Jeez, if you're going to make a documentary at least get permission so you can use their music. The crap playing for this is horrible. After hearing the first few seconds and "Once in a Whiiiiiiile" I don't want to even watch or listen to the rest of the crap. Get a new narrator too. The old lady should be telling bedtime stories and not a documentary.
I think these records being big is the same way religion is big - religion is obviously about people who had very high ideals, but lost them at some point, devolving into a basic level of manipulation, base-level appeals, lowest common denominator, and everything else the average guy can relate to. Falls from grace appeal to people more than true-to-their-craft artists. They're more inclusive, less heavy, more relatable, more powerful for giving it up instead of holding on to the faith.
@avidalocan your average guy cant relate to talking snakes, talking bushes, talking donkeys, some cloudguy turning into a ghost and raping a women as she sleeps and zombie jewish carpenters lol
@1984LizardKing It's the mixture that's potent: "no one regards what is before his feet; we all gaze at the stars." Mix gutter and stars and you've got mass appeal, whatever art form, or religion, it arrives in. Too lofty and you're out of touch, too gritty or low and you turn off the idealizers - find the happy medium and the world is thine I tell you!!
A lot of tormented records, where the artist has obviously sold out just at that very moment, become big beloved records. People can see that they sold out, for whatever reason, and it authenticizes the art and artists - because we've all compromised ourselves in a similar way. The deauthentication is what authenticates the work. Born in The USA, Rumours, Thriller, Zenyatta Mondatta, Back in Black - they're all stepping down from the "true faith", giving humility to the genre and the artist.
Nevermind pointed more at what could have been a musical genre than actually delivering it. It was short on songs that themselves were short, it wasn't followed up or preceeded by anything comparable, it was against the genre of music that the band wanted to put out, it was dominated by a sound engineer's input and a big label's needs, and it arrived at a nadir of popular music that had been foisted upon people who wanted and deserved much more for around four years. It was tormented.
listening to music makes me happy. What a fucking loser i am. I would like to know all of you people who like this music yet i know the internet makes you unesea to responde to my request.
Shouldn't the other two band members have had some rights to Kurt's music? If they were all three in on making the music you would think community property should fall somewhat on the existing members of the band, right? Meaning it should be a vote between the three as to whom is allowed to release what right? You won't see a whole lot of things released by C Love because she had the means to remove Kurt, and she did! If nobody else had noticed there was plenty of motive!
Couldn't you have played Soundgarden or Pearl Jam or Jane's Addiction or something? I mean shit; it's like you looked for music that was as unlike Nirvana as you could find.
the soundtrack to this documentary is fucking blastphemy! you should of just left the music out of it if you couldn't put anything good in it. just sayin...
