They were named the best NHL team in 2010-2011, they just haven't had that distinction enough over time to be labeled as one of the premiere franchises in hockey. @mateo51790 If you actually had a breain you would know that the actual city of Detroit is run down because the middle and upper class left the city after the riots in the 60's, the suburbs of detroit are as nice as any other big city and the 10 by 10 square block area where Comerica park, Joe Louis, Ford Feild, the Fox theater, the Fillmore theatre etc are incredible. Also, the red wings have some of the best scouts in the league so your so statement of "lucky picks" is invalid.

They were named the best NHL team in 2010-2011, they just haven't had that distinction enough over time to be labeled as one of the premiere franchises in hockey. I take nothing away from what Boston did with that season and am glad they beat the Canucks for the cup, but history speaks for itself.
