in one of the jonas brothers songs off their second album "the jonas brothers", theres this song on it that nick wrote called just friends. look it up. in the lyrics it says "i've been making plans, like a picket fence and a rose garden." this was in 2007, prob wayyy before he had selena on his mind. my best guess is that rose garden is about his childhood friend maya.

shes the jonas' really good friend. her parents were really great friends with them and when maya was a baby, her dad died and her and her mom didnt have much money so they started living with the jonas'. maya is like 2 years younger than nick and shes bestfriends with the guys espically nick. and so now her and her mom go with like on tour and stuff.

i think it's a metaphor for hollywood... it makes sense, i mean, 'rose garden where the rain falling, the thorns are sharp" i think that 'rain' means like tears cause of gossips and rumours, and the it can definitely hurt working in hollywood, so that why he might have used 'thorns' as a metaphor as well.... just an opinion.
