  • I zoned out during this video and then had to play it back

  • How boring would life be while doing just one thing .For me ADHD = creativity.

  • i was doing my homework, but got distracted and went to this.

    no kidding lol

  • i was born with ADHD and im 19 and it still bothers me i get distracted real easily but i take the pill

  • Could have picked a better background for this video! And the vestments of your religious order are a nice touch though. I can't ever get over this do-gooder!

  • Buickgirl, you must understand that this whole mental illness business (and very lucrative it is) is about medicalizing moral issues! Our disease-mongering culture, of labeling the troublesome and troubling among us, as "il" and "disordered", is only Therapeutic-speak for a moral shift in our society: where the moral, social, and ethical aspects in life have been thoroughly medicalized. And, for anyone seeking confirmation and psychiatric absolution, being labeled does make therapeutic sense.

  • People are being blocked from adding comments to this video. This is supposedly a medical advice series, yet, those with contradictory opinions are summarily excluded from the fray. This, in a nutshell, is censorship of those who stand to challenge the authority of those with the power over others.

  • No, it means that your behavior is troubling and troublesome to others. ADHD is a pseudo-medical means of ordering people who, at some level, fail to conform. Most so-called diagnoses of ADHD are arrived at through agreement, between the patient-client (parent, for children) and the one doing the labeling and drugging. All mental illnesses and disorders are a means of society to segregate and excluded those who are socially troublesome, be it the disruptive child, or the homeless vagabound.

  • we are not robots

  • I am the same way. Its called being human sweetheart.

  • No one wants to do what doesn't interest them. You have to teach yourself discipline. Not being taught manners or to sit still as a child causes the outburst.

Side effects of the drugs cause 1 in 5 kids to become violent and 1 in 10 kids to become psychotic. Please people do your homework before sentencing you kids to a life as a zombie or worse. ADHD may be real for some people, but some good parenting is all you need.

  • I would take that a step further and say that ADHD is not a medical reality, no matter the lip service said contrariwise. It (ADHD) is a social and moral concern, not a so-called brain disorder. The label has come to be the coin of the realm for the willful and disruptive child, and, for the adult, it is but an excuse and psychiatric absolution in one's perceived failures! (mis)behavior is not a disease, that is not what diseases are; as well as with other mental "illnesses"!

  • I love all the thumbs down I got, I dont care I have seen it happen first had 2 times. Where there was a normal kid with bad parents. 1 didn't try and teach there kid anything so they say he is slow, hes not! They just never caried to teach him anything. Like even how to talk!!! Another one was this kid who never got disaplined AT ALL and now that he is causing issues in school so it must be ADHD. BULL. The only people who pretend to believe it are the ppl that can use it as an accuse

  • I would take that a step further and say that ADHD is a socially ascribed label for the disruptive and willful child. As for the adult, ANY mental illness (disorder) label is a means of excuse and psychiatrirc absolution for the failure, at some level, to conform and flourish in one's environment. Our culture drugs and locks up many of society's troubling and troublesome individuals, and ADHD "treatment" is but one of many means of segregating and excluding, by way of pseudo-medical blandishment

  • True, everyone has some difficulties with focussing on things that they do not find intrinsically interesting. The difficulties of people with ADHD are much more severe than the difficulties normal adults experience, they persist over very long periods of time with very serious results. That is why it is a psychiatric disorder, not just being human.

  • Ya know, the biggest problem 4 me is that I can't focus on anything, like schoolwork, wich sucks, cuz there's alot of ppl 2 help me 2 make it. Not like it's HARD, I just don't MAKE it, I hate it..... Don't think like I'm stupid ur something, I'm not sure how to pronounce it in English (I'm Dutch) but what I do is in Dutch called "Atheneum+" Hmm, that's the same in English right?

  • @Dronkenbier I have the same problem too trouble of fococussing ...

  • sounds like hyperactivity and impulsivity. If you are also easily distracted and have bad short term memory then you probably have it.

  • The UK needs better NHS services for people with ADHD so please sign the petition on 10 Downing Street site. Sorry cant post links here so do a Google search on aadd uk petition to find it

  • I have Asperger's syndrome, only mildy and I do beleive that people with Asperger's have ADHD, Tourette syndrome, combinded with OCD as well as Dyspraxia and problems with impulsive anger management control!

  • Tom Cruise is Dyslexic and I know for a fact Jim Carey has ADHD!

  • Near and dear to my own heart and head? Does this then make you a high priestess dispensing your faith to believers?

  • To call ADHD a disorder is not to substantiate the claim that is neurochemically based, as the assumption is made of ADHD being a neurologically based disorder (which is it, disease, as you earlier stated, or a disorder?), manifested by behavioural symptoms. The latter qualification, namely, that ADD is detectable by "outwardly" manifested symptoms, is telling. MH professionals assume certain (mis)behaviours to be indicative of disease sequelae, when in fact this has not been borne out.

  • i agree

  • im naked ;D l
