  • Green onions are a great addition to this. This is a staple at my family's Christmas (only without the breadcrumb top). I'm so going to try it with the breadcrumbs next time.

  • @mmiwantboba pulse stale bread (or bread that's been in a 300 degree oven for 5-7 minutes to dry it out) in a food processor. That's it.

  • This is a wonderful idea for left over mashed potatoes. You can make little individual servings too. I could see this done with some crisp bacon or ham and some lightly browned onion. Let it cool before adding to the mixture then bake. Great way to use up a little of this or that. Thanks Laura this is another winning recipe.

  • Not only the color of black pepper is different but also the taste, aroma, and texture.

    Black pepper has more taste so it isn t a shame to use it.

  • @alvanjazz The creamy mascarpone? Or the gorgeous parmiggiano? Use cream cheese for mascarpone if you like, not sure bout the parmiggiano, but I guess you can use any cheese you like

  • It looks like a dish we make in Italy named "cattò" (from "gateau"), the only differences are the cream cheese added to the mashed potatoes (we don't use it, maybe just some pieces of mozzarella) and the ham that we usually put between two layers of potatoes or cut into squares and mixed to the batter. Anyway it's a really good recipe :)

  • Laura,im loving this! The cosistency of your mash is just like mine,i use butter and double cream and whisk so the cream thickens up with the pureed potatoes,almost soufles them...gorgeous
