Actually being from chicago and currently living in BKLYN NYC both cities have they pros and cons. Trust I love both cities, but until you see cities like Tokyo, London, Barcelona, Paris NYC and Chicago has nothing on those other places.

I recently wrote an article on my favorite skylines in the the world. It is all opinion based so there is not need to for negative commentary. I put Chicago fourth on my list and LA 10th. I am from Houston and now live in DFW but have lived in Bangkok too so yes I do have a good idea what makes a great downtown/skyscrapers concept.
CHI-TOWN is cool but it's got nothing compared to the LOS ANGELES area though. chicago looks kinda like N.Y.C. just looks like a little patch of buildings that's it.... L.A. has the skyscrapers but is also spread out like a mother too... if chicago could spread out more it would be alot better than it is right now......
When "spreading" out more measure a city's skyline? Never. Chicago's skyline is rated one of the best in the US, before LA, and in the world. From afar Chicago does look like NYC but if one has a keen eye both are noticeably different. Where NYC is sheer density and quantity Chicago's skyline one can actually point out specific buildings.

I'm a Brit and i absolutely LOVED Chicago. Everyone was telling me to go to all these different places in the USA when I visited and I went to Chicago instead. I would advise any tourist to do the same, it's BRILLIANT.

Lovely chicago, i visited there in 2007 in october. I'm from North europe. I spent a wonderful, sunny 2 weeks in chicago. I was suprised how summery it still was there in late autumn, at least that year. :)The city looks really nice especially in the sunshine that i had all the time. and Chicago is so magical in the evening and at night, when it's dark and the skyscrapers are lit colourfully, and I also visited many nice different neighbourhoods, there were many beautiful old buildings as well.
Just visited Chicago for the first time in my life of 48 years on this Earth. I am definitely returning for more. Great town, wonderful architecture, and the best sports fans in the world. Go Bears!

When "spreading" out more measure a city's skyline? Never. Chicago's skyline is rated one of the best in the US, before LA, and in the world. From afar Chicago does look like NYC but if one has a keen eye both are noticeably different. Where NYC is sheer density and quantity Chicago's skyline one can actually point out specific buildings.

Lovely chicago, i visited there in 2007 in october. I'm from North europe. I spent a wonderful, sunny 2 weeks in chicago. I was suprised how summery it still was there in late autumn, at least that year. :)The city looks really nice especially in the sunshine that i had all the time. and Chicago is so magical in the evening and at night, when it's dark and the skyscrapers are lit colourfully, and I also visited many nice different neighbourhoods, there were many beautiful old buildings as well.
