  • @TrackMaster555 well if you go to a GCOR rule book a train by rule is a Locomotive or locomotives , coupled, with or without cars displaying markers. With the newer rules class lights aren't used anymore as markers..a headlight is a mrker..but since this one was placed into motion...and abandoned ..I guess you can classify it as you please...Thanks .. as info

  • @TrackMaster555 Finally someone besides me knows the difference.

  • @TrackMaster555 Who cares!

  • @TrackMaster555 A single locomotive can also be a train. It's called a light engine here in the US.

  • @TrackMaster555 GET A LIFE!!! RETARD!

  • UNSTOPPABLE BUT IN REAL LIFE LOL HAHA !!!! :).

  • 30-70km/h... and they never thought to just send a couple of guys out on a dirtbike and have the pillion jump off onto the engine to hit the brakes? and someone else on a chase bike to catch some sweet footage?

  • @TahreyUK - Tell you what, the next time a locomotive runs away, you try that and get back to us and tell us how well you did - assuming you don't kill yourself trying.

  • Dude that thing is tiny compared to that SD7. Like a mama and her baby.

  • @LoneSniperSG

looks like an alco rsd 12

  • @LoneSniperSG That's actually an Alco RS11, not an SD7

  • @LNERMallard

    whats the small locomotive type?

  • @tpvalley I think it's an EMD GA8. It was a locomotive made by EMD for export.

  • Comment removed

  • Deareporter Claybimbo.

One locomotive is NOT a train.

    Did it hit another "train"?

Or did another LOCOMOTIVE match speed and slow to allow the locomotive to couple to it?

What were the three "accidents" in its wake?

  • @rhblakeman Of course there isn't. This is EMD's cheapest economy model of export locomotive they ever produced. It's a GA8. They used freight car trucks connected by oversized bicycle chain directly to the motor. Actual traction motors and actual Blombergs were deemed too expensive for this locomotive, so do you really think they would include something as frivolous as a safety feature?

  • and thats why you lock the damn doors when you leave the train unattended for more than a minute

  • *cue the Benny Hill theme.

  • there lucky it was only a switcher engine and not a full size diesel engine running lose

  • Wish we could have seen the actual moment it met the other loco!

  • Comment removed

  • @nicolasboro Yes but atleast their trains have drivers.

  • @nicolasboro how is this relevant to the video?

  • @oncrack1 sorry , i confused! lol i wanted to commented it in another video about the falklands! nothing to do.

  • Newsflash: Argentina stuns the world with fully automated rapid transit system

  • @bluemuleii We should get one of those.........

  • Grr.. it's not a "train"...

  • Thats scary

  • UNSTOPPABLE!

  • Nyan Loco

    i demand it!

    :3

  • it seems like it should be getting somewhere.

but somehow its neither here not there.

  • Comment removed

  • Unstoppable 2.

  • It is just a single locomotive, not a train.

    :P

  • These police offices should have western movie training for times like these=Z

  • watch the video and youl find out fuckingt idiot...

  • What no dead man on these trains?

  • @rhblakeman if you know what you are doing, you can isolate it.

  • UNSTOABLE!!!!!!

  • @rollermusic3 Crap! you stole my idea!

  • you can clearly see the driver....fail

  • @DOUGIE1979 I think you are mistaking a box on the control console for someone's head.

  • Comment removed

  • it just wanted to be freeeee!

  • It must've thought it was CSXT 8888. LOL

  • I think I can. I think I can.

  • how was it stopped?

  • why dont all trains become driverless, its not technically difficult to make and they can work 24/7 and without paying a worker.

  • Wasnt there a recent movie about this...

  • @takeapieandrun

    unstoppable

  • Rueters need to get educated! A train is what makes up either passenger/freight vehicles behind a loco/engine. She should have reffered to this runaway as a 'loco' or 'engine' So much for factual reporting!!

  • that looks creepy coming at you with nothing behind it plus no driver @_@

  • @GayBoyRunning Yeah no driver but not a trains have cars!! The just engines trains are called power moves!

  • @metroliner89 I didnt say train.. i just said it looks creepy. & i know it just a single locomotive pulling nothing behind it..

  • @GayBoyRunning My most fav 0-6-0 shunter is the D0226

  • @metroliner89 Plus this type of Locomotive is called a Shunter.

    I love the 0-6-0 Shunters.

  • @GayBoyRunning Yeah theyre cool!

  • lol train

  • @galactictg you heard about the movie "unstopable"? It's about trying to stop a runaway train like this.

  • @jamuz355 Every movie ever made is about a runaway train!Which is why I will never go see any Hollywood "Train" movies."Unstoppable"!Atomic Train"!Wreck Train"Destruction Train!!'Death Train!!"Blood Train"Give a rest!!

  • That train needs to be trained

  • There probably going to make a movie about this.

  • why dont it show it hitting the other train?!

  • that looks like a ghost train @.@

  • The hell was this guy thinkin...

  • lol insane

  • What train?? O_o

It was just a runaway Locomotive by some crazy person.

ONE Locomotive is NOT a Train.

The news media just makes the story 'sound' bigger that it looks.

  • @Modeltrainguy a locomotive is a train.... a tram is a train aswell...

  • Wow, Lindsay Claiborn. Are you an idiot?

    Locomotive. Not "train".

"Hit" other "train" in front of it? Or did locomotive ahead slow enough to let the runaway catch up to it for a gentle interception?

"Three accidents"? Do you mean collisions with vehicles at grade crossings?

You need to find another job.

  • Van mij mogen ze hem laten ontsporen.

  • i'm argentinian, and this kind of things just only happens in argentina... jajajaj, :P

  • @christiantr1986 argentinian? LOL! is called argentino, argentinian? u sure a 5 years old trying to insult my country, gtfo dude

  • @maxi323323 Macho, "argentinian" es el gentilicio correcto en inglés para los argentinos. También es válido "argentine"

  • dont all locomotives have a dead man button (or whatever it is called)? if the button is not pressed every few minutes the train engages brakes to stop?

  • @salesy67 No. All locomotives do not have such a switch.

  • It's NOT a train!

    That's a locomotive - minus its train!

A train is something that is pulled! From tragen - to pull.

  • @DADRENO Etymology

Old High German tragan, originally *dragan. Cognate with Dutch dragen

  • A train is a connected series of vehicles for rail transport that move along a track (permanent way) to transport freight or passengers from one place to another.

Propulsion for the train is provided by a separate locomotive, . historically (from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century) the steam locomotive was the dominant form of locomotive power.

The word 'train' comes from the Old French trahiner, itself from the Latin trahere 'pull, draw'

  • @DADRENO If you are a dispatcher and you are moving a light engine from station "A" to station "B" you are dispatching a "train". I have a daily movement of locomotives out of our facility to a yard approximately 20 miles away where we pick up the trailing tonnage. When that crew departs its origin with just locomotive(s) they have a train id and symbol.

  • That happens only in argentina !!!!

  • screw that moron who started that engine

  • no thanks.

  • It's something exactly out of Thomas the Tank Engine, just go and search "Old Iron" ;)

    You'll see what I mean. :)

  • I searched 'old iron' and all that came up was an ad for Viagra. I don't get the connection.

  • Well, basically there was a story where an engine went on a runaway and so anther engine chased him, with the driver jumping into the other one and stopping it. Add to that it was narrated by Ringo Starr :p

  • rofl

  • @anooseholay

    LMAO!!

    Good 1

  • @StanierJack

    i saw that episode once

  • @StanierJack Cue the Runaway Theme!

  • I'm shocked that they didn't have catch points thrown in front of it and just derail it. But using another locomotive would work also.

  • yes and that would also spare the backbreaking job of putting the train back on the tracks again

  • well I doubt that they would hand lift it, that is why cranes were created.

  • renting a mobile crane plus repairing the damaged tracks along with the trains undercarriage still makes deraling a train unfavorable solution

  • I know, it was just that someone said that would be heavy to lift the train back on, so I said I doubt that they would hand lift it. If a train would come off the track I would not want to lift it back on the tracks.

  • Similar incident happened in Europe, but the runaway engine derailed and got crashed in the woods.

  • RS11!!

  • No,RSD11

No mandes fruta.

  • gimme a dirt bike, my lunatic friend Kris on the back, and we'll solve the problem, no worries!

  • please, elaborate :)

  • I'l do the drivin, he'll do the jumpin (cause he's a NUT!) and we'll 'james bond' that train to a halt! Or better, I'll drop him off from a chopper onto the train. Yeah baby!

  • @FlingwingGolfer did that in unstoppable

  • Ghost train?

  • it looked like something in a movie at some points oooo the scary unmanned engine that looks so weird

  • hmm ive heard of runaway train but didnt know it happened like this ha ha nice!

  • hahaha

  • Argentina's government is like a runaway train.

  • lol

  • And your goverment is like the guy who started the train and jumped out.

  • @fedeminiciUK Yes,, you are right,,, I am from Argentina but try to look inside of your government country instead of looking others.. Be happy ,.. we do not have technology but be impressive about the intelligence to stop the train, honey!!!

  • lol

  • A driverless train in an unmanned republic... nothing to write home about

  • damn. it has no brakes, NO BRAKES, NO BRAKES!!!!

  • i eat babies

  • I live in Mendoza, Argentina. Where the driverless locomotive departed.

Sorry, but it is not a Sarmiento Railway EMD, it is a San Martin Railway EMD. I mean, in the past, when the railways were a State-owned company, the name of the Railway was San Martin.

Now the company name is ALL (America Latina Logistica), before that was BAP (Buenos Aires al Pacifico).

The Dead man devices are disable in almost every locomotive in Argentina. It is forbidden but it is true.

    greetings

    Pablo Anglat.

  • The engine that was used to stop the runaway engine. Was it an alco?? Sure looked like an RS-27?

  • ALCO RSD16. It was only bought by Argentina. Greatings

  • sorry to tell you this but That's a Sarmiento Railway EMD GA8! and its not a "train " its a locomotive

  • That train is a death trap!

Is it from the stoneage? Modern trains will stop if there's no one operating the train. The traindriver has to activly keep a button or pedal down for it to work ("dead man's hand"). Modern trains also requires the driver to logon before the controls will become useable.

  • Argentina is one of the "third world" country. In countries like yours, the economy solution is, pay less for more services, the world economy is based in "Big countries use slaves from third world countries" We ensemble the technologies stuff you'll use. Get out the bubble, read about other countries, read "Naomi Klein, No Logo" interesting book about how big fish get the big price.

Its not offensive, is just about why this things happen...

  • I thought that Argentina was modern enough to have such simple features such as "Dead man's handle" on their trains. Oh well

  • you need comme to Argentina and see it with your own eyes...

  • Here, it is used to disable the dead man device.

  • Inés Aimale fue la camarógrafa que filmó esta secuencia en San Luis-Argentina.

  • That's actually a very sick thing for someone to have done.

How does someone come to acquire that kind of hatred of humanity itself?

Employers should be required by law to pay for psychotherapy when they fire someone.

    Why aren't they?
