According to a story in Ya Libnan on-line today (April 29th), Hezbollah is preparing another attack on Israel. Iran is helping to prepare the attack. If Hezbollah attacks, Israel will surely respond with a counter-attack, causing another senseless war.

So, are there now 2 states on Israel's northern border? The government of Lebanon is behaving as if this was an actual fact, not simply a risk. A few days ago it threatened to refuse putting its army to the south if Israel tries to militarily prevent Iranian weapons from reaching Hezbollah. By such statements it is clearly accepting and supporting a de facto dissolution and partitioning of Lebanon.

This seems to have failed. Israel still has its prisoners, and is insisting it will not formally swap but wants the 2 soldiers Hezbollah has taken to be released unconditionally. But this war has cost both Hezbollah and the South Lebanese heavily. If the purpose of Hezbollah is to advance the interests of the Lebanese Shiites, it would be rational for it to refrain from further attacks on Israel.
