  • @ mattsaccount200 - read the previous comments re crayfish. Paua by the way aren't "caught" they are harvested....

  • That's pretty bad at 2.46. Its extremely obvious they are undersize crayfish..... Lets just hope those paua were caught free-diving and not with your tanks....

  • Nice catch Bro, Hea in sydney we cant use the Air tank like u guys... so lucky. In Sydney they want us to Swim like a Whale, and ask the fish permisson to spear it..LOL. U guys are so lucky keep it up, I just keep dreaming of the day i get a good catch like yours. Thank you for posting more pleases.

  • @MegaSpearfisherman,thanks bro. The guys I dive with do a mixture of tank and free diving/spearfishing. The tankers don't take their guns to spear fish. Its not illegal to do so in NZ but its not practical to be carrying a gun around under the water with the type of underwater terrain that Wgtn's coastlines are renowned for. You get snagging & safety issues with the kelp and weed and not to mention spooking fish with all the bubbles. Theres also "silent" diving etiquette - no guns with tanks.

  • @ GOTALIEG - I seriously doubt you have that much diving experience because if you did you would be aware that a legal sized cray, male or female is physically quite small. A diver of reasonable height and size will exacerbate the smallness of a legal sized cray.

Like I mentioned in my initial response to you, I've allowed your comment on here so that you recieve an open response for this video that is avaliable to the public. If the crays were not legal I wouldn't have allowed your comment.

  • @Niusa5. I seriously think you should read up on Fisheries Website regarding size limits! Ive been diving for over 25 years all over New Zealand and Small Crays does not equal Legal.

    Measuring red rock lobster

The tail width is measured in a straight line between the tips of the two

large (primary) spines on the second segment of the tail, as shown in the

diagrams opposite. The minimum sizes for red rock lobster are:

54 mm for males and 60 mm for females.

  • @ GOTALITEG. I've allowed your comment so that you recieve an open response. The 2.49 crays you refer are all legal. I'd agree they are small but the crays in that image were from Turikirae on the Wainuiomata Coast. ANYONE who consistently dives at Turikirae would agree that the crays are consistently smaller than say the ones you would find at Sinclair Head/Red Rocks and beyond or even on the West Coast. From memory we didnt find any big bucks that day just many legal but small crays.

  • You guys may want to read up on limits and size restrictions for seafood as the crays pictured on 2:49 are way way under the legal limit, and your pictures are now with MAF!

  • Tumeke vid guys :-) Lotsa fun and good mates. Thats the real Kiwi lifestyle. Well done.

  • Great vid lads. Shame old Humble Bee is gone Dan. Next time I'm up Wellie you'll have to take me out for a look around. Wayno
